Now that's what I'm talking about someone who does as much research as me First off I can't stand those little trash catchers called TM footpedal recess; really every thing in the world will end up in there. Compare the Triton X2 hull vs the XP hull; I've driven both and all I can say is buy a good rain suit cause you gonna get wet in rough water; they both chine walk something I will not put up with. I have a friend who just traded a Legend LE-21on an Alpha 21; both are outstanding in rough water and both have massive front decks. Both boats had Yamaha's 300 HP V MAX Series 2 on the back which I would choose over anything black. I've considered the LE-186 & LE-195 both are in the same class as Skeeter. For the money you will be spending I would highly recommend you give Skeeter a close look.

Black bass are good on dark soft plastic worms, spinner baits, and crank baits around reed beds and near the dam. Striped bass are slow. Redfish are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, and cheese bait near the railroad trestle and 181 Cove. Yellow catfish are slow.

Dude I'm fishing many of the same spots on every body of water that I've fished for 35-40 years; if an area has everything necessary to support a population of bass it rarely just disappears.

Loyal: faithful to a cause, ideal, custom, institution, or product I like Gene Larew products but my loyalty is in Texas Rigged Plastic; my confidence is in my abilities to locate bass, once located I will catch em.

The only brand I'm loyal to is Redneck Bubba Bass Fishing; I can catch bass with any reel, any rod, any line, any hook, or any bait. When I spend my money I buy what I like but that doesn't make me brand loyal it means I compared features, prices, reliability, and made an educated decision.

Be on the water as often as possible and not when the weather is perfect but in every imaginable condition. Learn to read a depth finder, learn to read a Topo Map, learn to read baitfish and learn to read a bass.

Here's some food for thought Toledo Bend is 75 miles long; logical wisdom would lead one to think the south end would have spawning bass first because it's only 100 miles from the Gulf of Mexico while the north end is 75 miles farther north. The reality is the north end spawns first, how can this be? Answer: The north end of the lake is mostly shallow flats with the only deep water being river and creek channels; the water is also a lot murkier which retains heat better than clear water. This end of the lake is protected from north winds but is subjected to more direct sunlight. The south end is comprised of hilly country with numerous deep ravines, creek channels, and the river channel. The water is very clear which retains little heat; its also more open subjected to north winds. The bass up north will start spawning in early to mid-February while the bass down south will spawn as late as mid-April.
