  1. I have... They are by far the best crank I have ever used and I am having trouble finding them. The Olive/River Craw is The best coloration as well. If anyone knows where I can get one let me know.
  2. yeah i looked up there are 8 that are named. I wish they would put it up on the Ashburn Village site. It just states those 8 are stocked annually for fishing. but nowhere on the site about it being private. I fish at a pond in ashburn that has no name and the only sign there states its catch and release.
  3. Great... But that sign is not at all waterbodies in ashburn. probably just the named lakes. Thanks for the proof guys.
  4. For the record, Ashburn ponds are NOT public. LOL "code for dont fish there cuz its my spot" Code for I have friends who live there and wish to respect their property and the money they pay for maintenance by establishing its private status on a public message board. We have BR members who live in that community and are quite generous about giving C&R fisherman permission to fish as guests but knowing some of the poaching and trespassing problems they have had and the amount of money that the community spends to maintain the ponds, I hate to see people advertising those ponds as public to everyone. I hate poachers and trespassers just as much as anyone. But I dont condone lying to fellow "fishermen" about the publicity of a pond. I think PMs are the way to go when putting suggesting spots though. But dont lie like that its just wrong.
  5. For the record, Ashburn ponds are NOT public. LOL "code for dont fish there cuz its my spot"
  6. Hey man I live in Reston too. I fished Lake Thoreau on 6-2-10 from the public bank next to the pool. I caught 1 dink, the water was really clear but very shallow. Kinda of disappointing. I also went to Newport Lake in Reston yesterday and caught 3 dinks on the public dock in the lilly pads. Im planning on going to Lake Anne tonight (barring the thunderstorms that they are calling for). If its not raining, come on by. I'll be on the bank that backs up to Wiehle Ave. The fish below was the biggest dink out of the 3 yesterday at Newport. He pounded a 4" chartruse grub weightless as soon as it hit the water. Healthy fish just small :-/
  7. where did you park to fish from here?
  8. Thanks guys. I still may this Saturday. I have nothing else to do. Its been really longs since I caught a trout, figured its worth a shot. Otherwise just go down to the lake and catch a bass or two
  9. Has anyone fished this area for trout? Is it worth getting up at 5 am and fish it? I am a noob at trout fishing but just read there are Trout in a stretch of Accotink and after today trout license isnt required. Thanks.
  10. Thanks guys for the info... I think I may get a nice display case and keep it for show, and keep it in its pristine condition. Again thanks a lot.
  11. Yeah... It says made in Japan. I can't find anything about Ryobi or Shimano. Thanks for the info. Its a neat reel though.
  12. Anyone know anything about this reel? My grandfather gave me this a few years back. I don't think he ever used it. It looks brand spankin' new. Basically should I go ahead and use it or Put it on the shelf as a keep sake? Thanks, PS. Its on the rod for transport haven't used that either. I have never used bait casting before. :-/
  13. I want to try to do some trout fishing with light weight spinning tackle, broke my fly rod not sure if I'm going to get another one yet. Know any good spots? Unfamiliar with that area. Thanks
  14. Oh wow. 15 bucks. hmm thinking twice now. A lot of people say the president I just cant justify 70 bucks right now. Wedding in 2 months across the country :'(. I cant figure out the differences of the mitchell 300xe and the pure fishing mitchell 300xe. I understand pure fishing owns michell but the picture I put above doesnt match the pictures of the one on Mitchell's website. I am reading some good things about the Okuma Avenger and Shimano Sonora
  15. thanks for the insight. How do we feel about the Okuma Avenger?
  16. Any opinions on this reel. I'm looking on the cheaper end (spinning reels under $50). I am looking for medium action reel (4:1) and up. Usually use 8lb test. My current 4 bearing Quantum Energy reel is bout to kick the bucket. Been great but have had it for 5 years or so. Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. P.S I do most of my fishing around ponds and lakes from the bank. If that helps any. Thanks in advance
  17. Thanks buddy. I see you live around here. If you are ever looking for a fishing buddy lemme know. My friends and I try to make it out somewhere fishing two or 3 times a week... today we are hitting up difficult run where it hits the potomac.
  18. Anyone have much luck? Boat? Bank? Trying to go there this weekend or next.
  19. No I saw he knew what he was talking about. take it easy. eat some kim chee for me.
  20. I dont know what im talking about when it comes to braided line thats why I started this whole thing. Congrats you have been promoted from Mr. Obvious to Captain Obvious. ;D I don't understand you're 29, how is me being 26 any different :-? Captain Obvious is not online right now I don't think. lol the reason i mention the age is if you had been a member of this board for a while you would know who KNOWS what there talking about and who to right off.... There are some cranky old men on here who like to gruff and grip and some young pups who like to shoot from the hip with out any bullets in their gun as I reach my 30's I find my self stuck in both worlds and being irritated with both worlds. the fact I'm 29 was my point in saying I'm getting old... once you get a bit older you'll learn to listen and then pounce and then we hit 60 and just don't give a hoot. I find old people and young people have a lot more in common the they like to admit. Welcome to BR Thanks man. I got ya.
  21. I disagree but lets agree to disagree cuz, yeah the arguing is getting out of hand. good luck to all
  22. I dont know what im talking about when it comes to braided line thats why I started this whole thing. Congrats you have been promoted from Mr. Obvious to Captain Obvious. ;D I don't understand your 29 how is me being 26 any different :-? ok all jokes and sly comments aside. I see where the braided line comes in handy. I wasnt aware of the sensitivity factor which is very nice to have. done and done.
