  1. I have an arsenal of rods below $100 and probably the best i have is the vendetta. I have not been able to try the veritas yet so no opinion on that, but Abu makes some good stuff at affordable prices.
  2. Love these shirts...have 3 of them and you bet i have 1 on everytime i hit the water

  8. Just saw this on the Bassmaster website and it looks like there is no tournaments in California this year..hmmm..on a positive note (for me) they are coming to my hometown lake( carolina clash) YIPPEE!!! :)
  9. Invisible braid i think is what you are looking for. Although nothing exist yet i would venture to say that it probably will in the future. It wasn't long ago that taking a picture what your boat was passing over was unheard of.
  10. I think i would either ask what kind of rods and reels he likes and go with that brand or get sneaky and check out what he is using now. Equipment varies from person to person as you will soon see and even though you may spend a couple of hundred and a setup it may not feel good in his hands therefore either will exchange it or never use it. Case in point you will see alot of Shimano stuff but personally i don't like it and would exchange any Shimano gift i got for something else not because it isn't a good product but rather i have my trust and confidence in another brand.
  11. shawshank redemption the green mile the outsiders national lampoon vacation the lawnmower man
  12. yea sorta....the middle bend was the same but it was an offset type hook. here's a link but you can't make out the middle bend. http://www.fishingtackleunlimited.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FTU&Product_Code=EC-L045G&Category_Code=
  13. Has anyone seen or fished with these things? I couldn't find a good picture but it looks like a standard offset hook with a bend in the middle. I really couldn't figue out what or how you would use them.
  14. As far as lure is concerned i would say a spinner bait (white). If you just mean in general i would say a scent attractant. It will only enhance any lure you choose to put it on. I would suggest the mega strike.
  15. x2...got a friend with a whole room dedicated to nothing but old tackle that has never / or will never see the water. Brings a tear to my eye every time i step foot in there.
  16. I think the tell of a good fisherman is the ability to adapt to the particular technique you are using. For example you will need a harder hookset while using a jig than you would with a crankbait. The ability to adjust your hookset to the specific techniques will only make you a better angler.

  20. Many thanks Ninja, but any Old Fart worth his salt knows how to harass the youngsters. It's a badge of honor that we all proudly wear. The youngsters always fail to realize that we were also young, a long, long time ago, and can pretty much read their minds. ;D Well poop .. . i'm to young to hang with the old crowd, and to old to hang with the young crowd, so i guess i will just have to start working on that middle age crisis thing i've been putting off.. ;D ;D

  24. I would like to submit my resume as part time liaison to the OffC. Being old farts you may need to harass the younger generation every now and then and you will need someone to relay your messages in terms that they will understand (so they know they are being harassed). At 37 years of age i fall right in the middle to bridge the gap. Besides i already have the bad leg and will soon be able to throw in a bad back to boot. ;D
