Go figure
I've experienced this a few times myself, SirSnookalot, the knighted one. If you are fishing alone there is no way to get a decent picture with a cell phone camera, even if it is a quality camera. One either has to lay the fish down or hold it out at arm's length to take the picture. Either way, the picture doesn't do justice to a large trophy.

Buying 1st Boat, Need Some Advice On Motor HP
You might utilize this formula used to determine the maximum horsepower for a boat. Keep in mind that some hulls may not be able to support the horsepower calculated by the formula and the manufacturer may indicate a lower rating on the boat. (2 x Length x Width) - 90 = Max HP Example: My bassboat is 19' 6" long and the beam is 93." (2 x 19.5 x 7.75) - 90 = 212.25. I'm running a 200 HP motor on this boat.

Guide Don Mattern Passes Away in the boat
It's really a shame when someone dies at such a young age. My best wishes go out to his family.

Anyone use jigs for bed fishing??
Jigs, tubes, and lizards . . . . oh yeah.

Thinking about an upgrade...
Yeah, that's a no-brainer. The Crucial series rods are solid performers and quite a step up from the Clarus. If you have the money, do it.

Yum Money Hound
I tried the Money Hound out for the first time this weekend. Your assessment is right on in comparison to a Zara Spook, Raul. Also, I missed a couple of fish for the same reason.

Rat L Trap: first time to catch a fish with one
Nice. So now you're gaining confidence in a new lure. That's always a good thing.

What in the world has happened to KVD this year????
Like you, I thought that KVD would make up some ground at Pickwick and next week at Guntersville. After this weekend, there are only four tournaments left before the two postseason tournaments. It's going to be tough to get back in it.

Need Help Deciding: Rage Tail Space Monkey or Smoking rooster
Exactly. Rolo stated: This is starting to sound funny. Are we still talking about baits here?

flourocarbon line
If you're using spinning gear, then line twist is a given no matter what line you use. If you wish to save you can try cabela's house brand fc line, No-Viz or something like that. It is very similar to SeaGuar's Invizx, enough for me to opt for it over my beloved Invizx when money is tight. Low stretch in FC line is a relative term. Some fc lines can stretch more than mono and some don't contract to their regular size after the stretch as monos tend to do. I do what I can to minimize line twist by closing the bail manually and never starting a retrieve until I know there is tension in the line. The other thing I do is after every 8-10 casts, I will let the line "rest" as I call it and watch the line undulate as it untwists if there is twist. Hold your rod out at about 45 degrees and if there is twist present the lure will twist in alternating directions. It only takes a few seconds and that is time well spent vs. untangling severely twisting line resulting from neglect twist earlier in the day. As a result, I hardly ever experience line twist, even on my lesser spinning reels that aren't even in the Symetre class. I've used the Cabela's Fluorocarbon too. It is decent, especially when you consider the price but it's difficult to go back to it after using Seaguar. Still, for someone with a tight budget, it fills a niche and is acceptable.

What in the world has happened to KVD this year????
KVD was second to Skeet Reese in 2007 and won AOY back to back in 2008 and 2009. Then he won the 2010 Bassmaster Classic. I think he is due to have a mediocre Elite Series. I doubt it. If he wasn't intimidated after losing to him in 2007 he probably isn't now.

flourocarbon line
I have been using Seaguar InvisX in 8 lb for spinning rods and 15 lb for my baitcasters for awhile now. (I don't use fluoro on all my setups.) I also use the 8 lb a lot for deeper cranking. It is the best fluorocarbon I have used. The improvement in memory over other fluorocarbons alone justifies the price to me.

Carolina rigging
I like to keep my mind open to different methods even if a method, initially, appears to be less than adequate. For instance, if I am using a floating worm with a Carolina rig and I raise the weight, (i.e. Texas rig technique) my floating worm is going to rise in the water column and then drop back down when the weight hits bottom. The bait is, thus, effectively moving up and down while moving forward, a few inches or feet above the bottom. This will be a different action from the normal method of sweeping the rod. I normally sweep the rod, but I think there is a place for the T-rig technique, especially when using floating plastics on a c-rig. I see this as a method to use for bass suspended only a few feet off the bottom. I know that when the weight is off the bottom the bass can feel the weight when it takes the bait which is why the suggested method is to drag the weight. Using the t-rig method, I think the amount of time the weight is lifted off the bottom would have to be kept to a minimum.

G Loomis GLX
If the GLX series rods had a reputation for breaking they wouldn't be the benchmark. I treat all of my rods the same whether a $150 rod, or a GLX and the only rods I've broken over the years were a result of my own negligence.

Most Beautiful Part of the United States of America
Like everyone else, I can list a number of places that really tickle my fancy . . . . . the Ozarks, the Appalachian Mountains, where the Caribbean meets the panhandle of Florida, The Black Hills of South Dakota, the Badlands, Yosemite, the Marin Highlands north of San Francisco, the Rockies, etc. It seems like every state has something unique and beautiful to view. Probably the most beautiful site that I have ever witnessed was in Colorado. In 2005, I was driving West with my family on Highway 24 just a few miles east of Buena Vista. We came through a pass and were dropping down to the Arkansas River plateau below. Directly in front of us, the sun was going down behind the Collegiate Peaks just to the west of Buena Vista and clouds were trying to roll in over the top of some of the peaks which are all over 14,000 feet. The full height of the peaks could be seen with the flatland between us and the mountains. The colors created with the clouds and the sun going down were indescribably magnificent. Words are completely inadequate to describe such scenery.

What spinning rod under $150
You can purchase a Powell 703 MEF (Medium power with extra fast tip) for $139 which optimally works with baits from 1/8 to 1/2 ounce or you can go with the Powell 704 MHEF (Medium Heavy) which will handle 1/4 to 3/4 ounce baits for the same price. These are very good rods at this price point. If you are willing to expand your price range a bit a number of rods become available in the $150 - 200 range.
