  1. There are deals out there that seem too good but are legit. Check it out for sure it won't hurt to. I just drove from FL to GA for mine 7hr one way. Older guy, wouldn't even send more pics cuz he didn't know how. His grandson listed it on CL for him. It was priced the same as most of the junk here and listed as being mint. I just had a feeling about it and made the drive. All turned out well the guy just hit a rough spot in life and needed cash. I got a mint 20' bass boat for the price of the fixer uppers i saw here. Best of luck....
  2. Very easy to do with out a lift. We did a buddy of mines power pole like this with that style bracket. Use a piece of wood and a jack to support the engine under the skeg. Just go very slowly and be careful, not hard at all. If you don't feel confident though just take it in.
  3. I ended up going with the binder idea and it works great. Got my power poles all done and working. These things are absolutely awesome! I took my boy out fishing yesterday for Easter and immediately saw their worth!. It was his first time actually fishing and not just joy riding. We ran up on a school of dinks outside of a weedline in open water. I was able to anchor with the poles and concentrate on just helping him through the basics without ever worrying about fighting the strong winds we had or the trolling motor. He actually got 2 half way to the boat before they got off. He didn't seem to mind so it was good enough for me. At the dock they were very useful too. Thanks for all the input guys...
  4. I have the Elite 5 DSI and tried it up front on the TM. There was interference for sure. Not sure if it was from the prop spinning or because its a wireless TM. I ended up putting it at the console & transom and it works good now. Also, take a look at the beam the DSI units actually use. It is not very good for a TM unit imo. It is very narrow not cone like a 2D sonar. So every time you move directions with the motor you are potentially looking at different things under or away from the boat.
  5. Glenn, pictures would be awesome if you could. I watched that vid on Youtube a couple times before this. I asked about that style bracket and was told that it's not really used anymore. So do the poles move up & down with the jackplate with this set-up? If so, you lose some reach with the plate all the way up don't you? Getting an eye that is bent away from the plate would be my preferred solution but i havent found anyone that sales them bent and i dont think the stock ones are long enough to bend. I have been told it may not be legal to trailer with tie downs on the jackplate. But if im not mistaking, some boat manufacturers rig them like this from the factory.
  6. That thought did crossed my mind. If i can fit one in there. I spoke with power pole and Bobs machine shop with not much luck.
  7. Added better pics to describe the issue.
  8. This is the second pair of brackets but its not the setback that is the issue. The part of the bracket that actually bolts through the plate is what sandwiches against the transom eye. All the brackets are the same thickness in that area. I was looking for an eye that was angled or had offset of its own but they are all pretty much the same.
  9. I will try and explain this as best i can. I just added a Bobs 6" action jack plate to my Nitro. I also attempted to add dual power poles with the side mounted brackets that bolt to the jackplate. I had to get the spacers that go between the jack plate and the PP brackets to clear some bolts on the plate. When all this is installed, i have no room to connect my trailer transom strap hooks to the transom eyes. The PP brackets squeeze right up against the eyes where the transom straps hook too. I really dont have room on the transom to relocate them either. Called Bobs and they said not to re-drill anywhere else for the brackets. Said that's where they put holes and they shouldnt be messed with! I am looking for any suggestions on this guys.
  10. Wouldn't even consider anything less than a 7.1:1 for any plastic lure technique.
  11. It's all about balance imo. I have a new Cumara/G3 Revo STX combo that is feather light but is still tip heavy. I have a Dobyns Savvy and G3 Revo SX combo that weighs more but is perfectly balanced. The balanced combo is much more enjoyable to fish with even though it weighs more.
  12. I made it a point to fish in boats that had both these units before i made my decision. I went with power poles. I like that they move out of the way and imo, they hold better. If you use the jack plate brackets with the angled offset it gives the poles a really wide stance once deployed. plus they just look waaay cooler.....and we all know that is what really matters!
  13. Pics or it never happened......
  14. This exactly^ never been to a lake that didn't hold a few nice ones in shallow cover.
  15. Just got this combo Mon and love it so far! Dobyns 704C Savvy with a G3 Revo SX HS. Trying different lines but i think 40-50lb braid shall win again.....
  16. I have often wondered about this myself but come out empty each time! I have even heard from some that it's simply how a bait looks, colors, shape, flash etc. They find it cool or pretty looking and figure the fish will agree. For me it is the Texas rigged plastic worm. I would have no problem taking just that and various weight sizes to control depth to any lake and be 100% confident that i will catch fish.
  17. DEFINATELY heavy cover here! It is my passion to haul big fat bass out of the nastiest slop around. Not to say i am not versatile or "good" at any other styles, but none interest me as much.
  18. Great point mnbassman23, i use to have to get use to a 6'6" due to it being so "long", lol. Now, my 8' flippin stick seems just right. I have 2 rods 7' but none under that! They feel so short and whimpy....
  19. Both, imo are preferance and your style of fishing. I think the ruling on micro guides is still up in the air at this point. I own 4 rods with micro guides and honestly see no difference other than a slight weight reduction. I flip/punch with a 7' 11" Cumara with micro guides and they are holding up great in this FL slop. As for the tip i prefer XF for flipping and fast or even Mod fast for punching. The XF tip i feel lets me get more accurate flips/pitches since im usually using heavier weights. If you want an all around stick that can handle most styles well i would say a 7' 6" & up in H/F or MH/XF. They will handle very similar....
  20. Pictures show that i was around 3. My uncles where crazy about bass fishing and they would take me. Sure glad they did....
  21. You & me both! I gave up on mine for numerous untold reasons....just go alone or take wife now.
  22. Crap, my boat bottom is black! No wonder i aint catchin em....
  23. If you must stay in that price range i would look at the Shimano Compre 7' 7" MH/XF. There is a seller on eBay who deals them for about $100 shipped new. TW has them for $120 shipped. It is a lot of rod for the $. I have used both Compre and Veritas and prefer Compre.
  24. This is some good info J Francho i always just thought nobody would listen! I will definately try that. Sam, yes i called Power Pole directly and they do not currently offer anything to lock the anchors down. They did however offer to give my buddy who got his stolen another one! they said the pump is the expensive part and since they didnt get that they could find him a replacement! Excellent service... i thought about a camera as well but will be adding an alarm to the boat first. Ading all these "toys" is really adding up in $$ so every bit of protection helps. Guy that works with me has some of the new Blades and says he chains them down to the jackplate while parked! Lmao.....
