Struggling with summer overcast days
I look for them close by to the same areas where they would be on sunny days in or tight to cover. They just roam more when it's cloudy. Your best bet would be faster moving techniques that allow you to cover a lot of water until you find some. I like lipless traps, buzz frogs, spinnerbaits and even big swimbaits that they will maybe not always hit but follow and give up their position.

Cooking
Absolutely I can and love to in those rare moments that I actually get time. Outside grilling is charcoal only of course! Some of my wife and kids favorites include fajitas(skirt steak) on the grill with all the fixings, porterhouse steaks with lobster and smoked racks of baby backs. Inside they like it when I make "waffle house style" chicken breast burgers, shrimp and steak Alfredo and enchiladas.

What specific baits do you have tied on at all times? In other words, what bait specific rods do you have?
- 7' 3" XH with 50lb braid for hollow body frogs only. - 7' 9" H with 20lb fluoro for 1-3oz treble swimbaits only. - 8' H with 25lb fluoro for 3-7oz treble swimbaits only. - 7' 11" XH with 60lb braid for punching rig(weight, skirt, craw) only. - 7' 6" H with 50lb braid for flipping & pitching plastics only. These are the setups that never change and I never leave at home. The rest are all really versatile work horses.

PayPal has me RILED UP!!!
I've used PayPal for almost everything for longer than I can remember with zero issues. They've also saved my butt from unethical sellers more than once. And there's actually a number you can call and speak to a live agent. I just had to today and they are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Humbled at Istokpoga (trip report)
I live 5 min from Istokpoga and fish it regularly. The islands and areas where bullrush and pads combine are you best bets. If you don't have a flipping stick in your hand here during these dog days you're doomed! The fish push back DEEP into the reeds during this heat. I always have at least a 1oz punch rig tied on an 8ft meat stick. My 11lb 1oz PB came from this lake along with many over 10lb. Better luck next time buddy.

How Old?
I was 25 and she went an oz over 11lb! Crazy story about that one too. I was just getting into dedicated flipping/punching and was uninformed. I was out one day late Dec targeting thick isolated cane patches with a 7ft MH/F rod, 20lb fluoro(way underpowered for FL) and a Gammy EWG hook. I pitch into a clump and immediately get hammered. I reel down and set the hook hard and the rod snaps about 3ft down from the tip! I still had the fish on for a couple seconds then it was gone. My hook was also almost completely straightened out! I didn't get the fish and was obviously upset. That night I load up and drive 2hrs to the nearest BPS to me. I bought a Shimano Crucial flipping stick, 65lb braid and superline EWG hooks. The next Sunday I go back to the exact spot and landed my PB. I'll never know for sure if it was the same fish that broke my rod the first time but I really do think it is.

Power poles and trolling
I've never trolled for trout but I've trolled shiners behind the boat for bass and my poles have never been an issue. I will usually deploy them down half way just up off the bottom or so. I sometimes forget they're there. All I know is the benefits FAR outweigh the negatives IMHO.

Spot stealing
It use to make me furious back in the day but not anymore. I was on a nice shell bar in about 25ft killing them on a bullshad and a guy drives right up to us maybe 3 boat lengths away and starts dropping waypoints...haha! I'm like geez you could've at least initiated a conversation and been a little bit more stealthy about it! Life's so short that I try not to let too much get to me now a day. Any day I get on the water with my son shall not be ruined by sorry people!

Who introduced you to bass fishing?
My uncle, who basically tried his best to play a father figure role in my life. I never had a dad so he did his best. I must have been around 4yrs old. I've seen pictures of me holding catfish and bass. When I was around 10 or so he got his first boat. It was a 12ft jon boat with a trolling motor. Something unexplainable happened to me after that first trip on an actual boat! It's all been downhill from there, haha. We try to plan a trip together at least every few years but sometimes time just gets away from you. Him living in CA and me in FL now it's even more difficult.

- 2020 new Shimano reel release?
All I wanted was a 70 size with micro gears and maybe even an MGL spool. But since that's not happening I just ordered the micro gears from the Engetsu and will also be adding handle/worm shaft bearings to one of my Curado 71 reels to make my own.- 2020 new Shimano reel release?
Looks like nothing new was released for Shimano today on TW. ?- Live Target Swimbaits
I bought a few and they were trash! Zero action and never got a sniff on them.- Piscifun reels
I have the Phantom on a Dobyns 734 fury rod. That's my beater combo for ponds and carrying in the back of the truck. It's held up fine so far to the abuse. It's a little geary feeling but a cleaning will probably fix that.- Original Tatula Rods???
Fleabay will be your best bet. I broke my last one a few weeks back. They sent me one of the new cork handle ones. I will admit I am impressed with these new ones. My favorite of all time is the Zillion though. If I ever break those I will cry.- SLX XT vs Tatula 100.
I bought both for my son. He chose to keep the Tatula. Much better feeling and it freaking bombs lures! I was so impressed I ordered me one. They can be had for under $100 on fleabay as well if you check frequently.- 10lb Braid Vs 50lb Braid
You must not be fishing the right places buddy. I've broken off 65lb on my 8ft punching stick before. It gets real in FL.... real quick!- JDM Scorpion MGL or Curado K?
Scorpion MGL for sure. I had that reel and it cast 1/4oz baits "too far". I had a few Ks as well and they never impressed me one bit. I believe there's a comparison video on YouTube.- Which reel should I get for my birthday?
Out of those I would go Tatula no questions asked! My birthday was a couple weeks ago and I got myself a Chronarch 151G. ?- What Was Your Favorite One On Saturday Morning?
Bill Dance for sure- Most embarrassing moments
Forgot the power poles down and thought my motor was broken when I couldn't get on plane! Forgot to turn the kill switch to on. Spent 2 hours diagnosing the motor at the ramp because it wouldn't start. Everyone just stared as they put theirs in the water! - 2020 new Shimano reel release?
