  1. Thats awesome! I remember taking my 2002 and 2003 catalogs to school and looking at them in class instead of my history and science text books
  2. What is your favorite Search Bait for post spawn fish?
  3. I am pretty new to all of these except the Spinnerbait. I view these similarly but honestly have no idea when each excel. Maybe its wrong to view them similar, I dont really know. I would always throw the spinnerbait when they are chasing baitfish. Would like to expand my horizons. I have know a spinnerbait works well with wind, but when would a fishhead swim and swim jig work better? Is this too broad of a question? Would a swim bait work in similar situations??
  4. I feel like my biggest issue is trying to change rod length when pitching. Like going from a 7'3" rod to a 6'9" or opposite. BUt I feel like a few attempts in and im back to the hang of things. BUt those first few can be brutal
  5. I tend to go to 1/4 as the lowest with 3/8 as the highest when texas rigging on a MH baitcast rod. I tend to feel that the higher weight suggestion is the more important one as if you have too much weight there is a chance it could snap the rod on a cast. It you can cast a lighter weight on it, go for it. Like Scarborourgh said, the plastic and hook have a weight as well, and sometimes that plastic can be quite heavy.

I really like the Punisher jigs. They dont have a big weedguard like a regular jig but they work pretty well. I have recently started to customize them with a small living rubber skirt thats pulled tight to flare out. With a little beaver style trailer trimmed down on the sides, it looks very realistic in the water. love it
  7. I use a 7' MH mojo Bass. Its a pretty strong rod. I really feel like I can horse them out of the cover. Its a rod I am very happy with. Its a bit tip heavy, but since I am keeping the rod tip down its not a really huge downside
  8. Me too! Bryan Thrift had a post on facebook showing the stickbait he was using. And Jay Yelas said he was throwing the senko as well!
  9. I have 2 of the original Veritas 7' MHs. Love them. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine
  10. I am going to Orlando, Florida this summer with my girlfriend. Going to Disney and take a day at the beach. We were really interested in going fishing, but would it be better to hire a guide and go out a few hours with him or should we rent a boat and bring stuff with us? Any ideas?
  11. I was fishing Kentucky Lake last year and saw a pro during the Elite series event throwing a big spoon and ripping it and letting it flutter back down before ripping it again. He was ripping it as hard as he was setting the hook. It was insane to me. I had a big old spoon and tried it myself and was just a little concerned my tackle was a bit too light. What line and rod and gear ratio of the reel would you all use? Thanks All
  12. Fatter worm, Strike King has the Bull Worm, but if you are looking for a skinny more trickworm like bait go for the Netbait Super T-Mac.
  13. thank you, everyone
  14. I got a few of the Buckeye Su-Spin Blades at the Bass Pro Spring classic and didnt think about a trailer. I have some of the paddle tail swimbaits but im not sure if they will interfere with the blade. Anyone have any trailers they like to throw on baits like that? Thanks!
  15. I have looked at the Titanium 8 Rod at Bass Pro. They are light, thats for sure. I am curious as to why Edwin Evers used the CarbonLite rod over the Titanium8 rod. Maybe there is more variety. I dont know. But All of the Bass Pro rods I have ever used I have loved. They make nice quality rods!
  16. I think Im going 30 size and probably a 6' medium rod. Easier for her to store.
  17. Does your Bass Pro have a discount rod rack? They are remodeling all their rods and Ive seen a lot of their rods discounted. I have an old Bionic blade I would suggest. Love those rods for the price
  18. YOu think a light? I was thinking medium...
  19. Went fishing with my girlfriend for a first time a few weekends ago and we caught quite a few fish. She was using an old Ugly Stick and shakespear reel. Not a very good combo. She mentioned she wanted me to help her go pick out a new rod and reel. Her birthday is this weekend so I got her a little soft tacklebox that I am going to put some stuff in like a starter kit. I'd like to stick the reel in there too. Im pretty set on the Pflueger ladies President reel, just dont know the size I should get. I plan on putting 1/8 and 3/16 oz weights and some lizards and baby brush hogs in the box with some hooks. She doesnt fish tournaments or anything, but really only fishes for bass and I may take her to fish for some crappie this spring. WHat do you all think on the size? Any suggestions?
  20. I just scored some pretty good deals on 2 spinning rods and now need to get some reels to pair with the rods. Any suggestions of reels? I am looking at the Revo SX or possibly the STX... Any other suggestions of reels I should check out?
  21. I feel like they are trying to weed out all of the other brands and have mostly Bass Pro rods. Its interesting they have Lews now though.
  22. I have 2 of the Revo S reels and have had no issues with them. I have both paired with the Abu Veritas rods
  23. Anyone tried out the Ike series rods yet? I like the 2 Veritas I have, but dislike the Vendettas. Not sure why, the Vendettas just feel a little dead in my hands. Would love to hear from anyone who has used the Ikes
  24. I have 2 Revo S's and I love them. I personally put half the brakes on and off, then I use the cast control knob to do the fine tuning. It has worked well for me over the past 2-4 seasons I have used them. I cast and pitch with them. I mean, yeah an STX would be an upgrade, but I havent found anything wrong with the Revo S and I would suggest it using it. I personally prefer the centrifugal breaks over the magnetic, but its what I am use too. Good luck! Happy Holidays, and welcome!
