  1. anyone use these things? looks like they might work, i ordered a couple packs so we'll see. i'll post a review.
  2. all my tackleboxes, bags and 6 combos are stored in my truck right now. i have a supercab F150 and the back seat looks like the tackle section at walmart, only with better selection
  3. awesome!! i've only caught a handful of peas, the biggest being about 2 lbs. it shook off when i landed it and the hook went in my thumb. i'm hoping i get a chance to try for some more!!
  4. i can't cast a bait caster left handed. it drives me nuts because i can't hit some spots as well as i want. i really want to be able to pitch with out switching hands every time, but my left hand and wrist just aren't that coordinated. eh, irks me thinking about it.
  5. back in 2006 my brother and i fished through a tropical storm in a jon boat. we were on a little lake on the sub base in southeast georgia and found a little spot out of the wind and had a blast. going across the lake we were taking water over the side and almost didn't make back to where we launched, but it was awesome, we caught 20-25 bass that day flipping some reeds. i fished every day for 3 months straight that year before i deployed.
  6. there's a line management system article on this site which makes sense. to me anyway. i love braid, but use mono and fluoro also.
  7. amazing!! beautiful work!!
  8. welcome!! what part of PBC?
  9. she was almost 8 months pregnant at the time too!! lol (the wife that is)
  10. yeah supportive would be a better word. she's a pretty good fisherwoman herself. i got her in to bass fishing. here's one she got on a 3" drop shot lizard.
  11. Bass Fishing. It's my drug of choice and I can't get enough of it. If I could quit my job today and fish every day the rest of my life, I would do it. I dream about bass, think about bass and I want to fish RIGHT NOW!!! I've been a bass fisherman for as long as I can remember and there's only been 1 year that I haven't been bass fishing. What am I going to do??? I've only fished in 2 tournaments, but I got 2nd place in both. I don't have a boat....yet. My wife supports my habit and I don't know if that's a good thing, lol. Just had to get all that off my chest.
  12. what size weight? what size line? when flipping and pitching, i turn my magnets as high as they will go and keep the spool tension pretty loose. it allows for distance but keeps the overruns at a minimum. when using brush hogs i put them on a shaky head, it helps them stand up once they are through the grass.
  13. i want to get some too, i keep hearing about them. STOP BAIT MONKEY, STOP!!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!!
  14. you guys rock!! how did i miss this? :-?
  15. my guess is that the water in lox and everglades gets more run off from farmland than the waters like osborne and ida. the farmland pesticides and fertilizer could be stronger than the household stuff. i haven't eaten any bass i've caught down here in south florida yet. the water aren't that clean, there's too much trash everywhere. for me, dirty water equals dirty fish.
  16. i put them on a spot remover hook and pitch them around grass and reeds.
  17. Where in SE Ga are you from? I grew up in Hazlehurst. I'm in the Navy and was stationed in Kings Bay for 8 1/2 years and will be heading back there in October. My Mom lives on Lake George now, there's good fish there but you have to find them, it's a shallow lake with lots of eel grass and reeds. If you fish there watch the birds and shad, they key you to where the fish are. I've mainly fished the east side of the lake around the 9 mile area. My step dad got an 11 lber out of there a couple years ago and I've got a few 5-6 lbers over the years, nothing really to brag about. Frogs and flukes in the pads, spinners and senkos through the eel grass are usually what we get them on. Any dark color is good and gold blades seem to work best. I hear the St. Johns is good around Palatka, it's tidal so check the tide times there. A buddy of mine fished a tourney in Palatka in January and the word he got was Rat-L-traps were the way to go dragging them over sandbars. Hope this helps!!
  18. Is there a "search" function for the fishing articles and techniques? If not, can you make one? I love looking through all the articles, but when I'm looking for something specific, it's tough to find sometimes and my ADD kicks in and I forget what I was searching for. Please consider it. Thanks!!
  19. i use a 5/0 gamakatsu ewg for the 8"
  20. holy cow!! that's a nice set up. i would be scared to death to use that thing down here in south florida, but man, it would be fun!! i love how you have the depth finder on there too.
  21. congrats bro!! i have fished Quiet Waters Park quite a bit and it's pretty nice. there's more than one lake there, which is nice and you can rent jon boats and trolling motors. we should put together a little shore fishing or jon boat tourney there one weekend. it's $30 to rent a jon boat for the day.
  22. that's an interesting set up you have there. is that modified float tube type thing or do only have half of a boat? ;D
  23. when i moved to south florida a couple years ago i went out fishing and kept seeing the beds everywhere and they were huge. i was so excited!! but after spending 20 min or so fishing the beds and getting nothing i had to start asking people what was going with the huge bass down here, lol. i figured it out pretty quick. i have seen a ton of dead tilapia and cichlids and raccoons eating the dead fish.
  24. i love these things too. mainly for nostalgic reasons. i guess it's the smell, it takes me back to when i could fish with my grandpa. he's been gone for 12 years now and smelling those worms again almost made me tear up right in the middle of BPS, lol. they do have a different feel to them and a different action than other straight tails like trick worms.
