Rod + Braid question
Pardon my ignorance. Im new to using braided lines. Is it ok to use 50lb braid if the line weight for the rod is like 15 - 30lb? I'm talking about the factory line weight that is printed on the rod.

According to Ish...
As much as I admire Ish and his skills, I will stick with my Gamakatsu EWG's and G locks. When they bite, they are getting hooked. Period.

TD Fuego
I have one. I use it exclusivley for senko's, fat ika's,flukes. It will cast any of those baits a mile with 12lb sufix seige. They are very smooth and a very small profile compared to my revo's. A very good reel. If i could I would buy another without hesitation.

Purple Plastics
I heard that purple was one of the best and last colors that a bass can see. My question is what water color is purple the best for? Gin clear, stained, muddy? Is it good for shallow clear as in 6' or less?

American Rodsmiths Rat l trap Rod
Where did you get that info? The only rat l trap rod I know of by them is in the team series lineup. Are you looking at there saltwater/inshore rods? That action sounds more like a saltwater trout rod to me.

Fluorocarbon leader????
Last I knew, Fireline was a fused superline, not a fluoro. Some people use leaders with superlines, some don't. I personally don't use a leader with my braid because I don't feel the braid's visibility deters strikes. You need to do whatever gives you more confidence. I'm unaware of any definitive evidence on the value (or lack of same) of using leaders. Well that's a bummer. I thought it was fluoro. If I use it on a rod that has fuji guides will superline cut grooves in the guides like regular braid? As of now I use it on a vendetta and a BPS extreme, I don't know what kind of guides they are but I know they are not titanium. Are my rods ok to use with this line?

Fluorocarbon leader????
I was watching a fishing show earlier today and the woman said she was using fireline with a fluorocarbon leader. The fluoro I use is fireline. Would someone use a fluoro leader with braid? If so why? And I am a little green when it comes to fluoro so maybe I don't understand the whole leader idea, can someone please help me understand. Do you tye on a certain length of fluoro to a swivel then to the line on your rod? Im so confused.

Bill Lewis Pro Rat-L-Trap
Throw lipless cranks year round. At least down here we do. They are always productive. I love late winter and early spring for throwing an xcalibur xr50 and xr75 in rayburn red color. And the Bill Lewis you speak of, If that's the one with the spinner on back, it's a good productive bait.

Cold water baits for south Florida?
My attack plan for cold here in southeast Tx is DD22's, Bomber fat free shad, and Bandit 700 series cranks. Find any WOOD structure in the body of water you are fishing. If there is any. Bang those big cranks off of it. I have found that fishing a crank is not just throw and crank, for me it works when I crank it down deep and fish it a little like a carolina rig. Long pull then pause and repeat. If that don't produce go for a carolina rig. I was told when a it is cold, the bass don't want to use a lot of energy to eat a bait. They would rather use energy to eat a bigger bait so they don't have to feed as often. So to me that say's use baits with a larger profile such as 12" worms, jigs, and larger size cranks. Also jigging spoons.

H20 Xpress Jointed Shad/Sunfish- Any reviews?
Fishunter, choose your words wisely on here. The mods do not like for people to sound like they are advertising on here if they do not have permission to do so. Not saying you did but just be careful. I have a lot of those swimbaits btw and I love em. Are you also involved with the rest of the cranks from H2O? I have a ton of H2O cranks and they are made very well. I notice the similarities in a lot of H2O's compared to other baits. The LCR for example is very very similar to the SPRO Aruku shad.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Ok Catt, For the south end Six mile/Sandy creek areas. At what water temp do the bass start bedding up? And when do you think this will start to happen? I know with the cold weather we have received latley it should delay it a little longer than normal. Do you think late feb or as late as middle to late march?

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
launched at six mile yesterday with a buddy, an avid angler on the Basschamps circuit.A little chilly in the morning but warming up to 50 something degs in the afternoon.Sunny and a little windy, not bad though. We started off with deep cranks. I threw a Bandit 700, he tossed a Bomber fat free and a DD22. Nothing. So I started tossing a 12" black BPS worm on a c rig.Again nothing. We move to six mile flats. There is still too much grass. In Jan in 14' of water the grass is still 2' below the surface. We threw xcalibur xr50's,xraps,spinnerbaits,tx rigs and whatever else you could in that spot. And nothing would bite. We tried various other spots and everywhere we went and everyone we taked too, nobody could get bit. It was dissappointing and confusing. On a day that was so beautiful nobody could catch anything? I still had fun though.

Fluoro question
Is there a certain fluoro line size that is not good to cast? As of now I use 14lb fireline crystal and it casts very very good with lipless cranks. I ask because i need a good bigger sized strong line for a set up that is for jigs and swimbaits. I don't want braid.

Revo owners please respond
