It's a crank-bait rod basically , you can use it for other techniques but the results won't be as good. Sell it and get rods more to your liking.

Yes , use a blood knot. At the top left hand corner of page are "Fishing Articles" , click on it , click onto "Fishing Tips and Tactics", click on "Equipment" , click on "Knots " , it will show you how to tie a blood knot.
