My biggest and only striper was caught throwing a superfluke jr. on a 1/8oz jighead with that reel and the 6'9" 1/4-3/4 carrot stick. It can be done its just not an easy task.

I dont get it either bud. Ive been out in water like that and slayed them but more often than not I recieve the slaying. One memorable trip was when I caught one over four, a 5lb 6oz, and a 6lb 5oz that I had to break ice to get on the water for. The air temp was never much over freezing because it snowed most of the day.

Dont know about bass but I think sharks can exert around double their body weight max. Im only applying that to bass since theyre both predators. In theory 8lb line should hold a four lber in perfect conditions, no abrasion or heavy cover. If youre using 14lb test, its going to take a strong 7+ pound fish to break your line. I just apply that knowledge. Now if your drag malfunctions, thats another story.

I saw on Time Warp that beer wouldnt work so they used amber colored water the whole time. Crackers? Im quite salivatious so I might have to try it.

I used to use BPS 25lb Flouro but I backlashed it all away trying to throw a tennis ball(dont ask) so I had some 20lb Viscious thats beggin to be tried out. I use flouro because about anything I throw is on the bottom or dives a little.

I broke the lip off one on the third cast so I can say too much. Ive got my doubts about it getting that deep only because DD22s, big FatFree Shads, Rapalas, etc only get to 16-20 feet. The lip is pretty extrordinary so I could be wrong. BTW, I still have the body of mine. I keep it as a reminder not to throw brand new crankbaits at rocks unless its with good reason... and the bait doesnt cost much.

I wont allow myself to buy any of them. I had my biggest Virginia LMB break one under the boat. I thought it threw the hook, threw the bait out again, got a biter, and it got off immediately. Looked at the bait and it had no hook. I had two and "retired" the other one in the trash. I did keep the blade though.

Hmmm. Sounds like your rod has some issues. I would suggest getting a 100~ dollar reel. Ive not owned a Revo but ti fits the bill as a strong reel. You could throw frogs, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and who knows what else. Ive got an XHF rod that is pretty versitile for a lot stuff.

Front for me. I believe that Shimano makes a few nicer rear drags.

Is that the one in Tennessee?
