spinning rod for top water
I have a Compre' 6'-3" M/ML rod. The rod tapers from the handle down to the tip so, ton of back bone and hook set power! I use flukes, 1/4 oz. spooks, Pop-rs, etc. Can launch a lure a mile with 8lb line! Not sure if this size is still made or not by Shimano

Worst Lure ever bought?

Hit a nice one in Richmond ;)
Where? I see what might be acceptable to call pink...But certainly nothing nearly distressed enough to indicate spawning, if that's what you're implying. maybe my excitment to get out and fish has me seeing things.

So whats the hype with the color"Sexy Shad?"
You know I have thought the same thing! I dont use the the Strike King Sexy Shad cranks, but I have used an XPS nitro medium diving crank with its' version of the sexy shad color and done very well with it. But, I have also done well with Perch colored cranks. Personally, I think it is just a color pattern bass have not seen as much of so they think it is not a fake. Not sure, but that color pattern is only what 3 or 4 years old? I have used the lipless SK Sexy Shads assortment, and nothing!

Matzuo vs. Yo-Zuri
I have never used Matzuo, but from reading the other responses I am not missing anything. Yo-Zuri are weird looking, but I have done well with them, espeically the jerkbaits. With my luck with Yo-Zuri, and others against Matzuo I guess it was Matzstinko you heard.

Any guitar players here?
I am starting to learn. I have a Korean Hamer, now outfitted with some Lindy Fralin Un-buckers, coil-tapped of course, and an American Fender Telecaster.

Bass Pro XPS Professional Series Hardbaits
@Crankbait kid I have used the Nitro XPS lures medium diving cranks and done pretty well with them. (Their Sexy Shad rip-off color) But, I would not trust the others.

Revo Premier $129
@Flukeman, I posted a thread about 2 months about reel oils and it was pretty split. I use "Hot Sauce," and just had my reels taken apart and cleaned for the upcoming year. The guy that did it for me said the my reels looked fine! But, the jury was split between likes and dislikes of Hot Sauce, might want to try and find that thread.

Line Question
You might want to check into some co-polymer lines. I think that is great stuff there. Yo-zuri, and P-line.

Crainkbaits
I never caught any bass on crankbaits until the Rapala DTs came out. After that, it was lights out for about 4 months while I fished/learned them. Great crankbait lure! I love me some DTs!!

A bait you hate to use
Plastic worm Texas rigged with a bullet weight. I have been fishing for about 20 years, only two bass caught on them. Ugh, that is terrible. I never use them anymore so, I am sure my ratio is only going to get worse!

Richmond guys
I agree with you Sam, still too cold. There are a couple local bass clubs down here and I am starting to check their websites regulary post-tournament. If they start bringing in "sacks," I'm going fishing!

Another Big 'Un!
Nice fish! Ok, that is it, I am going fishing tomorrow!!

Worst Lure ever bought?
I picked up one of those jigs that when it fell in the water it would glide away from the fisherman, instead of straight down. Does anyone remeber that lure? I still have it, haha

Worst Lure ever bought?
Curious, what is the worst or the fishing lure you are most ashamed to confess buying?

What do you use spinning gear for?
Ditto with Crankenstein. I also use spinning for 1/4oz Pop-r and 1/4oz Zara Spooks

BPS Reel Trade In... Are you kidding me?!?
Yeah, that is a little jacked up not have Carbonlites on the second day. I have a 3-year old BPS Prolite baitcasting reel. It has to be the Carbonlite's big-brother (seeing the evolution of the Prolite and comparing the specs to a Carbonlite). It has done well for me, meaning caught a lot of fish using it! but, the casting is controls always left something to be desired for me. I hope BPS fixed that. I just never had the confidence to throw a different assortment of lure weights, the reel just seemed to like 3/8oz. and up.

Some help with mono line please!!!!!
Dont use seige it coils really bad I was looking to make a change this season from Berkley High Vis. Mainly due to lime memory coiling. BPS salesman suggested Suffix Seige in 10#. I took a shot and was very dissipointed. My line was parting on hookups and basic cast. I went with P-line CX. No problems with P-line CX 10#. That sucks Captain! But, I havent had any problems with Suffix, knock on wood. I have used P-line's copoly stuff, very nice. Good alternative to Yo-Zuri.

Richmond guys
I am from Richmond, but now live in Newport News. I went out yesterday, had to try out my new reel. I hit up Southlake with a KVD sexy shad chrome lipless crankbait. No fish caught, but I did get a ton of vegitation!
