  1. Or a roll cast. The point is to keep the lure out of the wind.
  2. Didn't he kill the first nile perch he caught by fighting it to exhaustion? River Monsters is too sensationalistic. He makes it seem like the fish are all great white sharks. These are freshwater fish for christ sakes. They may be big and nasty but still.
  3. Yes, I've caught the same fish three times; twice in one day a few weeks back and then once yesterday. She lives in the same spot and I know it's the same fish because of a dark spot on the gill plate.
  4. I'm a cyclist as well so I follow the Tour. You'll be happy to know that today is the final stage. Fishing might not come back next week though. I'd imagine now is about the time they switch to hunting. They're already running hunting shows on ESPN2. Bucks of Tecomate...here we come.
  5. I have a Compre 2-pc. I wouldn't call it lightweight but I do find it to be quite sensitive. I was fishing in the rain one day and kept feeling occasional taps but no fish. It dawned on me that the taps were raindrops hitting my rod.
  6. I am fairly new to baitcasting and prefer Shimano centrifugal. I tried a Daiwa TDA which I couldn't cast very well. It didn't seem like the mag braking was working at initial cast even when cranked up. My backlashes now only occur occasionally mostly during beginning part of cast where the spool is spinning faster than the lure taking the line out. For those who turn braking off (whether centrifugal or magnetic), how do you prevent overrun at startup? If you're a snap-caster, do you keep your thumb on the spool at startup? If so, doesn't that limit casting distance?
  7. This may be a dumb question but I'm going to ask anyways. Why don't baitcasters' drag click when a fish runs?
  8. I've been using Smelly Jelly this year but it's hard to say if it's been a factor.
  9. Dropshotting a roboworm or a Reaction Innovations Flirt.
  10. Nice. Is that the part of the Susk in PA?
  11. That's a nice piggy!
  12. Sweet. That's a nice one. Looks like a nice place to fish too.
  13. Watermelon and pumpkin for tubes.
  14. I've heard that they can see 3x as far in water as we can.
  15. I'd go with black. Also, something that moves lots of water. Black jitterbug for topwater or a big black plastic worm.
  16. Hmm...my guess before looking at everyone else's was 4.5lbs. I guess I'm overly optismistic.
  17. Like everyone else says, it's a lot of work to clean and maintain. I had a small pike that I bought at a pet shop once and that thing was an eating machine.
