You can buy em all day long here for $2 a pack at walmart. Even at that price i still don't see many movin off the shelf. I got a few of the back and bule chunk style trailers but my goodness do they stink!!

I have 1. I actually cut the wire off the top of the head and made it more of a standard spinnerbait. Just didn't care for the design to much. I could never get it to run correctly unless it was being retrieved at a snails pace. Here is the one i have.

Trial+Error=personal opinion....best way to say it, is you gotta try em for yourself and form an opinion on your own. It helps to actually go into a store and hold the different brands or use one if you have a friend that uses a certain brand. Usually what i do is start with how it feels in my hands then go from there. I have been through 5 manufacturers( Abu, Pinnacle, Daiwa, Quantum,and BPS PQ) and have found the best for me is the PQ's so far. I also like the Daiwa's i have. Never owned a Shimano cause it just didn't feel good in my hands and if i don't like holding it in a store for 10 min, chances are i'm not gonna like holding it on the water for hours.JMHO

The platinum series reel is a great starter reel. You will not have any problems with the magnetic brake system. Although the BPS PQ has dual brakes so its hard to compare the 2. I had a platinum series for about 2 years and then the plastic thumb piece broke off, (same happened to a fiend of mine) and i still used it for another year after that. But for the price ,it gave me exactly what i wanted and i got 2+ years of great service out of it.

I took 2 H2O crankbaits(don't have a Academy near to near me and have been wantin to try em) the norman dd red craw (love that pattern) and the rage anacondas(been wantin to try them out for a while). I put Storm Kickin stick hard swim bait, Storm square bill craw pattern, SK sexy shad swim jig, Black/blue chatter bait, rage shad (white), rage toad(watermelon/red flake) and Rage chunk (California craw) and 2 YUM fat money minnow. Picks are below first is takes and second is puts.

dd22's dont come with suresets...? Thats what i was thinking, i've never seen a dd22 with sure set hooks on them. I've not had a problem with the hooks that come on them, I should say no problems out of the ordinary. Every hook will get dull eventually,or bent, or some other problem.

Sounds like most take care of stuff after the trip instead of before(like fueling etc). When i go to get ready i do all the normal checks(tires, lights, etc) that take about 15 min. Then i'll clean off any leftover line or debris from the decks and cockpit area thats about another 15 min. Next is loading the batteries (i have to remove them in order to charge them) and strapping them in place another 15 min. On to the gear, getting lures on i want to use to start the day probably 30 min. Then if its summer time and the wife goes i load the cooler, towels , etc, 15 more min. Last stop off for gas( don't like to leave gas sitting in the tank, not sure why maybe just a quirk or years of unclogging lawnmower carburetors cause people left untreated gas sitting in them over the winter,and yes i always treat the gas with sea foam or marine sta-bil) so there's another 15 min.All totaled about 2 hrs give or take a few min. Maybe i need to refine my "routine" ;D ;D ;D ;D

Is it just me or does it seems like it takes forever to get the boat ready for a day on the water? Every time i go out i spend at least 2 hrs getting stuff ready to go, kicking tires, cleaning up etc,etc and that deosn't include the 8 hrs to charge batteries..Just wondering how long y'all spend getting the boat ready to go out?

I have the MK 31# and that's exactly what i did. Worked fine. I think most hand steered TM can be adjusted either way.

I disagree. The definition of athlete requires "physical agility, stamina, or strength" or "physical skill" not just "skill." Fishing doesn't have that. I don't get what you guys are saying about being on a boat, operating a trolling motor, etc as being difficult exercise. If you think that's difficult then you are out of shape. Just because something requires God given talent, competitiveness, dedication, practice, hard work, or experience DOES NOT CONCLUSIVELY MAKE IT A SPORT. There are plenty of what I categorize as "activities" that require a combination or all of those things ie: singing in a choir. I don't respect someone who is successful at what I deem as "activities" any less than I respect athletes--I just put them in different categories. The fact that FISHING is mentioned in the definition of sport,CONCLUSIVELY makes it a sport, and ATHLETE by definition is a participant in a sport, then, by definition, a professional fisherman is an ATHLETE.

I'm not to far from you and last weekend i caught 2 of them up shallow in the middle of the creek. Maybe they are staging there before they head to the back to spawn. I did see a few bust the surface at the mouth of the creek also.The 2 i caught were in 2-3' of water and next to some laydowns. The first was on a spinnerbait that i actually backlashed and it sat there for a sec. and then i ripped it off the floor and WHAM! he hit it. The other was on a square bill and not sure if he bumped it and got caught by the trebles cause when i got him in the boat he wasn't hooked in the mouth. Hope that helps some!!

Being in PA i would venture to say that the water temps are still pretty cold. They will probably be holding pretty tight to cover. I would start there with a spinner bait or crank bait, and bounce it of the cover. If that doesn't produce i would switch to something slower like a worm an drag it over and around the cover. I've found that sometimes in a pond you really have to put the bait right in front of there face cause they don't wanna move to far to get it.

Their spinnerbaits look exactly like the laser eye SB that BPS offers. Got a SB,Crank,and some football jig heads.
