I tried to have a quick 1 or 2 hr trip to my favorite local pond after work yesterday. but much to my surprise when i get there, the lower neches valley water authority (they are in charge of the pond) dug a huge ditch or trench at the entrance.no way around or through it. i was crushed. well gotta find a new local spot. it was a great spot that i could catch fish at and not have to drag my boat for an hour to get there.

i always tie directley to the split ring, and have never used a speed clip,and catch plenty of fish that way.

out of my last 5 trips to toledo bend and sam rayburn, i have used stanley ribbits. and have zero'd. i will go behind them with a devils horse or mag torpedo and catch fish. they are a good search bait i guess but i cant catch on them. i have caught fish on them in ponds but never the big fish lakes. now i just use the legs for spinnerbait and jig trailers.

ive never used them but want to. i fish the ugly otter a lot and love them. c-rigged is the way i use them and thats probably how i would use the hyper freak.

nobody ever said anything bad about another species. yes i totally agree other species should be cared for and managed properly. i just dont understand how tarpon or grouper were even brought up on a topic that had to do with holding large bass up with two hands. :-?

what is a good starter kit for airbrushing lures? how long does it take to actually get decent at it?

i am a die hard smithwick devils horse fisherman, and i cant tell you how many bass ive caught that were the same size and sometimes smaller than my lure.

i recentley switch most of my reels over to this line from berkley big game. does anyone know of any problems with this line. its not on my topwater rod yet, does it affect topwater baits?

a good beginner reel. learn like i did. abu garcia c3 4600 or c4 4600. not a lot of knobs and gadgets. just a brake and drag. simple to use, all thumb control. a classic still in production. and for a good reason.

i love a slug go. i still throw em. black/gold and shad colors. tx rigged weightless. i use them in one certain spot i know of where it's 5ft deep and grass that drops to about 10ft. it always seems to work for me there. they hit it when i drag from the grass to the drop before it hits bottom.

smithwick still makes a wooden devils horse, and bagleys. thats all of the old ones that i know of.

no i was just saying that this is a bass forum. im sure tarpon and grouper are great and they deserve to be treated properly too, but im not on here to talk saltwater. im sure there is a different forum for that and that is why im not on it. i bass fish.

that has happened to me before. when i did a lot of ul fishing. but when you do pull that 6lb bass in on 4lb line its totally worth it. i did it many years ago. on a frog bodied beetle spin. the stupid thing i did on that one was, i was a kid (11)and tried to make a stringer with a stick and kite string. i stuck it in the mud and shortley after i watched the 2nd biggest fish of my life swim away with a stick sticking sticking out of his gills

what does taking photographs of tarpon or grouper have to do with anything on here?

one buddy is all kistler, my other buddy is powell, im all about american rodsmiths, my dad is an e21 nut, each has there own top notch rods, but its all about what YOU like. but of the three i would go with powell.
