  1. I seen that pic a while ago, and I think(foggy), it was a double charge. Knock on wood, after 19 years of rollin' my own, I've not had a double.
  2. I have an 01' Toyota Tundra, it's got around 150,000 on it. It ain't pretty, but has taken the beatings I've given it, plus the 2 deer and a bear its killed. ;D
  3. Where were you at Ft. Hood? I was in 1st Cav. 15th FSC from 2000-2003.
  4. My truck was in the shop, and the only rental they had was a camry back when I drilled gas wells. I don't know about long term quality, but I had that camry on well locations where trucks shouldn't be. ;D
  5. I was a terrible child as I look back, my parents never diciplined me. I recieved all of my values from the ARMY, and they did a very thurough job of it. Up until my son was 4, he had a few spankings, but that didn't work too well for him. He is a mechanical genius at age 5, I let him run the controls on the backhoe and excavator, and he always remembers what does what. The last time I used a log splitter(rented one a while ago), he refused to clean his toys up before he knew I was getting it. I asked him if that was his final choice, and he said "yes sir" I said ok, and picked up the splitter. When I got home, his jaw dropped, and he was crushed he had to stay in the house all day to clean his toys, and fill a lawn and leaf bag full of his choice of toys for good will. He learned that if he doesn't get his work done, he can't help run the equipment, and he lost some toys over it, he hasn't acted up since. On a side note: I picked up a free "parts" mower a few weeks ago, and that boy has had it in a 1,000 pieces, and put it all back together at the age of 5. It may not sound like much, but as a maintenance mechanic, it brought a tear to this papa's eye. 8-)
  6. Hunting Reloading Firearm auctions Ballistics Casting bullets Target shooting Anything to do with my man cave(gun room)
  7. Fishn hard, I've got to agree with you on the hard work thing, I can't stand sitting idle, even carrying wood in in the winter gives me a small feeling of accomplishment, and about the only exercise I get ;D. I love spending time in the garage, even if its just maintaing my saws after a day of cutting. I have 3 sources of heat at the moment, I have a gas furnace and the wood stove in the house, and my garage has a waste oil furnace. We lose power regularly in the winter, and I like having a source of heat that dosen't need electricity to run, and I can cook on. My grandfather had one of those saws, it ran good when it ran, but he wasn't big on preventive maintenance. I would imagine being near a paper mill, you can get wood fairly cheap. I'm near the Allegehney national forest, so I can get 4 cords for $20.
  8. Thanks for the link A-Jay, I may look further into the mantis. I burn 90% cherry, and its about the knotiest stuff I've ever seen, I've seen it almost stop a 12 ton 5 hp splitter, I wonder how the mantis would handle it. I'm cutting with a husqvarna 55 with a back up husqvarna 240e.
  9. Been cutting, splitting, and stacking wood for 5 hours a day for the last 2 1/2 weeks, I'm about over it, was too hot to do much over the summer, and my cutting permit runs out at the end of the month. I really need to get a log splitter, the old maul seems to get heavier every day. I complain now, but I know I'll be happy when my gas bill isn't $375 a month .
  10. Slonezp, I'm not knocking Ruger, I love my 10/22 and M77 MKII in .338 win. mag., I just got a lemon of a pistol. I've shot the HP .40, only 1 mag. but it felt pretty good in my small hands, alot less recoil than mine. Like I said, I'm just looking for something strictly utilitarian I don't mind dropping in the mud or banging it around with firewood.
  11. Just curious, I need something utilitarian to carry while cutting firewood on the national forest(lots of weirdo's out there). My reasons for the hi-point. 1.I can afford $150 right now. 2.Lifetime warranty 3.+P rated 4.Ain't scared to scratch it. I chose the .380 because it can be very nasty with the Buffalo Bore +P rounds, they claim .38 special results with the added bonus of an auto with 8 rounds vs. 6. I have a Ruger .40, but it has failed more than once, and I don't trust it as a life saving hand gun, don't get me wrong, I have 2 ruger rifles that are exellent, but that pistol... I've read some reviews, and it seems like the biggest complaint is its ugly, which will fit right in with me. ;D So, anybody have one? How do you like it?
  12. When I had a cell(got tired of it and threw it in the trash), I had a very nice young lady send me a pic by accident. I called her and told her that she was a lovely young lady, but I was happily married, and if I wanted to stay that way, she needed to talk to my wife and explain the mix up to her. By the way she sounded on the phone, she is still digging that hole to hide in,lol.
  13. Why would I want to mask "The Wounded Duck"?
  14. I'm allergic to cats, but I have 2 indoors.
  15. Classic rock/classic country, my all time favorite band is The Who.
  16. I wish I could have just 1 of those ingredients, lol. My latest lab work says my cholesterol is way above normal, and I'm on the verge of kidney failure...probably due to eating things like that. ;D
  17. I run high octane in my '72 Johnson, I just made sure I get it at a station that has a high turn over rate for premium fuel, that expensive gas can sit in an underground tank for a while in these times. If you have a local recetrack, ask some drivers where they buy fuel. As far as carb cleaner, if I own it, and it has a spark plug or glow plug, it gets seafoam.
  18. Just curious, I was looking at a few retailers online, I had no idea you could fetch $5,000 for one. I usually fire it up in the evening when the mosquitoes get bad, my grandfather smoked one, and I always loved the smell of their house growing up.
  19. "If you buy 499 lures, the 500th one is free."
  20. I had it bad once, apparently I can't tell the difference between good/bad pickled eggs :-[. I passed out at work, got an ambulance ride, and a stomach pumping for that one.
  21. I went to the local grocery store this evening, I was inside for 25 minutes max, I come outside, and I kicked something while I was next to my truck, it was a pile of screws. I looked around, and found the source, someone took the chrome strip off of my front wheelwell! They only took 1, but there still like $115 each! My truck is no looker(01' Tundra), but still, someone took the time to drive around and look for a part to steal, and had the nerve to do it during daylight at a busy store. I went back in, and called the police, they came, and took a report and we watched the security tape. They were able to get a good look at the car load of loosers, and get a partial plate #. About 5 years ago(different town) someone cut the catalytic converters off of it while I slept, talk about getting the crap scarred out of you when you fire up a truck in the morning with no exhaust.
  22. I do all of my fishing out of a 12' deep v, as long as you know your equipment, and yourself, the sky is the limit. I've fished Presqile in my rig, but I'm usually within pitchin' distance from shore.
  23. I don't know a whole lot about electric cars, but I only get 3 years out of a deep cycle battery, I wonder how long they last in a car? Maybe they have this covered, but what if you total it, is there a high chance of an explosion, or acid everywhere? Are the local fire depts. trained on how to deal with these?
  24. A few years ago, a man robbed a pharmacy for oxycontin, seems simple right? Hang em'high, and this is what I thought too, until recently. I seen a headline, where this mans brother passed away of colon cancer, where their mother stated its sad his brother couldn't attend the funeral due to the fact he was in jail for stealing meds for the brother(it was in the original headlines that they were low income). I don't know if its true or not, but I know the media never added this to the original story. What do you all think?
