What are you tossing in a pond "too small to hold fish?"
Ultravibe Speed Worm or Ultravibe Speed Craw is extremely deadly when reeled on are near the surface. 3/0 offset round bend hook (or hook of your choice), 1/8 tungsten bullet weight unpegged. Cast at every piece of visible cover. Ask @Mike L ?

How to find success on spinnerbaits
@Munkin When I started bass fishing spinnerbaits were my first love. CATT orginally stood for Cajun Anglers Tournament Tackle, I built spinnerbaits & crankbaits for a few tournament anglers. With spinnerbaits I bent my own wires, built my own shirts, poured my own lead, & used round bend hooks. I played around with wire diameters, short arms, long arms, double arms, R-Bend, & twisted eye. I stopped making spinnerbaits when I meet Lonnie Stanley. We ain't even mentioned Ribbits or double take frog hooks. John Hale worked for Lonnie Stanley & was the inventor of the Hale Craw Worm. The Hale brothers now own Stanley Jigs. Mark Stevenson caught Ethel of Bass Pro Shop fame (ShareLunker 001) on a Stanley jig with a Hale Craw worm. There's a 10 fish stringer that's right at 100# caught by John at the Sportsman Cafe on Toledo Bend.

How to find success on spinnerbaits
Stanley's Wedge Blades give off more flash & vibration than any blade made. The front of the blade has a thickness of .015 & increases to .030 to the back of the blade. Patented Tapered Wire, the Vibra-Shaft is unmatched in water displacement. Moving more water with less effort makes a great spinnerbait. Tapered wire transfers all the vibration to the tip of the wire, where the blades are. Stanley spinnerbaits & jigs were first to use silicone shirt & multi colored shirts. Lonnie Stanley worked with Mustad to come up with a true needle point hook.

How to find success on spinnerbaits
As much as I love throwing spinnerbaits some days they just don't want it. Y'all covered grass but for me it's spinnerbaits & wood/brush. I'll pitch a spinnerbait like y'all would a jig. May only get 3-5 turns of the handle. Sometimes it's helicopter it down on the side of wood/brush. I throw Stanley but Booyah's Covert is catching on. But a Hildebrand blade to a nobrainer!

Lew's rods worth the money?
I know you asked about Lew's & not the Tatula. I have a Diawia Tatula TTU711MHXB, 7'1" Medium Heavy X-Fast. This is my choice in a jig rod. I also have a Tatula TTU731MHFB, 7'3" Medium Heavy Fast. I just have fun with this rod throwing everything from frogs to light punching.

Lew's rods worth the money?
I have a TP1B74H 7'4" Heavy Fast, I use it for punching & frogging. I have 2 TP1B70MH 7' Medium Heavy Fast. My grandson uses one for Worms & my youngest son uses the other for jigs.

Fishing in the rain?
We get those afternoon thunder boomers, ya don't want to get caught in one. I usually launch after it's blown through. After a hot, humid, still day it will fire em up.
