Baitcaster
I would recommend a Daiwa Megaforce or an Abu Garcia SilverMaxx. If you plan on throwing some of everything I would go with the abu, if you were wanting to throw jigs and worms exclusively Id suggest the Megaforce.

New approach on casting
I couldnt use the right handed side arm or I would have killed my buddy lol. Couldnt get an overhead close enough due to overhanging trees. To top it off we were too far out to pitch. I eventually did an improvised backcast that worked well enough.

How would you fish this body of water ??
Sounds like a lake I fish. I would fish the basic structures like main lake points and maybe hit some flats. This time of the year dont be afraid to go way back in to the creek arms, the bass might be shallower than youd think. Saw some bigguns that wouldnt bite in three feet the just the other day, water temp 46*-52*.

Boat and fish store hours
I almost have that problem except the store is about five minutes from my house and about 20 seconds past where you turn to go to my house. I still feel your pain bud.

New approach on casting
I was fishing out of the back of the boat and had a situation where being able to execute a left handed side-arm cast would have been gold. Any right handers cast both left and right handed? Any opinions or tips?

The official review thread
How about a little tackle storage 8-) Product: BPS Finesse Double Binder Brand: Bass Pro Shops Function: Soft Plastics Bait Storage Price: $17.99 Pros: Ease of use Compact Size, good for throwing at kids Durable, quality and ergonomically designed features Cons: If full, outside pockets are nearly useless Bags are advertized as self-zipping, don't count on it Bags dont reduce that sweet plastics smell much Comments: Great bags, advertized as finesse but I keep 10 inch worms in it with just a small amount of effort. To better utilize the space, I would recommend buying a pack of replacement bags and putting an extra five on each side giving you a total of 30 baggies in the one big bag. I would definitely reccomend this product.

Senkos... How much are you payin'?
I dont pay anything for my senkos but I pay around 3 dollars for my Tiki Sticks. Nothing against senkos, I just like the SweetPotatoPie color. On the note of "my senko is better" I want a 12 inch senko so that I can say mine is bigger

What are you REALLY good at ? (OK to brag here ;-)
I would consider myself decent with Jigs : My favorite situations would have to be: Summer- Water is around 72-76F, throwing a 1/8-3/16oz jig into THICK cover in about 8 or 10 feet. I let it go through every limb until WHAM! fish on! Winter- Water is 40~, lobbing a 1/2oz black and blue jig on to a 16 foot point and crawling it into 26-29 feet. Caught some nice'uns that way. Needless to say Ive got at least one jig tied on at all times.

Finesse Weightless Plastics and light jigs on a baitcaster
A little late on this since you already got a reel but Ive designated a Daiwa Sol as my finesse reel. I put it on a 7'0" 1-8 to 1oz rod. It works very well. Im glad you got a new reel though. Good luck.

8-Pound Smalllmouth?
We fish similar places I think it was on the Tennessee side though. I saw a picture of it; looked every bit of 8 and had a really nice color. ** Modified : ** Just looked and saw that there is currently a thread with that fish by rickterry.

Looking to start the year right! Reel Questions...
X2, Ive had one for about 5-6 years as my first true bass fishing combo and it still works very well. Im not sure if its an xi or what but it is definitely a regal.

T-Rigs and Jigs Baitcaster
This might be pushing your budget but Ive had a Daiwa Viento for a little under four years and use it for jigs and some t-rigs. As long as you dont get any dirt in it (like I did) it will work very well. If you dont want to spend that, the Daiwa Megaforce is a lot cheaper and still works well, although not quite as smooth.

Jointed Shad Rap
Many praises to the JR-7 or 9. Ive slayed bass on these and caught some big gills and trout. I almost always have one tied on.

Need help building an arsenal
The Diawa rods you mentioned are very nice, I own a number of them. I broke a TD-LT setting the hook on a stump-bass and got a new one in around 17 days, I just had to pay shipping one way.
