I'm trying to buy a kayak for both fishing and recreation and was hoping to get some recommendations.. I don't really want to spend over $500 so nothing too fancy.. and also I'm having trouble finding any good stores to buy from here near Northern Virginia.. thanks!

just picked up this spinning reel from Dick's on sale.. just wondering if anyone has had any good/bad experiences with it?.. the fishing department rep. told me it was pretty durable and a good reel for a cheap price..

Agree completely.. unfortunately im a relatively new fisherman and have caught almost all my fish on senkos, meaning that's just about the only bait i really have any confidence in... i love trying out new baits and have tried many different types, but havent had any luck with anything but plastics as of now... gonna keep on trying others tho cuz it makes it more fun for me even if im not catching 8-)

been havin the same problem lately also... seems like Northern VA ponds and lakes are just fished too heavily for them to handle Stunning i sent a PM

wow, sorry didnt mean to start such an argument... and i didnt know it could be beneficial to keep some fish or that people eat bass, so it makes much more sense now.. like i said im a new fisherman so im constantly learning things... and yeah it was basically jealousy on my part to let it bother me...

So i was fishing one of my usual ponds when a guy across from me caught a beautiful bass, my guess around 5 or 6 lbs... he looked around to see if i was watching then sneakily took off with the bass in hand... I've only been fishing a few years now and that would've been by far my best fish, but now I'll never get a chance at it... I know there are laws regarding catch and release, and judging by the size of the fish it was probably legal for him to keep it, but its just frustrating to me, a relatively new fisherman, to know that I won't ever be able to catch that beautiful fish and that it had to die... It made me wonder what people do with bass like that when they keep them? I know you don't need the actual bass to make a replica, only pictures, so other than that all I can guess is to eat it?... but never really heard of bass as great food...

x1000... cant stand bisping... he annoys me more than any fighter out there... and i wouldnt be surprised to see Kimbo get tossed early from the show, but i respect the fact that hes trying to make it into the UFC the hard way, rather than just getting in because of his name... like he did in the EliteXC... i think Dana White played it right

heading down to Lake Anna this weekend.. have been a few times but just wondering if anyone knows of any good public fishing spots i can try? 8-)

heading down to Myrtle Beach in a week and really want to do some deep sea fishing, preferably some sport fishing and just wondering if anybody has any suggestions of a good boat charter company to go with??... ill be going fishing alone most likely so dont wanna spend hundreds of dollars on the trip

save yourself some money and get last years model for $39 on their website... i picked it up last week and have used it a few times and so far so good... its my first BC so im not the expert, but its worked well for me so far

UPDATE: Just wanted to thank u guys again for the info... got my reel last week and have taken it out a few times... i started practicing with it in my backyard and got pretty good, but naturally once i was out on the water i kept gettin too excited and would cast way too hard and got some nice tangles haha but nothing too bad... been working on keeping more control... overall I'm loving the Xtreme reel.. it casts like a charm when i take my time and slow down... like you guys said for $39 i think its an unbeatable reel 8-)

i fished the little pond right near the hotel there and didnt catch anything, but that pond ur talking about looks legit... wish i had known that existed when i went out there haha... gonna be gone all weekend, or id join.. but let us know the results

100% agree with you on the SEC... ppl are always tryin to rip at it, yet they win everything... you a Gator fan?? been a Gator fan all my life... even tho i go to Virginia haha

its on sale for $39 and jus wondering if its a reliable baitcasting reel?... getting into baitcasting for the first time so dont know much about the reels and i cant afford to spend much more than this...

Cabelas is selling this Shakespeare Agility/Cabela's Pro Guide Baitcasting combo for really cheap online... the reviews are mostly very high on their site, but just wondering if anyone knew more about it/if it would be worth buying??

strike king makes a midnight special spinnerbait thats given me decent success.. its black and red and makes extra noise for attracting... but ive had the most success on the same worms i use during the day, most successful being a root beer senko

seems to be a similar theme in Northern, VA... burke lake is tough... had some success there last summer but nothing great, seems to be very rough tho if you can't get out on a boat... i got myself a crappy row boat for free last summer off craigslist and i fixed it up and it works great now to get me out there... you should try to do the same... im always lookin for new places to fish up here as well if anyone has any other spots
