  1. Bobby, I have been throwing a 3/8 oz black on black cavitron in many different lakes and conditions, and have yet to have a bass even attempt to strike it. There have been times where I throw the buzzbait with no success, then immediately switch to some other topwater the bass clobber it. The thing is, my cavitron is LOUD. The squeak makes it the loudest bait I have by far, and I'm afraid it is spooking the fish. Is this normal? I normally cast it and retrieve it as slow as possible over flats or shallow weedy areas with no success. Am I doing something wrong?
  2. I've caught largemouth on a mepps aglia size #4 before.
  3. I just started using baitcasters this season, and they have completely edged out all my spinning setups. I think they are better than spinning reels in almost every aspect possible. The only application I still use spinning setups for are when I am throwing a really light weight soft plastic.
  4. very interesting indeed. might have to give this a try!
  5. These baits have been disappearing from shelves and online catalogs. Have they been discontinued? I know they used to be made by Excalibur and Bill Dance's name was put on it, then Heddon purchased it, and now I can't seem to find them anywhere besides small websites online that charge a fortune for shipping. Also, has anyone had success with this bait in a certain color? The threadfin shad color looks amazing, and so does the pumpkinseed.
  6. I love the 100 series. The tennessee shad color is almost magical.
  7. Dick's Sporting Goods had yamamoto senkos on sale for $3 a bag a couple months ago. They have them on sale once in a while, so stock up when that happens!
  8. river2sea bully wa frog by far.
  9. love this bait, it is one of my favorite jerkbaits. I only use this and LC pointers, and the x-rap out performs the pointers on certain days.
  10. haha so what's the difference between the two? I learned on spinning gear that is LH, so switching over was no problem at all for me.
  11. YES! that's my 2nd favorite color, only 2nd to this one: http://www.wareaglelures.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=24
  12. x2, especially with the new dual braking system.
  13. The St. Croix rods are only worth it in my opinion once you get to Avids and up. the mojo is a disappointing rod and was overhyped. I would personally go with the compre, if this is your price range. The upper level shimano rods are awesome as well.
  14. bomber square A's, bomber model B's, and mann's 1-minus cranks. for craw trailers, rage tail craw variations and netbait craws.
  15. bomber model "b" cranks. kill 'em on this lure in shallow flats.
  16. for me, its either a black jitterbug or a black buzzbait retrieved very slowly.
  17. is there any place we can find specs on these rods, or are they so new that the specs haven't been released yet? kind of excited to see what they are made of.
  18. hey....move over so I can join in Yeah I have an STX, and it's no where near as good as my Daiwa Steez. I would definitely get the Steez instead. haha but seriously though, I do have an STX, and I have no complaints. I would say as long as you are not planning on casting really light baits, the STX is a fine reel. It has a heck of a drag too.
  19. it may just be how you are fishing the lure. the amount of slack in the line and the action of your rod affect how the popper is fished. on that note, I have had more success with a faster retrieve so that the popper makes a spitting sound, rather than the slow "bloops" you are speaking of.
  20. river2sea makes one called the "G-Hope crank." it is 3/16 oz I believe.
  21. arbogast hula popper. used to be my go-to topwater lure.
  22. I agree. It's not made to be a fishing show, its more of an informative documentary type show. Quoted for truth. ???? Please explain how this is a horrible show. I find the show very knowledgable and entertaining. I agree. It's not made to be a fishing show, its more of an informative documentary type show.
  23. interesting question. Now that I think about it, I actually cast with my index finger on the trigger, but after the cast, I switch to my ring finger on the trigger. For casting, my thumb gets much better positioning if my index finger is on the trigger. However, when I want to work my bait back to the boat, it is much easier when my ring finger is on the trigger because I can palm the reel and it is more balanced and I feel like I have much more control.
  24. x2. I would like to know the answer to this question as well.
