  1. ima say right under 3 lbs... nice catch
  2. Watermelon purple baby brush hog with the tail dipped in chart. dye. with a 4 ought Mister Twister keeper hook with a 1/8 oz weight. I keep it tied on all the time just to flip out around stranded trees and brush.
  3. We haven't got and inch of rain in four months here in central Louisiana and I know all you other southeastern bassfisherman have to be dreading this high pressure system that just won't move out of here. The temp. tommarrow is supposed to 101 here and a heat index of 110. I hope something changes or this is going to be a bad summer for bassfishing in this area.
  4. Nice baits, I wouldnt mind gettin my hands on a pirahna or chart. shad those are the two I favor the best. good work!
  5. I'd go buy me 1/4 oz. bitsy bug jig black and blue in the mornings and evenings or on cloudy days. Or on cloudy or sunny days I'd use a pumpkin chart. color in a grassy flat area of the lake you'll be fishing. I like to use pork rinds on the back because its a fact that real pork gives the jig more bouancy (if I spelled that wrong I'm srry). Cast the jig out across the flat and retrieve it by popping the jig write underneath the top of the water about 3 inches or so and keep working the flats in this way and you'll know very soon if the fish are biting the bait or not. Sometimes you can be swimming the bait and just stop it on the way back and the fish will stike the bait on the fall so be ready for that also. I'd use a chart. pork rind on the pumpkin seed jig and a black and blue pork rind on the black and blue jig. good luck and I did the best I could to answer your question correctly
  6. idk what happend to that last repy I made but this one was supposed to show up. I believe this to be a nice reel in my opinion I like it better than the chromica.
  7. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/reels/low_profile_baitcasting/Chromica.image.-familyImage-Single-image.dash.512.384.gif Now these are what I consider pretty reels in my opinion and we all know you can't beat a shimano on reliabilaty and performance
  8. Thanks for the posts and I have a convergeince they are nice but I went back by the store today for some baits and looked at the rod again. It's not only a lightning it's a lightning shock I looked at a regular lightning rod while I was there and this "shock" seems to look and feel way better. Here is a picture of the rod I've been talking about.
  9. Hi welcome to bassresource. There's alot of good information on this site so pay attention and you'll learn alot. What part of oklahoma are you from? I just got back from oklahoma with a friend. We stayed between Ada and Paul's Valley at Lake Longmire. It's a trophy lake. The minimum length limit is 22 inches. I believe the stae record was caught from there.
  10. Are local news team is joining up with the Louisiana wildlife and fisheries to tag fish with prizes on them. They are tagging bass, Catfish, and Bream. One of the fish has a tag for $100,000. Their will also be many other prizes on fish such as a new polaris fourwheeler, and many other prizes. The lakes that they will be having the program on will be Beulow Lake, Indian Creek, Nantachi, Anacoco, and Kencaid lake. These lakes are located in central louisiana. I believe they will be having it through september. ;D
  11. those are awsome baits but I can't tell how big they are. They seem like they may be too big for fishing around here.
  12. Thanks guys I'm still trying to decide whether to buy it or not. I'm just trying to find a decent fishing rod that I can afford. I'm only sixteen and paying gas and insurance is enough right now. But I'm sure I could wait till christmas and birthday and get a carrot stick or kistler but I was thinking I'd go get me a descent rod for a lower price. I have an ugly stick light pro and I like it alot but I was looking for a rod that is a little more sensitive for worm fishing. I use baitcasting rods btw.
  13. I'm about to buy a berkley lightning rod and was wondering if anyone has purchased one already and could let me know what they think about it. I hear they are comparable to carrot sticks and kistler rods for an affordable price for the low budget fisherman.
  14. I have to agree also. I know i usually use lizards more during the spawn and catch many fish but I've heard stories about people catching big fish on them in the summer months swimming them weightless through lillie pads and grass. I use worms more during the summer and catch alot of fish especially when I'm river fishing. I notcie I used lizards more when I'm lake fishing. I think they can both be just as effective as the other depending on where you are and what the conditions are.
  15. Here in Louisiana its been hotter than I've ever seen. It reached 102 today and thats not the heat index thats the temp. I can't believe how hot it is here. 5 minutes after going outside i'm drenched in sweat. We went fishing saturday and caught 2 and missed a couple under some heavy shady cover but the bite was not there, we we're only getting reaction strikes. You ppl up north can send us some rain as soon as u get tired of it.
  16. how shallow are we talking? Because I catch big fish in two to three foot of water year round in the lakes around here, even after the spawn.
  17. sounds like youve got everything under control. Good Luck and Good Fishin'
  18. Man tell me about it... its so *%@$ hot here i can't stand to be outside anymore. If we don't get some rain soon bassfishing is gonna be hell this year. I Live in the central part of Louisiana and if it wasn't for the backwater from red river, all of our lakes would be dry. The Hurricane blew out a d**n on the north end of Saline/Larto lake last year and dried up the entire lake. I heard the backwater made the dam bust again. If so ppl are gonna catch all the fish out just like they did last year because the water is so low the fish have nowhere to go. But I hate this because it's terrible for our fish population. I wish we had a fish hatchery on the lake.
  19. The red river has got all of our lakes around here backed way up. When we git an extreme high water we usually fish around submerged camps edges of levees submerged road beds. Alot of fish get around gravel. Whether it is extremely high or moderately high, but especially after a rain, I would look for some kind of run out structure like a small d**n or mouths of creeks and on points with current flowing across.
  20. I've fished in the rain many times and noticed that the fish really bite well during a rain shower but when the storm begins to lightning the fish tend to quit biting. I guess if it's lightning, I should be off the water anyway, but I'm concerned on why the fish do this??? :-?
  21. What I've found about bass fishing in rainy weather is that the bass will feed during a rain shower especially because the barometric pressure usually drops but everytime its starts lightning the fish tend to quit biting. I don't understand why but this is what I've found. I think I'll make a post out of this question maybe someone can answer it.
  22. I had the same problem the other day. I went up to Oklahoma with a buddy of mine and they've got some beautiful farm ponds up in this area. I was using and zoom super fluke "terrin em up" they would sometimes swallow the hook and I's hook them deep in the throat. Most people say to just leave the hook in and let it rust out on its own. I always keep a pocket knife on me and keep it as razor sharp as I can so I would just make the smallest cut that I could without terring the fish up, and my hook eventually eased out. The fish weren't bleeding and they seemed to all swim off just fine without any floaters. When this happens, this is the best explanation that I got.
  23. I think the more proper name of it is Ceratophyllum demersum. Google it and let me know what you think.
  24. Definatley what we call "COONTAIL" grass down here in Louisiana. I googled it just to make sure I was right and it looks just like it. I think I got this one right.
