Powell rods
Powell rods are sensitive and have a ton of hook setting power to them. My catch rates have gone up a lot since converting over to them. Set the hook with a good hard stick and you're going to get them in, that simple! I have six-rods. Four old Endurance rods, and one 3D max. If you count right that is five, but the sixth rod is my future X-wife's (inferno rod). I think one thing they do right on those rods is they have a bigger diameter at the handle then most rods. I have an engineering degree and that larger diameter creates a larger moment of inertia (stop talking engineering WdyCrankbait!), which in turn means they are stiffer and can really adsorb a good hard (and deliver) hook set. You're not going to go wrong with Powell rods, I promise you that. Wdy

Patriarch XT vs Stradic CI4+
I have never owned a Stradic, but did own an older generation Pfluger Supreme XT. I loved that reel, but the body, or shaft bent twice on me and that was with minimal use. I'm not a Shimano guy anymore, but they do make quality reels. Wdy

Curado 50e Replacement
A 50e on a senko rod just did so well for me!! Something about that combo!

Curado 50e Replacement
I say fix the 50e. I had DVT put a 100mm Hawg Tech handle on, carbontex drag, Boca Orange bearings, and a 7 to 1 gear ratio from the 50 in mine. There are pitching and flipping machines!!

Northern Richmond bank/wading spots?
Echo is a great place to fish! There are a lot of healthy bass in there! The tough part is getting a bite without your lure getting all slimed up. PM in bound. Wdy

Northern Richmond bank/wading spots?
I would first look at Echo Lake in Glen Allen. Tough place to fish, limited access, but there are some healthy bass in there! Go with Green pumpkin plastics, creature baits. There is a layer of vegetation about 5 feet down in case you want to run some sort of crankbait. There is a fountain in the middle and a nice wooden pier to fish off of (very low side rail). From that pier heading away from the parking lot is shallower, and can be heavy vegetation. I did well there one day with a whopper plopper. As far as the James River, look at Pony Pasture. Park there, and follow the trail along the side of the river going with the current down about 1/2 mile. Hikers, mountain bikers will be on the trail, it is wide enough to drive a car down so you can't miss it. Just walk down that thing and you will see opening on the river to wade into. I popped a really nice smallie at the 1/2 moon beach opening. I would recommend Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed craw, green pumpkin. Or, go to the Wetlands on the James River. It is about 3-4 miles down that trail mentioned above, but you can drive to that access point and then make a shorter walk. Or, you can go to Brown's Island in the city, walk across that hanging bridge under the Manchester Bridge and fish that lake on/in the island. Good luck! Wdy

Wakefield VA
Yeah, I did get one on a GYCB Kreature bait. My best producing crawfish plastic I use. He was about 1.25 lb, dark back! Nothing big, but it has been awhile since I caught a bass. I chalk that up to taking too much advice from Sam during that dry spell. hahahahahah!!!! Anyhow, yes, I did let someone who has never fished before use my Lew's baitcaster and he got a mammoth birds nest. After 3 hours I finally had it picked out, I did not bring more line. (I swore I did, but it was sitting on my night stand when I got home.) Yep, ample gun fire yesterday! I thought there was a local milita getting ready for something! Great place to fish if you ever have the chance to fish it! Wdy

Dogwoods already in bloom in Richmond?
I’ve fished it. The lake is a Giant bowl. You really have to heave it out there. Healthy fish though.

Fly Fishing
Good to see this thread up and running. I have about 5 rods for bass fly fishing. I personally love me some smallie fly fishing for them. Echo 3S 9' 8 weight, Taylor Array 1 reel TFO 7 weight, with Allen Kraken III reel Orvis Rocky Mountain 6 weight (from the 90s) two-piece rod, with an Orvis reel (cant remember the name)

Tipptruck, where you be?
Sean and I either worked at Newport News shipyard, not Norfolk. Sorry for not being able to help out. But, I would imagine they would be comparable considering proximity and therefore competition to each other.

Dogwoods already in bloom in Richmond?
But you can still go fishing. Sam has beat the dogwood blooming into me so much that I hear it in my dreams. Lol!
