Fishmas in January raffle

Long story short.  I missed joining Fishmas 2021. I could make up a story but, the truth is I forgot about it. I’m not sure of the logistics but, completely unsolicited, Mike Siebert @Siebert Outdoors connected with @deaknh03  Mike bought Christmas gifts for my grandson. While I truly appreciated the gesture. I also want to give back.  I got the ok from @Glenn I'm going to run a raffle for https://www.catchadream.org/

I am going to raffle off a $50.00 gift pack of Siebert Outdoors merchandise https://siebertoutdoors.com/ pictured below. The raffle begins on Jan 1st 2022 and ends on Jan 31st 2022. I have set up a go fund me page titled BR Fishmas in January for Charity. 100% of your donations will go directly to https://www.catchadream.org/  While I don’t have a “goal” number in mind, I’m forced to set one up. Every bit helps. Let’s beat it.

The raffle is open to all BR members with at least 100 posts. I don’t want people who do not participate in the forum to sign up just for the raffle although donations are still appreciated.

Click on the Go Fund Me link below. Make a donation under your BR username. $5 minimum donation and no maximum. You can only enter once. On or around Feb 1st we will pick a random name from the list of donors, announce it in this thread, and the winner can work with @Siebert Outdoors to get his/her $50 in merchandise. (Shipping cost is the responsibility of the winner).

If and when you guys/gals donate, please refrain from using the word raffle. Apparently it's against the gofundme rules.

Nope - I used PayPal and it logged my real name...though I did put a comment in the GFM with my screen-name.

Shameless bump

C'mon guys. Lets get this rolling. We're 15% of our goal after 1 week. 3 weeks left. Your money starts where Make-A-Wish stops and a chance to get some hand tied jigs from @Siebert Outdoors is well worth it.

Their mission statement

It is this very message of hope, as promised in Isaiah 40:31, that we seek to instill in these children and their families. We use hunting and fishing as opportune tools to expose them to the “..wonders of God…” that await them in “The High Country,” as they spend time in the outdoors, away from the bleak and sterile world of medical facilities, treatments, and hospital gowns, but in the presence of The Creator who is the Author of real hope.

On each trip, the children and the family members who accompany them, are surrounded by outdoors-minded people who understand that these children are often “…sick and tired of being sick and tired!” A designated Catch-A-Dream host accompanies each family and, together with outfitters and local volunteers, facilitate their dream experience, love and nurture them through the strong personal relationships that inevitably are forged in the lodge, on the stream or in the woods. Hosts and volunteers often become their best friends, and remain a part of their families long after the dream trip has concluded. As one volunteer eloquently stated, “We can’t change the whole world; but we can change someone’s whole world for at least a short period!” Many parents have confirmed that the mission is consistently accomplished!

Shameless bump Paul? Nah, not at all…. I think we’re all happy to help with this cause and keep it relevant in the eyes of the Bass Resource community.

I left you hanging for a bit, but you know this touches my heart. Having gone through childhood cancer myself I would not resist to donate to this. Make a Wish is a great cause, it doesn’t help kids like us Paul. I was asked if I wanted a wish and what I wanted was a hunt. They don’t do that with Make A Wish which I totally understand. I turned down all offers anyways because I was going to survive my illness, either way this is a great cause and I’ll be a voice for this cause anytime!

Thank you Paul, you’re a great man!
