  1. I have to agree with everyone else. if you're looking for the best information on the bass species habits, forage or anything else that has to do with bass, you'll find it here. No need to look else where. Welcome and glad to have you aboard!!!
  2. Howdy!! and welcome aboard. This is a great place lots of info and a great bunch of people.
  3. I'd like to fish the big "O" or any of the Kissimee chain.
  4. jcbass, I've really been struggling with this one myself. I've been fishing shallow all year long and have been catching quite a few fish, only problem is they keep getting smaller the hotter it gets. So this past Sunday I went out to one of my favorite lakes, average depth is around 30 feet, I found some deep water secondary points right off the creek channel water at the bank was about 3ft and dropped off into 20ft lots of baitfish (shad). The wife and I caught 10 bass off one point all small about 14". So now I'm not sure what to try next I know this lake has some true hawgs in it so I guess I'm going to try some main lake points in 30 ft of water.
  5. I'm outta there at the first crack of lightning!!! I saw an article in Outdoor life magazine several years ago where a guy was struck by lightning. It hit his rod as he was making a cast and the only thing that saved his life was a couple other fishermen close by saw what happened and rushed to his aid. They said the storm was about 25 miles away.
  6. I use a lot of flukes as well, went out this afternoon The wife and I caught 10 bass went through 1 1/2 bags of watermelon red flukes, I'm using a 4/0 gammy wide gap hook and best I can figure, I get about 2 fish per fluke depending on the size of the fish the bigger ones tend to tear them up worse. But thats ok, they'll make more!! (flukes) that is. I also have the same problem with other brands of fluke like plastics and regular plastic worms, the only worms that I have found that are extremely tough are the ones made by Berkly GULP. Those things are very tough, I caught four good fish out of a pond earlier this year on one worm and it still wasn't torn up used it again the next trip.
  7. I did a search and found their website, it's basically an electronic fish call it plays a recording of distressed bait fish being fed on by predatory fish. I found them at Bass pro for $699.99 kinda pricey but i'd trade $699.99 for $200,000 If any one out there is using one please let us know if they work.
  8. Great interview. Keep em coming!!
  9. Are you refering to the oxygen injection systems or the recirculation pumps?
  10. Yeah, I know I've got to make myself go to the better fish if I'm going go have any chance at winning tournaments next year.
  11. I generally start with a spinnerbait or shallow running crank, If I catch a fish or two in short stretch, then I go back down that stretch with a soft plastic, plastic depends on water depth. If it's shallow I go with a weightless fluke or senko, if no takers I'll make one more pass with a brushhog, babybrushhog, or a craw. if the water is deeper than 4ft I'll weigh down my plastics Those are the baits I fish the most and have the most confidence in. If I'm catching fish I don't change up too much more than that. If I start changing lures I spend more time changing than fishing and usually catch less fish.
  12. I'm from Catoosa Ok just east of Tulsa.
  13. I'm catching fish, they're just small, 12" to 16" can't seem to get the bigger ones to hit, but I think I've been fishing the wrong cover, been fishing shallow weeds and as long as I'm catching some fish( even though they are small) I'm having a hard time making myself fish other water.
  14. I like a weightless fluke or senko, or baby brushhog with an 1/8 oz weight. This weekend I'm going to try the new boohya swimming jig in the weeds.
  15. Thats a great idea, I never thought about using my cell phone voice memo to record my days events. I always write it down until now. Thanks for the great idea.
  16. Thanks for the replies, I think I'm going to err on the side of caution and take it to a mechanic. The boats not super fast, it tops out at 65mph. I'd hate to have something happen as I was running down the lake. I use to go to the drag boat races and I've seen some pretty wild things happen when they have problems on the water. Daren
  17. man, they're opening up everywhere!! We've got one in Broken Arrow Ok that's suppose to open in October this year. Can't wait, I'll probably have to get a second job just to pay my BPS bill.
  18. What a woman!!!!! I've got myself one in a billion also. Buys me fishing and hunting gear all the time.
  19. Ben, Do you use something behind the skeg when you hit it with the hamer? my skeg is bent about a 1/2" Sam, Theres not any cracks around the mount and I didn't hit it hard, I ran it for the rest of the day and I kept checking it throughout the day Gambler, I've heard about those. Never have known anyone who used one though. I've got a buddy that is a welder and is awsome on aluminum, he's welded several aluminum boats. He did another buddy of mine's boat, had to completely reweld the transom Thanks for all the replies and keep them coming, I may try to bend it back in shape tomorrow, after I call a couple dealers to see what they have to say. 20. I did a search on this sight and I could'nt find anything on this subject. So here's my question. I bent the skeg on my outboard, I lowered my motor too far when I was taking it off the trailer, and bent the skeg on the ramp. :-[ Question: what is the safest way to straighten the skeg, I'm afraid of breaking it so I have'nt touched it yet. The only problem it caused is that now my boat pulls to the left just a little but I'd still like to fix it. Thanks for any and all input!!
  21. I fished Skiatook lake in Norhteastern Ok yesterday afternoon, hit the water at 1pm and fished until 5pm had to work till 10am or i'd have been there at daylight. Anyway, I had 3 keepers in the boat by 2pm visibility in the area I was fishing was about 5ft and I was dragging a split shot rigged fluke (watermelon seed) around a weedline and laydowns in about 3-31/2 ft of water, surface temp in the mid 80's. I was making long casts parallel to the weeds so I didn't see any of the fish before they hit.
  22. I had a rod jerked out of my hands a few years ago and if it hadn't been for my alert buddy, it would still be on the bottom of Skiatook lake. He had just reeled his line in and had a crankbait on when I lost my rod, he was able to snag the line with his crankbait, lost the fish but kept the rod LOL
  23. I only carry 3 rods to the lake, if I take more I find that I spend more time switching between rods than fishing. I usually have a fluke tied to one a spinnerbait to another and on the last one either a crankbait or topwater or c-rig just depends on what they've been hitting lately.
  24. Try throwing a frog or other weedless top water across the moss, when you reel it in keep up a fairly steady pace so that the fish can zero in on it through the moss
  25. Here in Northeastern OK, I fish a couple small city lakes, they charge $2 daily fishing fee and $2 boat launch fee. I don't mind paying cause all the money goes into the facilities, ramp etc. Even on our Corps of Engineer lakes you pay $3 daily ramp fee. And if you use the swim beach at any of the corp lakes you pay $3. All that goes back into the lake facilities and pays for the attendants salaries.
