6.4 or 7.1?
I use an 8 ratio for all my glide baits and heavy power rods. Gives you total control over your glides. And it can double as a great pitching stick, frog rod and Carolina rig rod as well. The higher ratio let's you pick up line much faster. Either when fish make a run towards you or after your bait exits the strike zone you can get it back for another cast faster. I only own one 6 ratio and it's on my jig hook swimbait rod. I usually slow roll those on the bottom and it helps slow me down a bit.

Jig and plastics rod
Daiwa zillion 7' 3" mh/f jig & worm model hands down for me. Feather light and balances really well with any bait caster. Sensitivity is awesome as well. They can be had for $183 on a couple sites right now.

Daiwa Tatula Casting Rod
I have that exact rod and to me it's more of a traditional H/F rod. It's very stout with a lot of backbone. I use it for buzz toads, pitching light to moderate cover and even open water froggin. I have it paired with a model a reel and it balances perfectly. Look on Walmart website for deals on them. They randomly put one Tatula model on sale every few weeks. That's where i got mine shipped for $98.

Loading /unloading
When alone i unhook everything before getting to the ramp. Back down slowly to the water then proceed to slam the breaks. When she floats back proceed to lower the power poles. Go park the truck and then enjoy fishing!

What weight fluoro for deep cranking?
Not much defense against those toothy critters besides steel leaders (not an option on cranks). But when i deep crank i use 10-12lb but never more than 14lb fluoro.

Do you have a "Beater Rod"?
Most definitely have beater/bank combos. I have 2 Lews speed sticks from Walmart and 2 Daiwa excelers .... on sale at TW for under $50 right now. Both 7ft, one MH/F and one M/F. One reel in 7 ratio and one in 6. Both with 30lb braid and use different leaders as needed.

Man I've had my eye on those for a while now. There's one on eBay right now. I just can't pay that for a bait. If i did i would have to throw it on steel wire to make sure i didn't lose it, lol. The Hinkle shad also looks really good! Seems like the bull shad quality control took a fall since he stopped making them himself.

Think I'm going to pass on this and go for a Mattlures strong shad instead. For $70 i expect way better...... Just saying

So funny you would say that bro.... My line tie is crooked as all get out and i got a floating model when i ordered a slow sink! Mike claims some of the line ties are crooked due to tuning them before shipping. Now i have to return it for the right sink rate. The package is marked slow sink.

This just came in today, 8" Bullshad! A little disappointed that they are overrated in size. I didn't know this but the 8" only measures a hair over 7". Can't wait to find out if the hype is real with these!

Medium-Fast vs. Medium-Heavy(TopWater)
I use a 7' MH/F with straight mono for all my topwater needs. If i do for some reason use a M/F i run straight braid.

Covering Bases on a Budget
Honestly for the money the blackout rods can't be beat. On sale right now at TW for dirt cheap! I would do a 7' M/F, 7' MH/F and a 7' 3" MH/XF. I can do just about everything with those sizes.

Looking for a swimbait Rod

Diehard Shimano user....heading to the darkside?
I use to be very brand loyal myself. I was a die-hard Abu fan since the age of about 15. Last year i had some really disappointing customer service issues with them. I couldn't believe how i was treated and I'll never invest another penny in them! I slowly sold all 30 of my Revos and now am slowly rebuilding my arsenal. I have a bunch of concepts and a couple Tatula HDs that i love so far. I'm not going to worry about being brand loyal anymore and just go with what works. Heck i might even try a Shimano, maybe . . . . . .nah probably not lol!

Which type of line is best for fishing brush, lay downs, and rocks
I stay away from braid around any kind of wood. Tends to dig into it and hang up easier. Fluoro for me....

Abu winch only a crank reel?
