I'll admit I have a problem, haha. I'm in love with this reel and I bought too many. These are my spares that don't have rods yet. I have a bunch of others that are in rotation seeing daily use. Thank you sir!!

I'm actually out here right now testing it at work before the wind picks up. From what I can tell it just doesn't like wind at all! It's doing just fine with a light breeze and a 1/4oz tungsten and 10" worm. My son and I actually tried it out last night in the yard with a half ounce test plug against his SLX DC and the SLX was casting further by at least 25 ft or so with the same line and rod. IMHO unless you want the looks and the smoothness of the micro module gears, I believe the SLX is a much better value. My son wants it so I am going to give it to him and just stick to the Metanium DC that I already have. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad reel AT ALL. All I'm saying is that if you are in search for best bang for the buck this one isn't it. If you just want it and like nice gear then I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. If anyone that has used it feels like I am doing something wrong feel free to PM me.

Not sure if there is an issue just yet. It's spooled with 15lb CXX right now. It was also really windy but it is a DC after all right? If I put it on the wind mode there was no distance at all in the cast. The best settings ended up being internal on mono (N) and external on 3 with no side to side on the spool tension. The only other DC reels I've used are the Metanium and SLX and they were basically impossible to backlash. I'm going to do some more in depth testing this weekend.

Let me tell you this thing is unruly with that MGL spool! I'm not impressed at all with my initial testing. Backlashes galore.....

Soft Swimbaits
The bigger Berkley champ swimmer on an Owner 4/0 beast hook is my favorite all around right now. For any type of vegetation I only use the gambler big EZ with a 6/0 beast hook. For deeper structure I go with a Picasso 1oz head and a big 7" Bass Magic hollow belly swimmer.

How well do You deal with getting skunked?
Simple... I don't get skunked! ? I know where a certain one eyed dink lives yr round and he doesn't care what I throw at him, he'll take it!

Your Total Years
The first known picture of me fishing or at least attempting to is in 1988 when I was just 4 years old. I never had a father so it was always my uncle taking me. He was obsessed with bass fishing. I can remember being around 10 and getting into this tiny jon boat with him that was about the most unsafe thing ever and being terrified of it flipping over. It didn't even matter because I liked fishing that much. Now I enjoy all those things with my 12 year old son. There's very few things that can match just the 2 of us out there on the water free from all the stresses of life! Take a kid fishing, it may just change their life!

We're feeling it here in S. FL too finally! There was actually ice this morning as I left to work. They are still kinda hitting square bills and live bait though. ?

How fast is too fast?
I'm a speed junky so there's no such thing as too fast for me! I own a car that will do 200+ mph (yes I've tested it) and I had a boat that would do 90 easily. I blew the motor and ended up getting rid of the whole thing. Contrary to popular belief, you can go fast safely if you know what you're doing and use some common sense.

2022 Shimano Exprides!
I noticed that the new 711XH is now only rated to 2oz and starts at 5/8oz. The current model is rated from 1/2oz - 3oz. ? And the 73XH is also now rated from 5/8 - 2oz and is labeled as moderate fast on Shimano's website but fast on all the vendors sites. I am getting the 711XH, 73XH and the 72H to try.

I think something drastic has happened to the pond I fish
Same thing happened to a pond out in the middle of the woods that my son and I would fish. Biggest we caught their was 8.2lb. Well one day this drunk guy on an ATV saw ours parked out on the trail where we left it to walk in on foot. He found us and literally sat there making small talk watching us catch fish. Immediately after that we started finding beer cans, empty bait bags, trash, gun shells and even a broken rod there! The fishing slowly diminished through the course of over 2 yrs. Eventually we couldn't catch anything there, not a single bite. We thought for sure they had caught and kept everything in there! We decided to go diving this summer and guess what? So many bass still there! What I noticed is that the biggest ones we saw were on the south end of the pond in HEAVY vegetation. That side is not accessible on foot unless you had a boat but getting one to that pond is almost impossible. So, next experiment was to use live bait. The only forage in there are bluegill and hundreds of them. So we caught a few and tossed them out on dollar store balloons on our flipping sticks. Guess what? We immediately started slaying bass! The only thing I could conclude is that the huge amount of fishing pressure in such a small pond for such a long time made them stray away from artificial baits. I'll say the water is crystal clear and the maximum depth there during the rainy season is about 10 ft. You can easily see to the bottom in those depths. Now, that probably has nothing to do with your situation and I'm probably not right in my own either so take it for what it's worth. Just figured I would share and maybe get feedback from others as well.
