braid line question....
Mainstream brands that are most popular on this board: - Fireline - Suffix - PowerPro New to the braid party, and pricey: Daiwa Samurai braid Everyone's preferences are different; of the mainstream I like Fireline the best and think it casts the smoothest; others swear by PowerPro. I have not used Samurai. You'll have to try them over time and gain experience on all of them before figuring out what is "best" for you.

Is everyone on this board a senko freak?
I love fishing them a long with any other weightless plastic, but I prefer plastic fishing to crank/spinnerbait fishing personally.

FC leader breaks off at hookset
The Uni to Uni is sensitive to having the same line diameter, but the Alberto isn't. I have broken the Uni to Uni, but never the Alberto; with the Alberto, the knot at the hook breaks first. There's no need to switch to Yo Zuri; switch to the Alberto knot, but I would retie at the hook after a few fish as the hook knot will weaken from hooksets, teeth and/or nicks above it. I would use a heavier diameter fluoro as your leader, though, if the only reason is matching line diameter. I would use 6lbs, only if the water was crystal clear and the bite was tough. Any good fluoro you have will work.

My Curoado 50 E arrived today
Why? They're identical reels. There are minor differences, but one is aluminum, one is magnesium. Why not? Without seeing them side by side how would I have known they are identical? By looking at the frames? I am referring to your assumption that somehow I should know they are identical. Pretty d**n obvious. Riiiiiiigggghhhhtttttt.... :

He's 12. It's going to take him some time to become as knowledgeable as most on this forum. Be patient with him; think back to what your thought process was like when you were 12.

How To: Fish A Craw
There are many baits/presentations we don't understand why they are effective but they are. If using a craw on a drop shot produces, that's enough for me.

It looks nice but I hope they change the color of that line soon. One thing for sure, that reel is going to be a big hit for a long time.

FLW vs Bassmaster Elite for the postseason World Series
Please explain to me how statistics from when they competed head to head in the same tournament is different than you saying they need to be on the water? They were on the water together. Of course "on any given Sunday", the worst team or individual can defeat the best team but does that mean they are really the best? Of course not; once again you fall back on the single data point. That is not the indicator to determine who is better overall. You put those anglers (or any sports team) together in a best of 5/7/10 competition series and invariably the better team will win out. I know you know this so I'm not sure why you would want to debate semantically on single-point in time valuation. Skeet Reese didn't win every single tournament; he lost to guys that aren't even in the top 25. Does that mean they are better than him? To be better than someone you don't have to beat them every time, just more often than they beat you. But again, I'm not telling you something you don't already know.

FLW vs Bassmaster Elite for the postseason World Series
The only real way to compare is to put them on the water Um, isn't that what comparing the results for when they competed in the same tournaments means? :

Russ Lane wins first post season event on Jordan
If nothing else, he should have been given a far greater lead over the rest of the field; he's getting screwed if an entire season of dominance can be made up by one tourney with a mere 9 place differencial. A travesty if he loses it this year, and I too am not a big Skeet guy.

FLW vs Bassmaster Elite for the postseason World Series
A single data point proves nothing. To counter, I'll submit last years Forrest Wood cup (FLW's version of the Classic) - first and second place was won by BASS Elite's Hackney and Iaconelli. The only real way to compare is to analyze the stats for tournaments that held both sides' anglers in them to see who finished where.

Not if he confessed to it. It looks like they are going to need an x-ray machine at every weigh in soon.

best braid
Braid Wars? TJHfishin - sounds like you bought 2 braids, so try them out and see if you can tell a difference between them. If so, try others whenever you can. Only you will be able to say what's the best braid for you as it's purely preference.

Looking to pick up a few rods need advise avid or loomis
The St. Croix MHF are *very* stiff; equal to others HF. I wouldn't recommend it for senkos but for heavier bottom lures/spinnerbaits (.5oz+). That Legend Elite is a great deal and I would get it for your worm/jig rod. I have the Avid 70MM, 70MF and 70MHF. I have used the 70MM extensively for senkos and weightless plastics and have had no problems with hooksets. It helps that I'm a braid guy and I've fished plastics with even noodlier rods. However I think the 70MF is the ideal all around rod - you can fish senkos and any other plastics, and it makes a great large/deep crankbait rod (cranks that would overpower the 70MM). Personally I'd go cheaper than the 70MM for cranks - get a Triumph or other decent rod. Then with the money you save, use that for the Legend Elite that RW linked.

Need Help deciding reel rod line combo
To the OP - ping Raul on this reel - he has said it's a far better reel than the price would indicate. He has many high end reels in his quiver so his perspective would be valuable. You can distinguish by different lines or have them on different rods. Failing that, put a sticker or something on 1.
