What do deep fish do in the Morning?
I would go opposite of what Catt says depending on what time you get to your spot. As we all know bass move in shallow at night to feed. If you are at your spot at daybreak you may still get some good early morning shallow fish, then move out. But if you get there and the sun has already been out then just do as Catt says and start deep and move in.

Daiwa Aggrest
I am in need of a new reel for lipless cranks and the aggrest is the one I am most interested in. If anyone has one please let me know about them. Are they smooth? Will it cast a xr50 better than my revo sx? How would you compare it to a revo sx?

Abu Verdict
Just looked at tackletour and came across the verdict. Nice looking rod, $130 price range. Looks like they took an idea from American Rodsmiths on the handle. Similar to the magstrike or magstrike predator. Silver blank looks tough. Says it will be available this fall.

Eeliminator and smokin rooster
I understand I can c rig, flip, and tx rig with them or whatever other way I choose to fish them. But my question is, Which method did Big O have in his head for these baits when he designed them? What method does each of these baits really shine at? To me rooster looks like it should be fished on a swarming hornet underspin, and the eeliminator just swam on a ewg or swimbait hook.

Tough early morning fishing
Try throwing a different topwater bait. Like a torpedo or devils horse. Or maybe a jitterbug.

Re: Worth it?
I own a fuego and can't think of 1 negative thing to say about it. I am a die hard Abu guy too. The fuego is a fine reel.

if you could....
Todd Faircloth (Rayburn), Tommy Biffle (Toledo Bend), and Paul Elias (Falcon) Each has a special outlook and info on those lakes that I want. Certain techniques that I like and want to learn.

Can any experienced lake map readers analyze this for me?
Can't tell from the map, but do any of those coves have creeks that feed into the lake? If so that's where I would start. Find a grass line along a creek channel and you will find fish. Fish accordingly to whatever depth you are in.

Suggestion for first baitcasting rod (Newbie)
You are from Florida I think I read that, so that means you probably have an Academy near by (hopefully). I don't know what's on sale as of now, but every now and again they run a special. A Shimano Citica and an Allstar classic rod $120 or $130 for the combo. They run it once or twice a year, hopefully you can time it right.

Slow year for big fish?
Jack, my aunt Nancy has caught 3 this year 9lbs +. Fishing Rayburn. Her biggest was a 10.6. She caught that one 3 hrs after the McDonalds BB tourney ended on the final day. Coleman Bay is where she pulled it out of. Of course they live 5 mins from the Walter Humphry pavilion so she basically lives on the water and knows some really good spots. I on the other hand have not caught one much over 4lbs this year. It's been horrible. Maybe it's time for a trip to O.H. Ivie

hook question
What is the recommended hook style for baits like the zoom swimming fluke, reaction innovations skinny dipper, and keitech swing impact? Do they swim correctly if I just use a EWG hook or does it have to be a swimbait hook?

How to fish a crankbait?
I don't know how the grass is where you live, but in Toledo Bend and Rayburn where I fish it is thick. I use cranks around grass lines and grass bottoms. If it's 14' deep, I'm going to throw a Bandit 300 (dives around 12'). I like to crank it just on the top of the grass. When I feel it starting to bury, I simply stop and let it rise for a few seconds then continue my retrieve. I use two different retrieves, 1. steady, just reel until I feel the grass then stop as mentioned above. 2. I do what I call the carolina rig retrieve, after the cast crank it down to it's max depth. Then just give it some long slow pulls and reel up the slack at the end of the pull. Wait a few seconds and repeat. Just like draggin a big c rig with a lizard on it. Both ways seem to work for me in water from 4'-12'. I can't seem to get any in deeper water though. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, hell I don't know.

Tactics and Strategy For the Fall
South east Tx, I will fish the same baits in fall as I do in spring time. Lots of flipping (buck brush), lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, hollow swimbaits, cranks 4'-12' divers, and last but definatley not least the good ol x rap or rogue. The only change I will make is the color of my lipless crank. I use rayburn red or toledo gold in spring, for fall it will be ghost or chrome.

Reed fishing
I would throw a 5"hollow body swimbait all in and around the pads and reeds. As weedless as possible (no stinger hook). Try starting off slow swimming just off the bottom then maybe a little higher in the middle. If that doesn't work hit the reeds with a jig or punch bait setup. And last but not least try a slug go, fluke, or senko around the pads.

Baitcasting Rod under $160
Less than $100=Abu Garcia vendetta,Temple Fork Outfitters (look on tackle warehouse), American Rodsmith limit stix, Allstar ASR A little over $100= E21 carrot sticks gold series, Falcon Bucoo and lowrider and probably the Abu veritas. My next rod purchase will be the Temple Fork. Oh and the Kistler carbon steel that you mentioned is a good rod. I have a freind who swears by them.

Favorite Lure that doesn't work?
Huddlestons and deep diving cranks. If it's a crank that dives deeper than 12' I will not catch anything. I can catch them on Bandit 300's and baits like that, just not the big deep divers. It's weird and a little frustrating.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
ok Catt, N 31.25637 W 93.67571 just outside six mile. Looks to be on the left side of the boat lane. What am I looking at here? What could the strange circular shapes be, and are these "things" something I should try to find and fish?

Bigwoodsfishandgame, Vinton La
It is a place that has members who pay a really hefty yearly fee.$2500 a year I believe. They supply the cabins(waterfront), boats and all that good stuff. The only thing you bring is your gear and food.I have a buddy who is a member at this place, and he wants me to go with him. I'm going to go but was wondering if anyone has ever fished here before. They have a website and it looks awesome. If you've been let me know what you think of it. Is it worth a trip? bigwoodsfishandgame.com
