  1. fishinfool, My outboard is hooked up to my cranking battery. Everything else is hooked up to my trolling batteries
  2. Shellback, 19ft is a pretty good size boat. Any of the more prominent brands will make you a good boat. I've been in a few aluminum boats and none of them ride like a fiberglass boat in rough water. What ever you decide get a test drive first. Or by from a reputable dealer, I bought my first boat a Javelin from a reputable dealer and they warrantied the boat for 30 days and I'm glad they did because the Javelin lost the motor 3rd time on the water, they fixed it then I lost the motor agian about a week later. They told me they would put a new power head on the motor or let me buy a different one, so I bought a Triton. It's a 2000, looks like it was never in the water, and I got it for $14,000 with a 150 Johnson on it.
  3. I agree with RW I've been catching bass in 2 to 4 ft of water all summer long, buried in vegetation though it seems that I can catch them on the outer edge early in the day then as the day progresses they seem to bury deeper into the grass and into the thicker parts of the vegetation.
  4. I feel like that about 30 minutes after getting home from every fishing trip. Can't wait to get back on the water. I'm 39 and just got into bass fishing and bought my first good bass boat.
  5. My first boat was an 18 foot alumaweld bass boat kind of a modified v-hull, it beat the crap out of you in rough water. The boat I have now is a Triton TR-186 18' 6" it's the smoothest riding boat I've ever been in and takes rough water extremely well. I had a 17" 6' Javelin before that, the same design as the Stratos very fast boat but it did'nt take rough water that well, it was kind of squirrely. But it really boils down to what you intend to use the boat for. Are you going to fish tournaments on big lakes or are you just going to fish for fun and dinner?
  6. I've got a lake I fish in Northeastern OK, where that happens with nearly every fish you catch. I've had as many as 6 other bass follow a caught fish all the way to the boat.
  7. Here in Northeastern OK, I've been catching bass busting small shad right at daylight for about 30 minutes in the mouths of coves and on main lake points.
  8. Yeah , it's definately an FLW tube. I use them also, I couldn't find them on the website either. but every Wal-mart Iv'e been in carries them. Only problem is they only have about 4 colors. Good luck
  9. Fishin fool, You went to BPS and only spent $10 You've got more self control than I do LOL!!! Last time I went to BPS I was only planning on spending $50 ended up spending $150
  10. I know guys like that. They have brush piles all over the one lake that they fish all the time. And they are hard to beat on that lake, but when they go to other lakes, which isn't very often, I don't see their names on the leader board. I don't place brush piles and I try to fish a different lake every weekend I haven't started fishing tournaments yet. I haven't had time with the hours I've been working, but the overtime is going to slow down after this month so this fall I'm going to fish several tournaments.
  11. I've has bass do the same thing with a weightless plastic that I had been fishing with for a while. So I don't think it was the heat of the jig head. I think that was probably more of a reaction strike than one of hunger, or the bass was just trying to kill what it saw as an intruder.
  12. I'd have to say Ike! the man is so passionate about bass fishing and has tons of knowledge, plus he seems like he'd be a blast to fish with.
  13. bassguy, I used to fish an old strip pit like that, crystal clear and full of good fish. the only way I ever had any luck was to wear camo and sneak up on that pit and stay low in the grass, if the fish ever saw me it was over from that location. I also fished it right at dawn and dusk with good results. I wish they had flourocarbon back then. I've seen even small bass swim up to my line look at it and take off. Good luck and stay persistant!!
  14. Nebraska Mcdonalds or Burgerking????
  15. ESPN only wins if everyone follows. It's the viewers and tournament fishermen that will ultimately decide whether or not ESPN wins. I'm just getting into fishing tournaments I'm planning on fishing the BFL as a co-angler next year. I'm also planning on fishing as many local tournys as I can. I've looked into fishing the B.A.S.S. , but they only have one or two tournaments close to my home state. So for me the choice is simple fish the BFL.

  18. When your monthly budget revolves around your fishing expenditures!!
  19. JCbass, don't know which lake your fishing, but I fish several lakes here in northeastern OK. I've been catching bass anywhere from 2ft in the weeds to 25 ft in the rocks. I talked to Paul Greenwood, (Grennwoods fishing center) Skiatook lake. He said that most of the guys fishing the T.A.G. tournaments have been catching their biggest fish from 30 to 35' deep. I fished Skiatook from 7:00pm last night to 9:00am this morning. The surface temp ranged from 80deg to 85deg. We caught bass from the surface to 25' deep. nothing very big, about 1 1/2 lbs.
  20. I fished Skiatook lake this morning the wind was from the south at about 15 mph. We caught a few spotted bass that were breaking on shad up against a wind blown bank. We caught them on 3 different baits, top water popper, fluke , and chrome and blue rattle trap. to deal with the wind I came around from the north end of the point and faced my boat into the wind. Makes it a little easier to control the boat, also you can adjust the speed down low enough to stay fairly stationary.
  21. jcbass, Here are a few I have found by searching Oklahoma bass fishing clubs. (1) OBAA ( ok bass anglers association) (2) Sooner State Black Bass Anglers Association of OKC OK (3) Norman bassmasters Goodluck
