  4. ive seen his saddle. got to sit on it. very large.. very cool
  5. when i broke off fish during the fight the last 3 inches of the line had random quarter inch patches of line that felt like it had been crimped with forceps. catfish? gar? bass? . there were gar around
  6. it was 6 lb yo zuri ultra soft ,about 8 months old. like you suggested. and your saying you dont get hung up and break off?.. im considering using maybe 8 lb magnathin. same diameter as 6 lb. but im still liking the nanofil. just wondering if line visiblity will matter even though im using leader. might change to flouro leader with the nanofil.
  7. fishing was : fair. fished from 10 to 3 with xl minners. they were running 10k when we got there and kicked it up to 20 k at noon. thats why we got there so late (to hit the higher water).started out in below the boils but wind and current just kept spinning the boat towards the rocks. was rather windy. had stripers following our bait up when we reeled in. went to the west bank just below the first power lines and drifted all the way to the second power lines. stayed out of the wind. gar feeding on shad on top near all the deep holes. caught a couple large mouth, a smallie the size of my minnow, white bass, drum ect. saw a guy catch a 5 lb largemouth about 30 yds down stream from us. most people seemed to be having same luck. some but not many. probably lost as many as we caught just from not getting a good hook in them and some broke the line. one nice bass did. but im not sure if it was a largemouth or smallouth. fished with 10 lb nanofil on a carolina rig. (mono leader) and didnt break the whole rig off once the whole day. just the leader a few times. my fishing partner broke his whole rig off at least 10 times today , didnt like the # 6 circle hooks to well. think i might try like some #4 kahle or shiner hooks from gammy or maybe some splitshot hooks. just didnt seem to get the hookup ratio i liked. when we swithced to kahles it got alot better. we werent setting the hook. ( im used to circle hooks, use them for brown trout). has anyone tried either of those hooks for drifting shiners?
  8. tx rigged 4 in powerworms in watermelon. caught hundreds of fish of that combo.
  9. mckellar has fish. show on youtube of carl graham flippin the buckbrush there. do no consider even keeping fish from there. thats where alot of memphis industrial waste goes.
  10. shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh stop telling people about the types of places i like to fish there are NO crappie in oxbows nor are there bass.
  11. so that 13 lb bass your dad caught was actually 13 kg. or 28 lbs. jk
  12. similar results at cville today... fished from early morning to 10. During the early morning shad on top everywhere.but it wasnt like they were being eaten. just chased. it was weird. they were just dimpling the top but that dies down by 8ish. casting to sports with my trusty superfluke but never got a hit. So i got out my fly rod and started throwing a clouser minnow that looked just like a shad in the water. first cast. BAM 1.5 lber. then nothing. caught a few more on the clouser and a few on a white popping bug but size was terribly poor. the 1.5 lber was the biggest. worker most ares of the pond. 2 locals beat the bank the whole way around the pond with spinnerbaits and had 2 small bass between them to show for it.
  13. ive had super flukes that have gotten ripped weird and catch fish way better.
  14. FALCON CRAW IS MISSING

  16. black and blue craw as a jig trailer, and the silver SHAD
  17. ok. under the bass resource advice im reconsidering my rod choice. i am going to use a 4:7:1 bps pro qual. I want to be able to throw the spro bbz shad in slow and fast sink(around 1 oz._, the spro bbz 6'' trout (around 2 oz.), but would also like to throw traps and maybe fat johns and DD22s with this. the two rods im looking at now are the Okuma big bait casting rod in 7'6'' med heavyMy link and the E21 Carrot Stix Wild Cast Rod 7'6" Heavy My link
  18. i was thinking 40 lb. suffix 832 with 15 lb abrazix leader. how long of leader?
  19. ok. might bump it up to 7,6 mh
  20. i want a setup to throw the 4 in. 1 oz bbz spro shad. im thinking the BPS crankin stick in 7 foot MH and the BPS pro qualifier with 15 lb. Abrazix? im going to be fishing this in some clear water and some heavily stained water. good setup. want to stay in the 100 dollar price range on each of the rod and reel and want to also be able to crank with it,
  21. never wouldve guessed that one
