  1. Just wondering if anyone has been out to Lake Wateree (SC) recently. Heading there this weekend for a father son camping/fishing weekend. We are staying at the state park. Even if we don't slay 'em, I'm sure we'll have a blast! Thanks for your tips.
  2. Same here. Mine does the same thing, but I'm not sure that it really means anything.

Hi, where in SC are you located? I'm in Rock Hill very close to Wylie. I will be hitting Wateree next weekend (camping and fishing with just my son). I can't wait! If you're near, perhaps we can meet for lunch sometime and talk about chasing bass on local lakes. Good luck to ya'
  4. I live close to Wylie, but usually don't fish it other than early season (too many crazy powerboaters). Docks, points, and timber have worked for me. Craws are a main forage as well as shad. I usually fish about 30 mins south where it's not nearly as developed, and there is a lot more natural shoreline with wood laydowns to fish. Good luck
  5. That's awesome!! I see he's already lipping it like a pro. I'm sure there will be many, many, many more to come.
  6. I hate to admit it, but I've been lazy with the kill switch. I'm in SC and have been reminded all morning about how lucky they were. It's convinced me to make sure I prioritize those "small" details that can mean the difference between life and death.
  7. It's funny that you ask that! I was asking someone that same thing just the other day, and still we have no answer
  8. I really appreciate your help and patience with my electrical ignorance. The starter spins, but not every single time. I did lube it. The voltages I listed were at the solenoid, and they did not drop, but read that constantly.
  9. I'm baaack! ok, here's where I am at this point. 12.+volts at the battery, 12.+ volts to the solenoid main positive which holds when cranking. On one side of the solenoid I have . 2 volts steady while cranking, on the other side I have 9.45 volts steady while cranking. I read somewhere that I shouldn't have less than 10 volts on that side.I can hear the solenoid click to engage. Any further suggestions? :-/
  10. I nearly ruined my laptop with a mouthfull of water!! ;D
  11. I really appreciate all of the guidance. I'm going to have to do some more investigating, and quickly too. The water is starting to warm
  12. I guess I need to pick up a voltmeter. At this point, with the cover off, I can see the starter spin. The gear spins every time, but doesn't go up the shaft to engage the motor every time. The shaft feels unrestricted, and the gear rides up the shaft freely by hand. When the gear does engage the motor, the motor turns at normal speed and doesn't drag at all.
  13. Starter, of course, why didn't I think of that??? Sometimes my brain is too focused on being in the boat I think. Thanks for the ideas!
  14. I have been having trouble (periodically) getting my motor to turn over.I turn the key and it doesn't do anything. If I keep trying it (3 or 4 times) it will turn over and start right up. Any thoughts? My battery terminals are clean and the connections there are tight. Thanks for your help.
  15. Wondering if anyone has been out on Lake Wylie and if you're having any success.
  16. I found and fixed the issue. It was a bad connection of 2 wires in the top housing. Cut, reconnected, and wrapped all wires with insulating electrical tape. Works like new and didn't cost a dime to repair!
  17. I have a 96 tracker with a motorguide tm. My speed control doesn't seem to be operating and I'm wondering if there is a switch that I can replace inside the foot pedal, or what. Weather the speed is set to 1, 2, or 3 it goes the same speed. If it's on 5, it feels right. Today I had it on 3 (moving at 1 speed) and it randomly started moving at 5 speed. Any ideas?
  18. I took both of my boys at age 2. I didn't take gear for myself, but I did bring snacks and drinks. We fished a municipal park that was loaded with panfish, and kept it exciting for them. The key in my opinion is to just let them have fun with it.
  19. Are jigs an effective bait for fishing the beds, or are soft plastics more productive? I am planning on getting serious with jigs this season, but I don't want to loose confidence right off the bat. What is your go to bed bait?
  20. I am 43, but feel significantly older
  21. Seriously flyboy?! My stepdad can't get off work any time real soon, and that's who I fish with down there. I will definitely check out that lodge. Thanks for the help. Any other tips/suggestions are welcome too Thanks again
  22. Hi all, and Happy New Year! I will be heading down to Fl sometime fairly soon and plan to fish Rodman. I don't have a date set yet, But I'm thinking spring (spawn). Can anyone tell me roughly the best time to go? Also, are there any places on the lake to rent? I have my own boat so I don't need to rent one. Thanks for all of your help
  23. What kind of structure/ depth are you fishing? I haven't been in the south too long (from Wisconsin), so this winter fishing without drilling through the ice is still new to me.
  24. I too love the original RC-3s, and am always on the hunt for them! I have a few jumbo sized SLUG-Os that I used for musky fishing. Perhaps they need to see some water time.
  25. Where do you live? I am sure that one of the fine folks on this site would be willing to help/teach you regarding this repair (including me if you're near).
