Anybody down in South FLA fishing tomorrow?
I've still seen and caught them recently in my lake system. The lake I was on today had none at all that I saw. Very healthy LM population though. There were fingerlings everywhere. Makes you wonder how much the Peacocks really damage the LM populations in certain lakes.

How do you rig a Yamamoto "Kreatrure"?
From RW. Yes, this does work. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581 Fish it just like he says in that thread. I've pegged a small weight to them before. Something small like an 1/8oz or 1/4oz tungsten bullet weight depending on the depth you're working at. They do have some lift when rigged backwards I've found. It helps to keep it at the depth you want a little better. As far as an attractant goes, if you're working through weeds, it's hard to beat Megastrike just to make the bait a little slicker. The odor and holding power of that stuff is a bonus.

Anybody down in South FLA fishing tomorrow?
Hey Pinesangler, theres a bridge on that lake right on 178th that could well be a gold mine. There we fish stacked up there earlier today. Tons of boulders and all were used to build up the road there. Nice little patch of grass on the outside of the cut under the bridge. Pulled in seven or eight fish off that spot in about half an hour before I had to call it a day. Most of them were in the 2 to 3 pound range. We saw several larger fish that weren't at all interested in what we had to offer. My father was using a 5" pearl with gold and black flake senko, and I had a swimmin senko in watermelon with the tail dipped in chart JJ's. Great success with both. Drop shot with a minnow shaped lure had some success also.

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! PB for me!!!!
I really need to call Quiet Waters and other parks like Markham to see if they'll let me launch my jon at them as well. Hell, I'll pay the rental fee if I can use my boat. I'm game for doing something one weekend though.

Anybody down in South FLA fishing tomorrow?
Thats the main area that I'm concentration on tomorrow. I'll fish the entire side on the bottom of the picture that runs along 9th. work the banks up to and around that little island. Hopefully I'll find some boulders or something on the electronics in the area as well. The hardest part I'm having is deciding what to bring. I've got no clue what the depth or anything is in this lake. Let me know a day that you're available and we can try to get together around here with the boat. Just be ready to help haul it out the back of the truck . I use it primarily in my lake so I don't have any use for a trailer. This is the first time I'm taking it out in a lake other than my own. I'm bringing a spare battery just to be on the safe side.

Theres a Boaters Park off of 178th and 9th. Big lake. Lots of trees and stumps that are poking out of the water. Some nice large flats off the bank before the drop offs. When I was there looking around on Sunday I spotted a decent Gar, and about a 20 pound Carp of some kind. So I guess I'll see what happens.

I know it's a broken record but, line suggestions please.
Yo-Zuri Hybrid I use 8# on mine, lots of other people use 6. I've never tried the ultrasoft that RW recommends, thats going on my next spool. It's supposedly designed around spinning gear. You can get a 600 yd spool for like 12-13 bucks at BPS. Good stuff.

Hopefully I'm heading out for a few hours in the morning to a sweet looking lake out in Silver Lakes that I found that has a launch ramp for electric only boats. Any of you guys have any recommendations on what you would throw after all of the rain and wind we've had the last couple of days?

CHEAPEST Reel you've been impressed with?
As far as casting reels, see sig. I fish almost daily and my PQ's are still like the day I got them. Only thing I've done is regular maintenance on them. Cheap to you may be different from another person, just remember that. There are people on here that have some ridiculous gear that consider anything less cheap.

Fluoro questions
So my old man was at BPS and decided to grab me a spool of fluoro since I've been thinking about using it. I'm a mono/hybrid kind of person. It's cheap, easy to use, etc etc. He got a 250 yd spool of 8lb Vicious. I've heard some good, and some bad about this line. The rod I'd use it on currently has 10lb Suffix on it. The rod recommends minimum of 10 lbs. Should I just try this stuff out as leader material or what. I've never spooled a reel with fluro before mainly because of the cost. I only use two casting rods, so I change lures/hooks/weight frequently and tend to use line quickly. I was thinking just to use a short length as leader material just for the benefits of being less abrasive. What do you guys think? I've heard conflicting opinions on the whole visibility thing with fluro vs mono vs stuff like yo-zuri. I really do like using yo-zuri though, especially at the price of it.

Any reports On the Carbonlite REEL Yet?
I've got no complaints with mine. Very similar to the pro qualifier in terms of performance. Matches up nicely with the carbonlite casting rods. I definitely like the eva foam grips it has though.

Anybody down in South FLA fishing tomorrow?
By the way, I hate rain. I don't mind fishing in it, but I haven't installed the bilge pump into my Jon, so yeah... Got a brief moment of clear skies long enough to go out and catch a couple of fish on a dropshot in about 25' of water. One of them was ridiculously fat though. Good to see some very healthy fish in the lake.

breakfast at lox
Heck of a fish right there. 25 fish in four hours sounds like a recipe for a good time.

New World record Caught Friday from Rayburn/Not a Bass
I would assume a line class world record, Koop. Not the all tackle record.

Why I don't like messing with electrical stuff.
Wow, you're having a hell of a time with the new trailer for the boat. Hope you get it all sorted out eventually. Good thing you had a buddy following you. I'm not sure how the cops are in your area, but down here they can get downright ridiculous about trailer lights being out.

Florida Here
Welcome! Lots of great info here. Always nice to see some other Florida people around here.

What to spray on plastics???
You don't really need to soak JJ's. It's not a spray. You just dip however much of the lure you want into it and it permanently dyes/scents the bait. So you could dip a whole bag and put them back in the original packaging and they'd stay that way...well for a long time. It is some seriously potent stuff. JJ's and megastrike are two different beasts though. JJ's is garlic, lots of garlic along with a colored dye of your choice. Megastrike is some amino acid based attractant that you kind of slime over the lure (think toothpaste). It's good for like half an hour or something in the water Bobby says. If you're working the bait in thick grasses and stuff it comes off a little quicker. One tube of that stuff will last you for quite a while though. You only need to use a tiny bit of it to thoroughly cover a bait. Both of them are great products and will have a place in my tackle bags for years to come.

Skinny Dippers in South Florida
Ok, I'm sick of hearing about these things from the South Florida guys. It's time I bought some and gave them a whirl. Are you local guys picking them up in stores down here, or just ordering them online? Which colors have been your most productive down here as well.

Anybody down in South FLA fishing tomorrow?
I've gotta stop making runs to BPS. I'm WAY over my budget that I wanted to spend this year. Four new rods, two new reels, silly amounts of tackle, boat, etc etc.... What I really want to get going is some nasty topwater peacock bites. Hopefully tomorrow morning...

What to spray on plastics???
x2 Great products. That BANG spray on scent that somebody else mentioned coats baits with a serious garlic odor...until they touch water when it all rinses off....

Anybody down in South FLA fishing tomorrow?
Really happy to hear about the Peacock bite man. I haven't even seen one since that cold came through. I been meaning to try out this park again between Miramar and Pembroke Rd. on 178th where I've caught a fair share of 3-4# Peacocks from but you can't park there without the harassing and have to park near the baseball fields near Silver Lakes Elementary and then a not very pleasant walk if your carrying a big tackle box and more than one rod. If thats the park I'm thinking of, I may be heading over there in a little while with the kids and my father. I think it's called Island park or something like that.

Anybody down in South FLA fishing tomorrow?
I had a decent hour or two out this afternoon after the rains rolled through. Had a solid peacock bite happening. XCalibur Jerkbait. Forgot the name of the color, but it resembles a golden shiner. Picked up six of them up to about two pounds and some change. No Largemouth hit that thing. Did pick up a couple of decent largemouth on a watermelon w/black flake swimming senko though. God knows I want to wake up early to try and catch that early bite, but I don't know about that. It's already after 1 am....

Burning frogs

10 ft jon boat conversion
Contrary to what Bass-Brat says, you do not need a boat with a 48" or larger bottom. You can do just fine with a 36" wide. The 32's are a little sketchy. Now, obviously the wider the better, but to say you "need" the larger size is a little silly. I've got a 36" that I use on my small lake and have absolutely no problems at all standing in the boat. You've just got to have common sense with the stuff you add onto it. The smartest thing you can do is to be safe with the size watercraft you have. If you think you MUST have that decked out to the top of the gunwale Jon, then you better get the widest possible. But to add a floor down on the bottom of a 32/36 to make it a bit more comfortable is no problem at all. Just remember that it's a Jon boat, not a full sized bass boat. Check out tinboats.net and look at the projects that have been done before. You'll get a ridiculous amount of ideas from the forums there.
