  1. I tried left handed reels many years ago specifically for the flipping/pitching technique. I now own all left handed reels. So much more natural to me. And yes I'm right hand dominant.
  2. That's just gangsta right there!
  3. So true! This is how I finally gained confidence with swimbaits.
  4. OG tatula frog rod 7' 4" is my favorite.
  5. I have it on one setup for flipping in clearer water. No complaints yet.
  6. Even in the cheapest of Walmart rods I've never seen braid cut a guide.
  7. I use 7' 4" and 7' 6" myself. Depends on cover and situation.
  8. If you ever find yourself in S FL hit me up. I may have a hole or 10.
  9. If this is true.... You ain't doing it right! ?
  10. Preach brotha! My new full time fishing partner is my 9 yr old son. Wouldn't jeopardize him for the world!
  11. Trial and error my friend. It has a lot to do with recent weather conditions and the specific body of water you are fishing. The weather should give you a decent indication of what the fish "should" be doing. Knowing the water should tell you the different kinds of prey available to the predatory fish. Matching the profile, color and moving speed of said prey is a good starting point. There's so much that goes into answering your question that it's impossible to ever answer it in whole.
  12. That's the exact one I use right now. Scored it new dirt cheap on Craigslist.
  13. Man if they had one with a 10" drop to accommodate my lift I would be all over that! Even with my backup camera I miss the mark. ?
  14. Just slap two 10ft power poles on that sucker to compensate!
  15. Never. Catfish is the only freshwater fish I eat. I will keep a few small ones for friends that do eat them once in a while.
  16. This^^ I have used them as well and love them. Just don't completely undo your bow straps backing down the ramp!
  17. Oakley turbine in red/gold lens
  18. Never said they were the end all be all of anything. I said they were useful and worth the money. But to me, fishing mainly all shallow water here in FL they are the best thing I've done to MY boat.
  19. Like I said, it's different everywhere. Here in South FL downsizing comes into play mainly after a bad cold front. I've never been much of a finesse guy myself. Never felt like I needed to. In my experience only, big baits catch bigger fish more often then small baits do.
  20. I've had the elite 2 and the TCS. The TCS to me fishes lighter then a true heavy. The recon is much more powerful. My favorite is the 796 recon elite 2 though.
  21. The approach is a little different in every part of the world. I mainly tie on big oversized baits when I want to target bigger fish. It doesn't always cut down on the small bites that much though. You'd be surprised what a dink will take on.
  22. Freakin switch has gotten me more times than I care to remember! The latest was while flying down the lake. I took a hard turn and over stretched the lanyard on my life jacket that hooks to the kill switch. Motor shuts off and we come off plane. I spent a half hour panicking and diagnosing crap before I sat in the driver's seat to call for a tow. That's when I saw it! ?
