  1. i personally like a 6 ft because i like a shorter rod because i feel like i have better control and i like to keep my rod tip low to the water when working spooks and pop-r's.. i wouldn't imagine the tip would be to stiff either
  2. yea i was just looking at both on line.. im thinking about the zillion as my first chice.. they look like a great reel... $279 if im not mistaken right?
  3. ok so im a loyal quantum fan but here lately i have heard so much on this forum about the daiwas... seems like you guys all love these things and im looking to invest in one and maybe ill like it enough to switch over to an all-daiwa line-up... so whats the best daiwa reel i can get for under $300?.. any suggestions would be great
  4. i personally can't give to much insight into the powell lineup but i can telll you that carrot stix are an awesome rod for the price. I have 6 of them and i have only two things to say.. VERY LIGHT! and very sensitive.. plus i personally love the grips and handle... its a great rod in my eyes...
  5. i appreciate it guys... a little tough advicebut its all good... ill just have to step up my game a little bit haha ;D
  6. i use a 7'6H carrot stik for my froggin... does me just fine ... its got plenty enough power to haul em out of grass and mats
  7. sounds like you got it pretty close to me lol
  8. a sensitive rod is almost a must for worm/ jig and finesse applications . I also like it for cranking when you really need to find out whats down there.. all i use is carrot stiks and shimano
  9. i just used trial and error... first reel was a a shimano and i just didn't like it.. then i bought a citica hoping for a better experience but i was disappointed yet again. So i went out and bought a quantum accurist and was happier than ever with it.. its been quantum ever since...
  10. definitely go with the shimano
  11. man i have 6 of the carrots and absolutely love em! they are sensitive and lighter than u could ever imagine... and the handle is excellint.. fits my hands perfectly! i would recommend these things to anyone who wants a great rod at a great price!
  12. i agree with farmer on this one... i personally like a shorter rod for skipping docks.. i use a 6' med (fast) Shimano Compre which has enough tip but still has enough back bone to drive the hook home..i normally use 8lb P-Line but for heavy cover situations i like 20lb braid if i can get away with it
  13. i personally use a quantum catalyst with 17 pound fluro but the revo's are pretty good as well with the winch of a drag system they have... also the new ardent F500 is a good choice if its solely for flippin
  14. for 150 and under i would either go with the Quantum catalyst or the revo s... both are very good reels for the money
  15. Id have to say Mike McClelland.. The man is a guru with a jig in his hands! ;D But u gotta respect KVD for everything he has accomplished too.. last but certainly not least would have to be Derek Remitz.. the kid is a dam good fisherman to come out in his rookie year on the elites and school the big dogs dragging a football jig on Amistad.. and just to show he wasn't a fluke he scored i think 2nd in the very next elite series stop.. Mad props to Derek Remitz
  16. Well i particularly dont feel the "NEED for sponsors" but i feel having a few would help me pursue a career in professional Bass fishing. When you fish as much as as many of us younger generation anglers do, you really want someone to recognize what you have accomplished. I personally feel that sponsors could help jumpstart a young, up-and-coming pro like myself. Free product really isn't an incentive to me. That will more than likely come with time. Its the fact that you want your self confidence boosted when your at a tournament and you want people to know that your a well accomplished fisherman avidly seeking a career in Bass fishing. Thats my personal opinion.
  17. Ok so i have been fishing for quite some time now and placed well in several local tournaments. Im only 16 but i really want to pursure a career in professional Bass fishing possibly during and hopefully after college. As i said i have performed well in several small scale tournaments but i cant seem to attract the attention of local companies and pro shops despite my performance. You guys have any tips or suggestions that could point me in the right direction? Thanks, Chaz Carrington
  18. a buddy of mine has the 7'6 H and i liked it for swimbaits... long enough for casting and strong enough to get em in.. and feather light! makes a long day chunking lures a little easier on the wrist
  19. as far as drop shotting goes i personally wouldnt go with excel.. it is a little tough to manage.. i like izorline but thats just me
  20. ah i missed out! i wanted a few more of those things :-/
  21. i like a shimano compre 7' m for my shakey. im not real sure for dropshotting solely because i dont do a whole lot on the home lake.. to much timber
  22. i personally use floroclear for must applications.. except for topwaters and normal cranking(i like the cushion of mono).. o and dont buy vanish! its horrible
  23. i dont kno about loomis but i like a 7' xh carrot stik for solely flippin.. its a brute haha
  24. i love my carrot stik... and i personally like the bright orange color.. gives it a unique quality haha.. but i would go with the mh for t-rigs and jigs.. i just bought me a 7' xh for froggin.. i cant wait to try it out
