  1. What do you normally throw in the canals? I throw a ton of plastics but have never had that much luck. I fished the canal behind Caloosa today and caught 4 on junebug senkos and 2 out of the pond there.
  2. these are all pretty amazing catches!! i can't imagine using line less than 10lb test. i fish so much grass and trees, eh, i'm getting nervous thinking about it!!
  3. i've never caught anything on a chug bug. pop-r's, frogs and buzzbaits have been my best lures for big bass.
  4. Caloosa is in Boynton. I've fished that canal before. Canals kick my butt, I never know what to throw. I was at South County Regional Park when we caught these. I had to google it, lol.
  5. I did! It's in West Boca There's a park out there off of Yamato.
  6. I took my nephew fishing on Sunday to a little hole in West Boca. This little pond is only 3/4 of an acre, but has provided some really nice catches. We caught 20 fish in a little less than 2 hours. We were throwing junebug senkos into the wind and letting them drift back towards a weedline. It was pretty fun stuff! Here's a couple pics.
  7. Thanks!! It's my 3rd kid, so it ain't nothing new. We almost have our 2 year old potty trained and our 13 year old has almost got showering on a regular basis down. I guess it was time for another one.
  8. i don't mind the front coming through this weekend. my wife is going in to labor so i won't be fishing anyways, lol. tight lines and bent poles to all those fishing this weekend, catch one for me!!
  9. don't know about the hot dogs, but i do use 20lb powerpro on a shimano symetre and bps extreme rod. i might have to try a hot dog next time the fishing is that tough, lol.
  10. here lately....stupid senko. normally....black culprit worm.
  11. i've fished this pond in a boat before and my wife and i both have done really good. it's pretty big for a retention pond. it was a frustrating day for sure. with that said, any day that i can get out of the house or office and make a few casts, it makes me feel human again and thankful for every cast!!
  12. went fishing the other day on my way home from work and hit up a rentention pond off of I95. usually it's a decent place to fish, my wife got a 7lber out of there a couple years ago. but on this trip i only got 2 dinks. i was fishing a shallow flat and i swear i threw everything in the tackle box and finally got the 2 on pumpkinseed senkos. i hate it when you think you have everything figured out as far as weather, time of year, colors, etc. and nothing produces. i'm starting to think the only thing i'm good at throwing anymore is a senko!! here's a pic of what i was fishing. :'(
  13. i believe it's the february edition of bassmaster magazine which has a good article on carolina rigging. check it out, it's good info!
  14. Thanks, I didn't know the levees were off limits. I guess I'll have to find another spot for Monday. I have to speak at Sebastian River High and was hoping to get a few casts in afterwards before I head home.
  15. Active duty US Navy! Submarine Yeoman currently on recruiting duty in south Florida. Looking for a bass club, no luck. I leave in October to go back to Kings Bay Georgia on a Sub. I can't wait!! I'm a sea dog, I need some salt!!!
  16. GO DAWGS!! sorry that's all i got, lol.
  17. anyone ever done this? any suggestions?
  18. i haven't found one yet that "embraces" non-boaters. i'm glad you do. i don't see the problem, more dues, more knowledge, more networking, etc. i guess they feel that non-boaters are just using the boaters. i've never been in a bass club, but from what i understand, when non-boaters fish with boaters they pay for costs of gas and use, seems like a good deal to me! maybe one day, when i get settled down, i can get a boat and become one of the cool guys in a bass club.
  19. Why are clubs so turned off by non-boaters?
  20. is there anywhere in the palm beach area to rent bass boats?
  21. you can NEVER have too much grass and vegetation!! and i too have never caught anything on a power worms. culprit and zoom!
  22. i tried for some peacocks yesterday for about an hour in Boca on Military. caught 4 bass! they were small though, the biggest one was maybe 2 lbs, it broke the front hooks off of my xrap. i just can't seem to catch peacocks!
