  1. Flipping small timber on 25 fluoro hybrid, 1/2 oz tungsten with weight stop (bobber stop) in 14 ft of water... They were on the edge of the drops in creek channels in front of spawning flats Big O www.ragetail.com Wow, you really have it down. Mind if I ask what rod/reel you were using?
  2. Yeah, apparently it's been a pretty weak seller. Who knows. I just want Daiwa to come out with a COMPETITIVE $120-$150 reel, that's not a Tierra.
  3. Adderall... you can clean the house in ten seconds on that stuff.
  4. Thats the problem, you're working and we're fishing. Steezy, post up a pic with your updates if you have any!
  5. Prespawn- Red Eye Shads and Booyah spinnerbaits Spawn- Jigs, Rage Hawgs, Baby Rage Craws Postspawn- Jigs, any plastics, and FLIPPING, my favorite way in the world to catch fish.
  6. That's what I meant. I think it would sell really well, too. Maybe they'll just offer a Curado with Instagage and dump the Castaic.
  7. Saw this on another forum, thought it would be interesting to post here. The Castaic is the only reel left in Shimanos lineup that could be redone. Do you think they will? If so, what could we expect? I think it's a good possibility, and we may see a Castaic 200e7, built on the Curado platform with a flippin' switch. I hope it's black. 8-)
  8. Agreed, very easy knot and also compact.
  9. Ahhh, Steez, often imitated but never duplicated ! Com'on where are the bashers, its a 5.4 oz lightweight reel that costs a boat load of $$$. Heaven forbid someone enjoy a little pleasure while fishing with something nice. 8-) 8-) 8-) You keep enjoying your "nice" gear. I'll enjoy catching big fish instead of pond rats. Agreed.
  10. Today was a really beautiful day outside. I went out to a local pond with my buddy for about an hour, and we both caught our first for the new year. His went 4, mine went 3. No big fish today, but all in all a nice little outing. It was really great to get "that smell" on my hands once again. I wish the weather would always be this nice! I was trying to tell him how to take a picture. That's why I look so unhappy, LOL.
  11. Each has their time and place. I do love catching a 6 pounder on a spinning rod though.
  12. If anyone here is a Fisheries Biologist, would you be willing to answer some questions I have via PM? I'm very interested in this field. I think I'm on a good path towards the career, but I wanted to see what kinds of things the job involves, etc. Basically what it's all about.
  13. Holy cow that's a sick looking reel. And I was excited to get a Revo Premier, now what!
  14. Upgrade them man, life is too short to fish with a POS.
  15. Save $10 more and get a Curado. I have both, the Curado wins hands down. It's a much smaller, lighter, more versitile reel. I love my HSTA, but it's on a dedicated frog rod for a reason.
  16. Rage Craw, Chigger Craw, grub, or a paddletail.
  17. Says an expert who owns none of the rods mentioned. Actually, I've talked to David P about this same scenario, and was just stating what he suggested to me. He is on the Dobyns Pro Staff. Either way, I was just trying to be helpful. Thank you though.
  18. The Savvy will be more sensitive than the Veritas, and the Champion will be even more sensitive. I would go 734 with braid.
  19. Wow, little bit of everything there. Quantum, Abu Garcia, Shimano, Pflueger, Daiwa. Did I miss any?? And they all play together nicely...haven't caught the Shimanos or Daiwas picking on the Pfluegers or Quantums once ;D ;D The top spinning reel is an Okuma and the round reel on top is a BPS Pro Qualifier I need to....still chipping away at the 20 or so spools of CXX I bought from walmart a few years back when they clearanced it for $2-3 a piece. I also have a tendency to try different lines that I find onsale, I'd say the there are probably 6-7 different lines in that picture....CXX, CX, Floroclear, McCoy FC, Yo-Zuri Hybrid, Suffix Seige, Elite, Berkley Fireline Braid, BPS Excel, XPS FC, Seaguar Red Label, Stren Super Braid....OK...I was off by a few WOW I like that collection alot! How do the Sol's compare to a Curado? I could really do all my fishing with those two reels. I like to compare the 50 and the sol as similar reels with different braking systems. You can snap cast the Curados easily with little worry about an overrun. I tend to keep my mags higher, around 8, and my cent brakes low with one pair. I seem to get further on a cast from the Sol, even with higher braking. the drag is a bit better on the Curado but I've upgraded to carbontex on all my daiwas making them smoother and more consistent. It's really hard to compare straight up because I use them so differently, plus I've payed less for my Sols than my Curados. In all, I could replace my Sols with 50es, COULD, but won't. Both ate great reels though. The Sol is my sleeper reel, one that I really wanna try but is on the back burner because other stuff is more important right now. Glad to hear you like it, I'll probably get one eventually. 8-)
  20. I pretty much throw only braid, and will use a leader as necessary. Although I might try some different lines in 2011, including Seaguar Red Label, AbrazX, and maybe InvisX, Lake Fork Paralellium and Parahelium, and a couple Sunlines, mostly for leaders, but I might spool my Curado up too. I also like CXX and Hybrid.

  22. There's too many good $100 rods nowadays. I say $150 reel, $100 rod.
