  1. I love, love, love the new site except for one minor detail..................The emoticons!!!......It takes forever to scroll thorough the list and find a good one to match your emotion for a certain post.. Yea i know the most common are close, by but is it possible to alphabetize the other ones or get some sort of organization to em?
  2. I was crusing the isles of a local fishng store the other day and got into the saltwater section. While i was there i had the thought that some of the lures might work well cause it would be something the bass hadn't seen very often. The colors were very different than the freshwater section also which may help or hurt. I was just wondering if anyone has used saltwater lures for freshwater fishing and if you had any luck with it?? Thanks
  3. Ok makes sense...Small gear turning big gear = more pulling power / torque vs big gear turning small gear = more speed..... my mistake!......But don't you think that a baitcasting reel has more pulling power by design than a spinning reel...sure feels that way to me??
  4. Why??...If you ever looked at a winch on a truck it looks like an oversized baitcaster. Watching people i've fished with , i've noticed that most of the time that they are fighting with a spinning rod they / I will lift the rod and pull the fish to them while reeling out the slack and repeat until the fish is caught. On the bait caster once you set the hook you pull back on the rod hold pressure and reel in the line, like a winch. But that's JMO and how i taught myself, i am curious to hear how else you could use it.
  5. 1. I believe the thinking on this is that with a spinning rod you use the ROD to fight the fish because the reel doesn't have much power therefore the rod should be in your dominant hand. With baitcaster the REEL is what fighting the fish and it is what has the power(like a winch pulling a truck outta the mud) so the reel should be controlled by your dominant hand...This is by no means set in stone , a lot of people on this forum (including myself) reel with the same hand regardless of which kind of fishing gear we are using . 2.Some do, most of them you can buy spare spools for them they just don't come with them in the box. Hope this helps!!!
  6. His chatter baits look absolutely phenomenal!!..He sent one to me and i can't wait to get it wet. MonteSS definitely gets a +1 from me Thanks again !!
  7. Saw one of these the other day at Dicks-sporting goods and it looks really good. Had it on sale for 79.99 too!! here's the stats and a pic. Just wondering if anyone has any personal experiance with it. I will say that i have a regular Escalade( wasn't impressed) but this one looks MUCH better built. Aluminum frame,Flippin Switch,Magnetic and centrifugal cast control,Continuous anti-reverse,EVA Handle Knobs,Gear Ratio: Burner 7.0:1,Line Capacity: 145 yds. / 12 lb. and Ball Bearings: 9 Stainless Steel
  8. Its a combination depending on the lure i'm using. Topwater----would be the bite...just can't beat that explosive strike here.. Worm/Jig-----the hookset...feeling the tick and reeling out the slack..pausing just a moment to make sure the fish has it good ....then WHAM!!!!.....Hookset!!!!....Fish On!!!! Crank bait/Spinner bait----The Fight.....Mostly with the crankbait cause ya gotta be gentle, you never know how good there hooked so you have to play with them a bit. All the above share the same satisfaction of a job well done when the fish is in the boat
  9. Had a chance to go out today to practice for my first tourny coming up on April 29th and i'd say it went pretty well... caught 3 total..Heres the first a 4 lber....and then the second topping the scales at 5.5......the third was not as impressive but was a keeper at about 1.5 lbs ...so all in all not a bad start
  10. YaY im on the board!! Heres my entry >>>> 5.5 lbs/16.2 SR= 33.95.

  12. Thanks for the suggestion FD i never thought of that, i will definitely have to look into that as an option. The windsheild is fine it did not break and probably the only reason the dash did is because it was cracked beforehand. But i will say that those waves hot hard and certainly left a mark.
  13. I voted 4..not because of days in a row necessarily but because that's how many times i will wear them before i wash them. I heard a few fashion people once talk about jeans and the fact that they were NOT to be washed. Now granted not washing them at all would be just nasty but they had a good point. Ever notice that jeans fit better after you wear them on that first day. It was stated that jeans actually form to your body after use therefore are more comfortable when worn more without washing. Once you wash them you have to start all over because washing actually "resets the fabric " and they will not be formed to your body. >>>so there a little bit of usless info that carry around in my head and another indication that i need to not let the wife choose what we watch on TV a night..
  14. I think you are supposed to use it as a way of confirming that you like a certian post(much like the old way of quoting and then saying x2) the more post that people agree with the more your reputation builds. Then after a while you will be that old man at the fish store that everyone asks for advice from cause he has the best "reputation". Yes it can be misused but lets hope that doesn't happen ....As far as the neutral, i would imagine it will change as you get more reputation(or less), kind of like the old post count with junior senior member etc, but i am just guessing on that.
  15. HAHA that's a great point...you get a reputation point for that 1 !!!
  16. Good point Rhino, I thought the same thing with the structural part of your post but actually the anode has holes through it so its actually mounted into the motor bracket(?) With 1 stainless bolt...the reason I do not want to drill into the transom is that this is a cheap fish finder that I hope to upgrade later and really don't want to have to fill in holes...plus I would think that holes filled with epoxy or something would take away from the resale value should I ever decide to sale it.....can you think of any other way I might could mount it without drilling holes??...Thanks!
  17. Ok so i took the old Transducer out (it was easier than expected) but can't mount the new in the hull.. Its got a temp sensor (piece of metal sticking out the bottom and the instructions say the temp will not work with a in hull installation) so instead of drilling in the transom i thought about mounting a piece of alum. to the anode(?) kit....Tell me if ya think it will work or not and why...Thanks!!
  18. Off the front for sure!!! When you're in stage 5 doodie alert you need those s*** tickets as close as possible.
  19. X2....I think next winter/year the same 10 should do it again...maybe in reverse order?
  20. Its a humminbird 560 (el-cheapo i know). It stated that it could be installed either thru-hull or transom mount. Todd: I'm very nervous about damaging the fiberglass have you ever encounterd a problem when removing an old transducer?
  21. Hey guys i need help deciding where to mount a transducer for my new Sonar unit. The boat is a 2000 nitro 750nxdc.The old transducer cannot be removed i've tried everything. First pic..Old transducer location (blue rectangle) and what i think is the best new location( red rectangle). I would prefer i REALLY don't want to drill holes in the transom. Second pic is transom mount location i think is best (black rectangle) Take a look a let me know what you think is the best location to mount the new transducer. Also last pic is of the dual console that broke (and can't be replaced at the moment) any ideas on what i can do with this hole.
  22. Ewww, ewww, ME, ME, ME!!! i want one!!!!....oh wait i've already gotten the box..!
  23. It happens to me a lot on the work computer. Its running windows Vista, it doesn't really happen on the home computer which is running windows 7. It seems to always happen when i press a page #. If i'm on page 1 of a thread and click the 2 at the bottom of the page that's when it will happen. And if i just click the arrow to go to the next page its usually ok and doesn't give me the error screen. Hope this helps..
