  1. when you have the 1-800 order number for bass pro on your speed dial!! When the people at bass pro know you on a first name basis.
  2. I just started bass fishing and one of the first things I did was start a fishing log. I've been keeping Deer and Duck hunting logs for years and they work great.
  3. I've been catching a lot of smaller fish in 3 to 4 ft of water in the weeds and lilypads. Most of these fish are 14 to 16", occasionally we'll get one around 3lbs. Fishing deep water is my weakness!! I've got to start learning how to fish it though.
  4. Unfortunetly for me, I'm having to work a lot of overtime this summer. I work 2nd shift 10 hrs mon-thurs. and 5 on Friday, then I have to be in at 5am on Saturday morning and work till noon. But I'm on the water by 3:30 on Saturday evening. Then I'm usually on the water by first light on Sunday.
  5. Neither!! Wild turkey 101 and coke!! ;D sunshine or rain???
  6. Trailer Allstar or falcon??
  7. I'm from East of Tulsa Ok. In the small town of Catoosa. God bless Green country we've got a ton of lakes around here.
  8. crank! Fishing or work???
  9. Favorite Honey hole!! FLW or B.a.s.s.??
  10. Almost a pro, when you fish Gibson, do you fish up the river or in the main lake? I haven't fished Gibson in several years, and I just bought a new (to me) Triton bass boat. I may go to Gibson this weekend.
  11. Kevin Van Dam Stren or Trilene?
  12. Sinking! Evinrude or Mercury??
  13. Fishinfool, Yes mariner was made by merc, They no longer make mariners but I've been told that you can still get parts for them. I've also been told that they used merc parts in the mainers, but I don't know that for a fact. I took the Triton out this evening and it runs great. this is the smoothest riding boat I've been in.
  14. Right now, i'm just fishing small city lakes. Like Claremore, Shell lake, and Dripping Springs. I also fish Skiatook, Oolagah, Ft. gibson , Eufala, Spavinaw, and Keystone. I'm planning on fishing Grand in the near future, A buddy of mine and I are going to fish a big bass tournament on Grand August 28th, he fishes Grand quite a bit and knows it fairly well. This will be his and my first tournament. I plan on fishing as many different lakes here in Eastern Oklahoma as I can.
  15. My wife says I'm a 10, but I don't think I'm that good looking!!! LOL!!! OOOOH, you mean fishing skills. I catch fish every time I go out, most are 1 1/2 to 3 lbs. I haven't landed anything over 4 1/2 lbs. I'd say maybe a 3. But not satisfied with that and I'm shooting for a 10.
  16. Almost_A_Pro, there are several clubs here in northeast Ok. I am currently looking to join one myself. if you do a search on oklahoma bass fishing clubs you'll find several. Good Luck!!
  17. Well, I went ahead and traded the javelin. I bought a 2001 Triton Tr-186. It has a newer 150 Johnson on it. They gave me a warranty on this boat as well. My dad and grandfather both had johnson motors and never had any trouble with them. The last boat I bought was an 18ft alumaweld with a 40 hp merc and I never had any trouble with it. The place I bought this boat from has all the service records on this Triton so I'm gonna give it a shot. If I do have problems with this one then the next one will be a merc.
  18. I have a 1999 Johnson 150 on a 1999 Javeline Renegade 18. I bought the boat late April, and it's been in the shop more than on the water. 1st time the oil injection system quit and I lost 2 cylinders. The place I bought the boat from fixed the 2 cylinders and it didn't cost me a dime. Now, 3 wks after getting it back I've lost 2 different cylinders. The place I bought the boat from is offering to put a new power head on the motor, on them, or if I choose I can buy a different boat. I'm considering a different boat, one with a Mercury. Has anyone else had trouble with there Johnson outboard? I'm really getting frustrated, this is my first bass boat and I'm wanting to start fishing tourny's. But I'm losing confidence in this boat fast!! Any helpful suggestions welcomed!!!
  19. I've got a 17' 6" Javeline renegade with a 150 hp johnson both are 1999 models. I've had the boat for 2 months and it's been in the shop more than on the water, right now i have to make a decision to keep it after 2nd rebuild or to buy something different. Mine also seems to choke out on take off. it blew 2 cylinders last Saturday. This is the 2nd time in 2 months, the place I bought it from has been awsome and so far it hasn't cost me anything. Last time they just rebuilt the bad cylinders, this time they are putting in a new power head.
  20. Thanks Muddpuppy, I've been hearing a lot about shaking fish off during prefishing, I haven't started fishing tournaments yet. I just bought my first fiberglass bass boat a couple months ago and I plan on starting tournaments in September.
  21. I agree, all the bass I've caught this summer have been in less than 4ft of water. All around vegetation. Lillypads and weeds. But, nothing over 5lbs although I lost 4 fish Monday that got back into the thick stuff on me and came off, They were good fish just not sure how good. Biggest one we boated was 3 1/2lbs.
  22. Hey mudpuppy, I'm fairly new to this bass fishing stuff, just how do you rig a fluke without a hook?
