Braided line - which ones stand out?
Can you PM me with more info on this line? If it's really no fade like the Vicious I'm using now at a fraction of the price I'd be really interested in trying it. Thanks

Would year-round daylight savings affect your fishing??
Nope! I'll still fish every chance I get.... business as usual.

Fishing cold water hydrilla
I go right into the thick of it with a T-rigged craw plastic in a color that mimics local forage. Usually with a heavier weight first to penetrate and try to provoke a reaction strike.

New Shimano Metanium MGL and Bantam MGL free spool issue
I think it has something to do with the silent tune. On mine I loosened the spool tension knob all the way back then removed the spool. I then reinstalled it back in making sure it was in right then readjusted the spool tension. That fixed my 2020 Metaniums.

Is the Curado XG still worth the price?
Assuming you're referring to the K, it was never worth that much to begin with but that's just my opinion. Also, I never pay retail for anything so there's that. The K is heavy, bulky and uncomfortable to palm to me. And with the release of the new MGL Curado 150 it's a no brainer to me. It can be had for around $180 as well.

I was super hyped when they announced this one. First things that came to mind with the shallow spool were flipping, pitching and punching. Then I saw that it has aluminum gears and that ruined the whole deal for me unfortunately.

Need a new reel, $200 budget.
Last time I checked all the current SVS infinity Curados have the external adjustment dial to fine tune the brakes.

Which High End Reel would you recommend...
If one of them did it then maybe it's a fluke. But 3 out of 3 with identical issues and purchased at different times .. I think not. I'm up to 12 USDM models and none of them have any of the issues I mentioned. A bad match maybe? Could be .....

Electrical Tape For Backing?
Mono backing only for me.

Which High End Reel would you recommend...
Where to begin? Tiny knobs/handle, lighter 100 size spool makes it unruly unless you crank the brakes down. And every one of them was never as smooth as the USDM version. Also, when I engage the thumb bar on the JDM version it has this very faint plastic on plastic sound, it doesn't click at all. The US version has a very pronounced thunk, metal sound. Same thing when engaging the handle. And on that same note, I've had too many instances where the JDM gets hung up and you can turn the handle but the spool won't reengage. I would have to physically push the thumb bar up with my finger. Every other reel I've tried in JDM versions I've had the opposite experience. They've all been better feeling than the US counterparts. This was the only one that was not like that. I tried a few of the JDM versions of the 20 Met and they were all identical.

I tried the JDM version of the Metanium MGL and won't do that again!

New Cranking Rig... Scorpion DC?
- High end football jig rod recommendation
Extreme HP 746 is what you're looking for. The Adrena 76xh is also very nice for that weight range.- Frog'n Reel Recommendations
The new Curado MGL is an all new platform and has no JDM counterpart. The current Scorpion utilizes the Curado 200k platform but with a 150 size spool capacity. It also weighs over an ounce more than the Curado. They are both amazing reels and both excel at long range casting. I have both but much prefer the looks and smoother feel of the Scorpion.- New Cranking Rig... Scorpion DC?
Give it a while ?- New Cranking Rig... Scorpion DC?
Let's not even go there! I placed an order with TW last Wed and it hasn't even been invoiced yet!! Just a small order of hard baits and terminal tackle and everything was in stock.- Frogs vs Poppers
Braid if I'm throwing into vegetation or using baits with heavy gauge hooks like hollow body frogs. Copoly for trebles and light wire hooks in more open water. Works great for me.- Shimano Curado MGL 150 First Impression
Your comments about the 150 mgl vs the SLX are just ridiculous, sorry not sorry. If you can't tell a noticeable difference between the two blindfolded then it might be you not the reels. The Curado is world's ahead of the SLX in the smoothness department. It only becomes more apparent when you tighten the drag and ACTUALLY USE THE REEL! And once you actually have a fish on and the reel is under load then you can really tell how smooth the micro module gears really are.- New Cranking Rig... Scorpion DC?
I suspect it has something to do with the bearings used in the Scorpions. They are said to be of higher quality than the US counterparts. The reel test points this out in the video of the Scorpion MGL I believe. That's another reel that's ridiculously smooth! But still, I'd take my modified 17s any day. They just palm and cast better.- New Cranking Rig... Scorpion DC?
Every Diawa I ever had was geary and had a buzzing sound right out of the box. And all the Curados have that issue with the dial. You have to loosen the screw that holds the dial retainer a little bit. That usually fixes the issue. Like I told you in our messages, the 21 Scorpion DC is the smoothest of any reel I've ever used. It literally feels like the handle isn't attached.- New Cranking Rig... Scorpion DC?
I tried to tell you lol. Any of the Scorpions even the 17 without the MM gears are smoother than the Curado DC. The Curado DC having the SVS dial where it does makes it uncomfortable to hold too.- Cynical
I'm only 38 but I've been cynical for years ? My life became so much better the moment I learned to not care what anyone thinks or says! Especially those on the internet. You can't please everybody man but the great thing is you don't have to! I think the majority of us here appreciate you and your insight on this forum.- Which High End Reel would you recommend...
I have a very long record of buying high end stuff at certain dealers so I'm at the point where I get deep discounts. Especially when buying in bulk. I'm not especially happy with the current price increases across the board though. So I'll definitely be waiting on major sales or discounts before I buy anything else.- Which High End Reel would you recommend...
I'm pretty sure only the higher end stuff gets the MGL III spool. The Curado utilizes the original one. It doesn't make a huge difference to be honest. I tried the 150 MGL Curado on a weightless senko and 15lb fluorocarbon and was very impressed! Especially for the price that you can get one for currently. Best bang for the buck going right now IMO. - High end football jig rod recommendation
