  1. ROLO, What's up brotha! I've been out of the game for a few years man. I blew my Nitro up and sold it. But I'm back and better then ever. Might see you around soon.
  2. I'm in Lake Placid and i fish a lot of small ponds around my house that are crystal clear. Also lake Grassy and June are pretty clear. As stated before, it's much more difficult to catch bass in clear water. My only success has come on realistic looking crank baits and swimbaits. And always fluorocarbon spooled up.
  3. No way, 6k is way too much for an old boat like that one. Patience is key when looking for a used boat. No impulse buying at all! Trust me the right one always comes along.
  4. Sadly, due to work i didn't get out nearly as much as I would've liked to in 2016. Heck my biggest wasn't even caught out of the boat! It was on the way home from work at a pond near my house. Caught it on a live target 6" golden shiner swimbait. I usually get at least one over 10lb a year..... Maybe 2017 will be better.
  5. We were out there about two weeks ago and caught them on all kinds of stuff. Early morning a few came on lipless rattle traps and spinnerbaits. Then flipping and punching big weights with small craw lures. And the biggest of the day a 7lb came on a big swimbait.
  6. I agree with the above 100%. The Big O is very overwhelming. I recommend trying lake Istokpoga in Highlands County. Monster bass are being caught right now. Look for heavy vegetation in deeper water(5ft is deep for that lake). Jig and craw trailer, rattle traps and plastic worms with heavy weights work really well.
  7. I had 2 sd cards on my phones get corrupted that had some of my best photos. I used free recovery software called Restoration on my pc to get everything back. Takes like 2 hours just collecting everything but worth a shot. A better one is Card Recovery but it costs $.
  8. Well who would have thought that was coming^… i currently own all three and they are all great reels. I do prefer the STX over all others though. Nothing wrong with the SX if you know what your doing with a bc. The S i got as a combo with a Veritas rod, for matching purposes. You really can't go wrong with the Revo line imo.
  9. Im on there with 4 over 8lb this yr. Got some stickers and a certificate but no prizes likes mentioned. Got 2 over 10lb so that should qualify me!
  10. I have seen some people make there own but it wasnt as nice looking. I guess if you have the tools needed to make one and paint it than it should be the same. You are spending a bunch on the PP so why not just get the right bracket for a little more? That way you are covered by them if anything were to go south....
  11. Give em the ol pitch n punch combo. Big tungsten weight and a sweet beaver. On a flippin stick of course...
  12. Depends on what kind of plate you have and size? Mine is a Bobs Hydraulic 6" and it was pre-drilled for PP right from them. It is however a tight squeeze. Make sure you have enough clearance both on the outside where the brackets may lay against any bolts and inside to make sure the bracket hardware wont be hitting anything. I had to get spacers for mine due to obstructions from bolts on the plate.
  13. I finally gave up drag racing and sold my beloved 93 Mustang dragster. I have been fishing since i was a young boy and racing since i was 16. Used the $ from the sale to buy my last boat. I work 60-70 hrs a wk so no time for any hobby let alone two! Figured fishing is a little less dangerous and a lot more fun. No cheaper though both are $$ pits!
  14. Sounds like a heck of a spinner bait rod or a pitchin stick for docks/light cover. Surely not punching rod though. Honestly most 7' 6" flipping sticks are not even up to the challenge of true punching. I have found that an 8' rod is just about perfect for this technique.
  15. That is mostly what it boils down to. But the strength/drag of a reel can actually be proved with testing. That was the main deciding factor for me since i use mine for some heavy duty cover here in FL. The Lews drag slipped on me many a time while punching. The Revos have yet to do it...
  16. I decided to try a couple of the Lews Tournament Pro after all the good reviews about the company. Since they are now made by the same people as my Abu reels i figured why not. Put it up against my favorite, the G3 Revo STX for heavy duty flippin, punching & frogging. NO WAY it is better in any one category. Especially the stopping power mentioned before. The Lews is definately a smooth reel and casts just as far but it has nothing on the strength of the Revo line. I liked mine a lot but wouldn't consider trading my Revos for them. Ended up selling them to a buddy who uses all Lews. So you are correct OP, just because they are made by the same people in the same factory they are NOT the same....
  17. Idk if you want answers from just new boat owners but here goes. I have an 02 Nitro NX 896 with a 200hp Merc and tandem trailer. Bought it used in mint condition with a custom Nitro cover from original owner for $7500 paid in full. Repairs so far have been just a few hundred in maintenance luckily (knock on wood). Upgrades are another story all together. I have somewhere around $8,000 sunk in that already! Hydraulic jackplate, dual power pole set up, keel shield, radio system, Lowrance DSI units, all new optima batteries, new prop and some better outboard decals. Probably forgetting some stuff too. Worth it to me though.....
  18. What bruno said.....two very easy projects if you take your time and read up on it. you can get the bracket for the PP that goes between motor & transom to avoid drilling holes. I mounted mine to the jackplate.
  19. I LOVE mine too! They are a real game changer in these shallow FL "flippin" lakes i roam. Rich at Hydrilla gear hooked me up with everything i needed at an unbeatable price. Single best add on i have done to any boat!
  20. I mean two of these(see pic) one on each tie down bolt. Assuming you can squeeze one in there. I got lucky and they barely fit. Get you some stainless ones with a high lb rating.
  21. I have one on my console that shuts off all accessories like pumps, sonars lights etc. And one in the bilge that shuts off my jackplate and power poles.
  22. No way, unbelievable! I been following his stuff since a kid. Caught many big FL bass on his topwater snake lure. Sad day, R.I.P DH.
  23. His that we installed it on is a 150 hp saltwater Merc.
