What's the "funniest" thing you have seen at a boat launch!
I've seen some crazy stuff down here on opening weekend for Lobster season in years past. Newer boat owners flipping trailers after rolling one set of wheels onto the dock and not realizing it. I've seen several cars underwater when they lost traction backing into the ramp. One of the strangest I've seen is a guy lowering his engine into the water and having it fall off the transom. The guy looked at me and just couldn't believe what happened. Can't blame him I guess....

Orange Dr, Davie
When the water is moving that canal is supposedly ridiculously good for snook and tarpon.

TM Wiring.
Out of curiosity, how good are those plugs? I swear I remember somewhere that those things are notorious for having power loss with using them. Be better off just running wires directly to the battery?
-
TM Wiring.
Yeah it's foot controlled. I was just looking at it and realized how easy of a connection that is. Problem solved. I'll probably use 6 or 8 awg wire for it. The battery is at the rear of my 12' jon.

TM Wiring.
So I picked up a trolling motor off of craigslist for a steal. Only catch is that the power cable was cut. 12v. Two wire (red/black). To attach a plug to the end for a receptacle, is it just a matter of adding the length of wire I need and connecting to the plug? I would imagine so, just want to make sure before hand. I've never used one of the plugs and was curious.

electronics - best time to buy?
Take the reviews on BPS with a grain of salt. Almost every trolling motor on the site is horrible according to the reviews. The X135 was a good deal at the time. On the whole now, right now isn't a bad time to buy. Mostly everything is cheap because of the economy. That being said, I'm always willing to wait on a sale if I'm upgrading. If you don't have any electronics I'd say go ahead and pick something up. Just go to the store and play around with it first. Luckily BPS' return policy is fairly decent. If you don't like it, you can usually bring it back.

Do yourself a favor. Don't buy that Garmin. I used one for about half an hour before I took it back. It has a serious problem in shallower water where the screen will just go berserk and lock the unit up.

Fish Finder not spotting fish
You don't need a super expensive sounder to do that. A couple hundred bucks is it. You've got to have the tuned properly to catch the lure, and you also need to be inside the cone of the transducer. A lot of times that means vertical or mostly vertical drops. Lowrance/Eagle and Humminbird makes this fairly easy with the real time sonar ping windows. I can easily pick up a 3/8 oz sinker and a 4" finesse worm and see both clearly on mine. Like somebody else mentioned, it is pretty cool watching your lure on the screen and seeing a fish chase after it and having your rod bow over.

favorite fishing show
I couldn't agree with you more. Still love watching it, but his Florida shows are just much much better to watch.

Fishing a 10" worm?
Don't matter the size of the worm. The only thing you may need to adjust is the hook size. Otherwise, it's texas rigged and fished the exact same way.

Rage Tail Tuesday
You guys hiring? You can pay me in soft plastics....

What would you be willing to do to catch a state record bass?
You sir, definitely win.

Rage Tail Tuesday
I think the only things missing from my rage collection right now are the small anaconda (I think the thumper?), and the lobster. Had some good strikes on the anaconda a few days ago when I first tried it out. I've had nothing but success with them. Great lures.

Anybody out there have experience with Duracraft?
Turns out it is actually a Duratech. Old boat built up north somewhere. In fairly good shape so I went ahead and bought it. Guy came down on his price to a point where I couldn't help it. Has a couple of small leaks at like three or four rivets. Few minor dings which I've already hammered out. Seats came out without an issue. Already cut and laid in the floor to cover up the ribs. So I guess at some point I should start a thread with a start to finish on it. Next thing to look for is a used bow mount foot control trolling motor....

The one I'm going to look at is a 1236. Supposedly it's in fantastic shape. He said the one odd thing is that it has ribs every 12 inches. So I'm hopeful it's a sturdy boat. Guess I'll have to see. He wants like 300 bucks for it with the title.

Private vs Public schools
I send both of my daughters to public school. Why? Because I honestly believe public schools are better for growing kids. They experience more. They meet different kinds of people. Is the education as good as at a private institution? I don't know. Probably not. Also Bassn Blvd, you may want to look into the Florida VPK program at schools in your area. I'm VERY happy with the education my kids got while they were in it. They are both on the honor roll in their school as well being some of the top students in their grade/classes. Like somebody else pointed out, parental involvement is the key whether they go to private or public schools. If your wallet can handle the nine grand, I say go for it. If you like it and think it's good for the kid, then there you go. Speaking for myself, my preschool bill was roughly 20k a year. I didn't go broke because of it, but having that extra cash back in my pocket is really nice around the vacation season.

High School Sucks!
What I wouldn't give to go back to high school. Once you're done with school, you'll start to realize how hard life can be. Especially in this economic climate that we're currently in. I couldn't imagine how hard it would be for some of the kids fresh out of college right now trying to get work. Enjoy yourself as much as you can in high school. Yeah, some classes suck, sometimes you fail a test, who cares. Just drive on and do better next time. You'll get out of school what you put into it. Just don't let it get you down because you got some F on a piece of paper. Nobody will really care down the road that you got an F in a single semester in a single class.

Caught a couple good ones
Boy if thats not motivation to try out a few of those swimbaits I don't know what is. Great fish right there. That 9lber is one fat fish.

depthfinder problem (low voltage)
You may also want to have that battery rechecked on a different tester. Some machines say they're good, some say not. I've got a battery here that I know is shot, but it tests good on a couple of machines.

Anybody out there have experience with Duracraft?
Hoping somebody out there has some kind of experience with Duracraft Jon Boats. I'm going to look at one in a few hours and am wondering if, as a brand, they are junk or not. Can't find much info on them on the web.

What I've learned from nite fishing
I love night fishing. Like you said, you lose your sense of sight so you pay more attention to what the lure is doing. You also learn how to actually be quiet. You quickly learn how loud you really are. Sounds are amplified at night something fierce.

favorite fishing show
I don't really have a favorite. I look forward to Friday nights though. Versus and The Outdoor channel are nothing but fishing. But my top five would be: Hunt For Big Fish with Larry D City Limits Bass Pros Roland Martin Classic Patterns

South Florida Club Looking for Members
I've got to stop by one of their meetings one day. I've heard nothing but good things about that club.
