New G.Loomis Line-up
Oh, come on, Kent. You can make some good money from K_Mac and me selling your old, "obsolete" rods and then you can purchase the latest and greatest. I don't know why you would want to keep that junk anyway.

powell and dobyns
Right now there's no Savvy Cranking rods. BUT there's no comparison in my mind with the Savvy Rods and Powell. The Savvy rods are far better balanced (major weak point in the Powell rods), and the quality is incredible. I only have one Savvy, it's a 735, but I've held a Powell 735 and it's an easy decision. The Savvy series are the real deal. While I agree that the Dobyns rods are better than Powells I believe the balance issue is blown out of proportion. I would call it a minor weak point, not a major weak point. Dobyns rods are better, but, in my opinion, most people will see a moderate difference, not a tremendous difference. I compare my Powells to my G.loomis MBR844c GLX and while the GLX is better it is not so huge as to pretend there is no need for comparison. What length are your powell rods? 7ft and under there's only a minor difference. But there is a night and day difference between a 7'6 - 8ft Powell and a 7'6-8ft Dobyns. Better balancing rods truly do help with fatigue, although some may not have issues with that. That's an excellent point, David, and one that I was thinking about this afternoon but I've been so busy I just got back on the forum. My Powells are 6'8" and 7'0" so I would think the longer rods would experience more of an issue with any imbalance.

Powell rods are very good rods and are difficult to beat at their price point. Gary Dobyns, who was initially involved in the design of Powell's bass rods, improved on the Powell designs when he started his own company, Dobyns. Since that time, he has developed multiple rod line-ups with increasing quality, and, hence, higher prices. You can't go wrong with either of these rod brands at their price points, in my opinion.

New G.Loomis Line-up
Kent, you definitely would have to shell out some cash to replace your armada of G.Loomis rods with the new ones. If they are $500 a pop my wife would have something to say about that purchase and I don't think her words would be very kind. It's difficult to justify paying that for a rod, when I can do just fine with $150 - $200 rods. However, I do occasionally slip in a purchase of a high-end rod but I have to pick my spots.

New G.Loomis Line-up
Work has interfered with my participation in the forums lately so I apologize if this topic has been covered already. (I found very little about it in a search of the last three months of the forum.) I'm trying to wrap my head around the thought of a rod model that is "20% lighter and 20% more impact resistant and 20% more sensitive than GLX" per the Tackletour article below. If the claims are true these are going to be some wicked rods. http://tackletog.com/zander/2010/03/18/g-loomis-working-on-new-flagship-rod-offering-above-glx/

Re: Big Bens Punishment...
Clay Travis said it better than I could. http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/04/21/roger-goodell-nfls-solomon-attempts-to-split-the-baby/#cntnt One doesn't have to commit a crime to be released or suspended by an employer. Playing this game is Ben's job. The NFL isn't the only employer who enforces unpaid administrative leave for employees alleged to have committed a crime, but having no conviction. Each incident is examined individually and if the employer determines there is enough evidence that the employee has impugned the integrity of the company, they can suspend the employee.
