  1. Which would be better as an all arounder topped with a Calcutta 200b?
  2. What limitations will the 100b have when comparing it to the 200b? What will I not be able to do with the 100?
  3. brother can cast 1/4 oz easily with his 5500C3, but I like to go to at least 3/8.
  4. Yes. The Daiwa Adavantage-A will cast light lures. But if you're gonna spend 170.00, you might as well go ahead and get a Calcutta 50B or 100B for 200.00, depending on how light you wanna go. Anyway, that at least gives you a couple of options. http://www.***.com/descpageRLCDAIWA-TDACA.html http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SHCB.html
  5. Baitcasters are easy. Just turn the little knob behind the handle until the lure will slowly freefall with the button depressed. Set the magnetic spool control at the halfway mark and adjust both a little here and there until you stop getting backlashes. Spend about thirty minutes in the back yard or out in the street with a 1/2 oz weight or washer. Then go fishing. Its not like you're building a rocket ship. Baitcaster = Easy.
  6. That's a nice reel. But it doesn't leave him any cash to buy even the cheapest rod at walmart. We're talkin' 175 here.
  7. Throw an Abu 5500C3 on that bad boy with some Trilene XL 14lb mono and watch both the rod and reel last you twenty years! http://www.***.com/descpageRLCABUGAR-AGC3.html

  9. I have decided that the bare minimum for bass, for me, is the Abu C3 series. I own two of those and a Citica. A Calcutta is in the works. Nice stuff just works better and lasts longer. Why buy cheap stuff if you can afford the 100-200 dollar stuff? I don't know if I'd buy a 250-500 dollar reel though, unless I fished for money. If it was for real, for bringin' home the bacon, I'd want the 500 dollar reel. ;D :-X
  10. I think a seven foot heavy fast with 17 or 20 pound mono is a pretty safe bet.
  11. Yes, hmmm, I see. What you really want is the Avid medium fast, instead of the medium heavy fast. You are the one who has to fish it. But I have drooled over the different Avids enough to imagine what it is that you mean. I like the MH fast for spinners for the reasons that I mentioned. Especially if the spinnerbait is on the heavy side. But a Med fast will do 1/4-3/8 spinners easy.
  12. "I find the action too fast for moving baits" I'm not sure what you mean. All of my MH fast rods do very well with spinnerbaits. They cast accurate and I can feel the vibe of the bait. I can feel when a bass comes up and bumps a bait instead of strikes. Hooksets are instant and the rod doubles as a jig/worm rod. Please explain what you mean.
  13. So, if I'm lookin' a ratltrap/pop-r rod to fish from the kayak, the 66mf is the way to go. I use a 7ft mhf mojo for spinnerbaits, worms, jigs, and buzzbzits. I almost want to get the premier or another mojo b/c I'm constantly beating my rods to hell in the kayak. A PC66MF or a MBC66MF.
  14. roadwarrior, why the 6'8" MXF over the 6'6" MF?
  15. Best 6'6" med weight fast action casting rod. By best I mean what gives you the most features/quality for under 200 bucks. I am using the SC Avid as a base to judge others off of. Its about 180 dollars.
  16. George Perry's bass looks bigger to me.
  17. Na, I read a couple reviews. Bass pro reviews. And the fact that Tackle Warehouse & Cabelas do not carry it.
  18. The Shimano Citica is a better reel for the exact same price. On a 6'6" or 7 Med or Med-Heavy Mojo Bass.
  19. It has been my experience that the 4+ pounders are still with the smaller 1-3 pounders after spawn. They may not bite the same lures though. They sit tighter and feed on ready to ****** stuff like crawdads and smaller bedding bream. Fish in water less than 10 feet deep. Just because the spawn has wound down doesn't put the fish in deep water. They are feeding in the shallows still. I've been seeing the big ol bass in less than 5ft of water, and the spawn is for sure over where I'm at. I lost a whopper last night at 7pm on a Mann's Baby 1-Minus in 3ft of water. Looked like she was a bonafide 5 pounder.
  20. My deerhunting comes in about even with fishing.
  21. ;D A disadvantage without one? I digress. Its just a different looking bait. The same results can be had with a smaller/finesse lure. Believe me, I am not at a disadvantage. I'll talk with yall some more about this later. I'm headed to the hole.
  22. I'm not looking for anything at all. I'm just curious what folks would want. I wanted to know what the people were droolin' over out there.
  23. Well, I'm glad that yall enjoy them. I just don't think that it catches bass as well as other lures that I use. Many will say, "Well, you're not usin' it right!" According to some, there's no wrong way to fish'em. : But I have given them a chance. I am admittedly a minimalist and I will only fish with a certain select few lures that I believe in. The senko just hasn't found a place in my box.
  24. reds, I hear ya. I don't see what the big deal with them either. They fall apart after like twenty casts or one bass, whatever comes first. I consistently catch bass with other lures while others use slinkos and catch nothing. I have no room for them in my tacklebox. I have tried them, but I won't use them. They are not for me. As for being the most productive lure in more than a decade, I dunno. If anglers tied on a culprit original instead of a sinko every time they reached for one, that would be the most productive lure in more than a decade. I chalk it up to successful marketing more than anything.
