Need help own how to catch this pig
This has been posted before but it is excellent information on spawning bass, especially the following points: (1) Don't cut off their escape route. (2) Get the male interested first, but don't hook him. (Hawg Caller alluded to this.) (3) Find the sweet spot on the bed. http://www.fieldandstream.com/fieldstream/fishing/photogallery/article/0,13355,1681003,00.html

Always take a dump before a long day of fishing.

Finding Bucketmouths in spring at a lake with little cover
This is a great place to start. And did I see the statement that there are rocks? If there is no vegetation or wood, any strategy that you implement will probably include the areas with rocks.

Pitching - Please Help
Pitching is like . . . well, pitching a baseball, at least regarding learning the motion. You will read instructions on how to pitch that tell you exactly where to position your elbow, the reel, etc., etc. To me that just makes it harder to learn. Every baseball pitcher has a similar motion but they all have customized that motion to suit themselves. Some kick the leg high while others barely lift it off the ground. Some throw overhand while others drop the arm down halfway between sidearm and overhand. The best way to learn to pitch is to watch someone do it, whether live or on a DVD, and then go out and try to imitate it, but make the motion your own. Then practice a lot. I find that I have to work the rust out when I go for long periods without pitching, like during the Winter. As for setting your brakes and your control knob, I would start with them in the same positions that you use for regular casting. Once you can make a short pitch with those settings, loosen them up from there until you find what is comfortable for you.

NEW PB :)
Nice hawg! I don't think anyone doubted your weight, just the length. You shorted yourself.

Citica 200 DPV
The DPV has the slower 5:1 ratio. My personal preference for this reel is to use it for deeper diving crankbaits, so I use 10 lb fluorocarbon since the fluoro sinks and helps me crank a little deeper. You could sacrifice some line strength and go to 8 lb fluoro to go even deeper.

Pitch It
I have a difficult time picking just one. During the course of a day of fishing, I'll pitch just about every plastic or jig that I use when the cover warrants it. I probably pitch tubes and jigs the most.

Old timers vs New Guys
I can't speak for all of the old-timers but I feel confident that most, if not all of them, keep up with new ideas in fishing. If you watch Bill Dance's show, pay attention to the Gamakatsu equipment log that is posted about half-way through the show. Bill generally uses a Lowrance LMS 332c at the console along with another sonar up front. The LMS 332c is a predecessor to the LMS 520c and is very similar. It is not antiquated. If anything, I would think that the guys who have shows definitely want to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Bass Software Fishing Guide - Check this out...
Do a search on Bass Fishing Matrix over the last year. There are a few threads about it. I haven't seen anyone rave about it.

Bass Software Fishing Guide - Check this out...
I have seen this advertised for awhile and they now have it in a program that you can load on your PC. I personally think experienced anglers can determine most of this on their own so I've never purchased it but it might be useful to some people. Then, again, who knows. I've never read a review on it. http://bassresearch.com/bass_fishing_matrix.html

Fluorocarbons for topwater fishing?
Copolymers, like Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultrasoft are different from pure fluorocarbon lines. Pure Fluorocarbon does sink and, if used with a topwater like a Zara Spook, the line will cause the nose of the lure to dig into the water. This makes "walking the dog" very difficult.

Backing off Drags
I do this but I don't wait until right before I leave to do it. I usually do it the night before a trip and I attach the lures or terminal tackle with which I plan to begin my day. These can change when I get to the lake, but this usually saves me time to start with. So I still run into the issue of lures coming loose from the hook keeper. After attaching the lures I turn the drag down, but not all the way so they won't come loose.

Girlfriend Complaining About My Fishing...
The devil is in the details. How weird? I mean, between work and fishing two times a week does that leave any time for her? If not, you have a problem and she has a right to be somewhat upset. If you do spend some time with her, it is an issue of balancing your time with her and with hunting/fishing. I would hope you guys could discuss this and come up with a compromise if this is the case.

Anyone notice
I can't say that I have found a favorite in my inexpensive stuff, but I have found the occasional pleasant surprise at the functionality that I obtained from some cheaper purchases.
