  1. well for 100 you can get the revo s which is a very good reel but i would reccomend the quantum catalyst.. a very solid reel for only 150.. i have 2 and love them both
  2. i kinda know what your saying... i also like my rods to match somewhat... like my quantum energys looks pretty good on my carrott siks.. its nice to look at all day long lol.. but thats a good and a bad thing because you spend more time looking at the setup then at the line haha ;D
  3. its struck the tidewater region too.. i think for good reason too.. they are just simply a awesome rod!
  4. Energy and catalyst are both great reels in my mind.. all i use is quantum and they haven;t let me down so far
  5. When fishing heavy cover i always peg. allows me to penetrate without resistence.. i use rubber strips or screw loks
  6. its all about conditions but i think amber is best all around.. i fish oakley but solar bat is also a good brand
  7. hmm... well i would fish a jig or a t-rigged chigger craw up there this time of the year.. you just got to catch that one 6-7 lb kicker fish to win
  8. Yum money minnow and swimsenko for me
  9. ill second the beavers.. but i also like a Rage Craw from strike king.. the innovative paddles push alot of water and catch a lot of fish
  10. as far as how far up to attach the swivel... i guess it all depends on the situation but i normally like 8-12 inches.. and also i use B.A.N.G on all my soft plastics.. works like a charm
  11. yea i kno what you guys mean... it can be pretty frustrating in super cold water but u can catch em.. you just have to be deliberate and slow and the fish will follow
  12. just like catt said they will probably slip back down toward the creek channel but dont be afraid to try up shallow.. i guess it depends but thee fish could follow the fluctuating water level and stay relatively shallow if the water stays in the 60's.. its all about trying different things if ya wanna win that one
  13. just like the rest of these guys said.. drop the tip.. pick up slack.. and cross his eyes
  14. i agree with robby... just talk to your partner and see what he thinks first but if he doesn't restrict you then 5 would be a good number. Should cover several situations without being overly crowding
  15. Interesting write up hawgchasher...its nice to hear that quantum stood up to the test.. i have 2 of last years models and couldn't be happier with them.. anyways hope you get to test that drag out soon on some monsters.
  16. ill go with what mitch said.. the 100 series could be ok but if u want a good reel with some longevity then you need to save up a few dollars and but a 500 series reel.. well worth the money in my opinion
  17. i drag mine most of the time but sometimes ill pick it up and drop it because i mostly rig a fluke and it creates a nice darting action along the bottom.. it can be pretty deadly if the conditions are right
  18. haha yea man ill be fishing a tournament in this span of rain were gonna have.. but if the water goes muddy and the temps stay in the high 60's low 70's you just might be able to catch up real shallow on anything moving and loud( coffin lipped shallow cranks, COLORADO spinner bait). If that doesn't work try fishing a jig and pig up shallow around boat docks and shallow stumps etc. You oughta be able to catch em there if no one else.
  19. its either a spinnerbait on the windy points or grinding a a crank or trap on flats or also windy points.. the fish will tell you which one works
  20. i personally like to fish mine on a mh spinning Carrott with 10 pound IZORLINE xxx and a swivel on a 3/0 wide gap hook... The swivel gives it a bit of weight and allows it to sink a bit faster.. it eliminates line twist considerably and gives a nice side- to- side dating action
  21. thanks guys i appreciate the insight into the business part of fishing.. i actually did end up getting a sponsorship.. as u can see below. but i think these posts can help make me a better angler and business man at the same time haha
  22. I haven't tried the p-line CXX but i stick with what works and thats IZORLINE XXX anywhere from 15-30 lbs.. depends on the weight of the swimbaits tho
  23. i appreciate it guys... there are so many daiwas to choose from! im torn between the zillion and the pixy :'(
  24. i dont do a whole lot of drop shotting here in the south but when i do happen to pick it up i use 8lb p-line floroclear... seems like i get bit pretty well doing that
