  1. honestley i fish them year round. when the fish are off deep dropoffs, and creek channels, i will throw a crank. now im no expert by any means but its produced. ive had some trouble this spring doing that though. in south texas cranks work no matter the time of year. it may not be true to where you fish though. also lipless cranks year round too. xcalibur rayburn red from dec to june.
  2. watermelon red/black flake
  3. honestly i use 12 r&r's when i fish, i only have 1 reel that cost 150+. its a revo sx. i own 3 daiwas 2 exelors and 1 megaforce and i love all of them. the exelors are $80 at academy and i absolutley love them. im sure there are better, but i wouldnt know.
  4. what works around here is a tube not huge but not tiny, rig it regular and i know this may sound stupid but put a piece of alka seltzer in the tube. when it gets on bottom and the alka seltzer starts fizzing it drives the bass crazy. try it out. it works
  5. what exactly do you mean by light? my lightest setup is not the most expensive r&r in the world but it will cast a 5 " senko tx rigged weightless a country mile. i use a daiwa megaforce and an all star classic 7 ft med action fast tip, on 10lb suffix seige.
  6. I have fished a lot on t-bend with my friend at night. he fishes a long point that extends into the lake. I have noticed as the moon rises and falls he will follow the moon around the point staying on the brighter side of the shoreline. If there is any moon at all he will do this. Is this habit or do you think there is a reason ?
  7. what color lens work best for mostly semi staind to sometimes clear water? any help would be nice.
  8. will a bass hit a swimbait in a trout pattern if trout are not even a native fish or stocked in that lake?
  9. Toledo bend, the beginning of april. 71 degs outside 64 deg water temp. bluebird skies. a little wind. caught fish in the morning on x rap and senkos. the bite slowed, so i moved out a bit and found a ton of fish on a drop off from 7 ft to 20 ft. fish were stacked and suspending between 10 and 15 ft. i through tons of cranks in that range in many different colors, and could not get a single bite.why, why, why?
  10. my fishin buddy has been night fishing 20+ years. on toledo bend resevoir, and doesnt like day fishing. he consistantly catches solid limits of bass and a good many in the double digits. his night fishing strategy changed when he put on a jumbo pork frog on a spinnerbait. and i mean jumbo. he noticed he got a lot less short strikes and a lot more solid hook ups and he believes the bass are targeting the frog more than bait body. dont know if this helps but try it out.
  11. my buddy has a question, he is a hardcore nightime fisherman. recently he has tried to fish with me during the daytime, and has average success. will go back on the same water same area at night and produce unbelieveable stringers of fish. he wants to start day fishing, but is dissapointed with most day trips. what makes nightime fishing better for him? is it confidence or do the bass do something at night that they dont do during the day.
  12. i think i made a mistake when i bought a pflueger. its a criterion and yes i realise its cheap but it had a good gear ratio for cranks. anyway the problem i had 3 times now is the spool will backspin for no reason. like if i catch a little grass, and try to just fling it off ,it just spins. i set the hook on one and it happened again. the third time i snagged a log with my x rap and tried to jerk it loose. backspin again birds nest in my reel. whats wrong with it and can it be fixed? is it a clutch problem? i only paid $50 for it is it even worth the trouble? what are some reasonable priced good reels $120 or less with a low gear ratio?
  13. has anyone else made the comparison of these two companies baits? colors, durability, pricing. in my opinion,( which might not mean much because im the new guy to this forum) big bite wins. they have better craws, creatures, and yes im gonna say it 8" lizards. zoom wins in worms and 6" lizards though. big bite have wonderful colors are just as durable, have bite juice scent and are priced better. what do you guys think
  14. Hi, im the new guy. I live in southeast Tx. the main lakes i fish are toledo bend and sam rayburn. i LOVE to bass fish. been doing it since i was knee high and will do it until i die. if im not fishing a topwater im throwing 10"+ worms. im not real strong in cranks yet. but im slowly getting there. this seems like a pretty cool thing for info so i hope i can help with any questions.
