  1. I wasn't big on the EVA foam either, but I really kinda like it on the CUC-72MH. I don't like the hook keeper though.
  2. Nice man, how do you think the Curado 50 and Core 50 compare? I bet if you got spool bearing upgrades in the Curado and a Carbontex drag it would fish a lot like the Core.
  3. Yeah I hear ya man. For the past year and a half I've been trying to get my arsenal to where I wanted it to be, meaning a couple different combos that I really like, instead of 20 different cheap ones. In reality I could use the Cumara/Curado for every fishing technique I use. But, what's the fun in that? ;D Sam- not recently, she's in the "I'm extremely smart" classes, I'm in the "I'm smart" classes, LOL.
  4. What Daiwa reel? I haven't felt a bad one yet, although i've never touched a steez. I like the Advantage HSTA frame and the Zillion frame the most though. The HSTA is a beast of a reel. It does the job very well however. I would really only use it for frogs, swimbaits, and flippin' though. It's a big friggin' reel.
  5. I got my Curado from David today and on that Cumara it's just so freakin' perfect. The Power Knobs feel great in my hand, and ergonomically it fits my arms just right. I think I made the "ultimate" combo for the way I fish. My frog setup, a Vendetta with an Advantage, is also that way, very comfortable for the shape of my hands. So have you ever made the "perfect" combo?
  6. I have a nice digital, but I bought an Econoscale and it's great. I was afraid I would catch a HAWG and the digital wouldn't turn on. Plus, the Econoscale has a lip grip thing, which hold 'em tight.
  7. The older you get, the more you realize how short life really is. I guess it seems like it's going slow, then you look back and realize how it really wasn't.
  8. They used to be really popular for bass fishing, then people started using longer rods.
  9. 17. It's weird, I can't imagine being 50 or 60 like some of you guys, but you probably look back and think it went by fast.
  10. Fat-G replied to SDoolittle's topic in Everything Else
A quick reply option would be nice, as would a Bass Resource app.
  11. Spro Frogs work for me.
  12. Does a bear s**t in the woods? Haha, just kidding. I like throwing them on spinning rods. Although I've only used an Ika once...but I caught a beautiful 4.5 lb chunk. Which leads to the question why haven't I thrown them more.
  13. I use an Ogio backpack my dad got free at a Nascar race he had to cover. I just looked online and it's an $80 backpack! Jeez, I didn't know it was that nice. Anyway, I like it. It has a lot of compartments for extra stuff too.
  14. It seems to me like a flippin' switch would be good for flippin'. Sorry, had to. I've never used one before.
  15. Thanks guys. Carrington- I just have too much other stuff to but right now to spend a lot on a spinning rod. Plus I don't really use them enought to warrant $80+. I also need a flippin' rod. ;D Sam- I'm a spinning rod MASTER haha! I love spinning rigs, they just have taken a backseat in my arsenal. I just need one really for throwing Ikas and Flick Shakes. All of the other things I rarely if ever throw. Basically this will be a "just in case" rod.
  16. Hahaha WOW. You could buy 2-3 very good combos for that. Jeez, that's a ton of money for one reel.
  17. I should probably also throw this out there, the Shakey Heads and t-rigs will be 1/8-1/4 oz. weight wise. The plastics will be anything from Rage Baby Craws to Trick Worms, etc. Heavier than most "finesse" presentations.
  18. I agree with that... but soley based on the techniques listed, my personal preference would be a XFast. Well, the only thing that would make it a difficult say is the Ika. It's a pretty heavy bait so an XF might not be the best option. I definitely see what your saying though, especially for the Flick Shakes. 70% of the Flick Shakes will be the 6.8 versions, so I guess that'll be heavier than the common finesse worm.
  19. Alright folks, I need a spinning rod as much as I hate to admit it. The Tec Spec is a great rod for the money, I just want something longer and more balanced. I don't need a $300 combo, as I don't use spinning tackle that much. Although I'm going to try some finesse techniques this year, so I'll use them more often than before. This might be a tough one though. I'm looking for one rod as an all-around spinning rod to cover everything I would use it for. I'm looking to spend $80 tops, and I'm considering the Clarus. It will be paired with a Sahara 2500 and 6 or 8lb Yozuri Hybrid. It will be used for: Weightless Ikas Flick Shaking (3/32 & 1/8) Shakey Heads Drop Shots, if I ever throw one Split-shot rigs Light t-rigs And maybe others I can't think of right now. I was thinking of the 7' MF model, any suggestions?
  20. Rage Craws, Hawgs, Lobsters, and Smokin' Roosters. Also a pack of Fat Ikas.
  21. I just got an email back from Richard Dobyns. He said the difference between the Savvy and Champon is very little, other than the cork, guides, and blanks. He said the blank difference is not a big deal. The main point he got across is that with the Champion you're getting nicer components; like guides and cork. Other than that, if it's a matter of saving money, get the Savvy.
