Baticasting Help Needed
Ok, So I have a BPS Diawa "Procaster 100B" on a BPS Graphite IM6 M/H Rod. I purchased this combo when I was just getting back into LMB fishing and was on a tighter budget. I am now looking to do a little upgrading. I am looking at getting a Shimano Curado 200E 5:1 or the Team Daiwa Advantage HSTA. Both reels seem to be good and in the $150ish price range. So my questions is, which would you get? and why? OR would you suggest another option? Would I be better off upgrading my rod first? TIA

They're all gonna laugh at you!!
I had a situation like that. ... Out front of my old high school there is a pond about 2 acres in size. No one fishes it but little kids with wally world poles. I got a new rod and was dying to try it out so down to the pond I went with a strike king spinner. As soon as I cast I have some stupid high school kids start laughing at me for fishing in the pond that they throw all thier crap into. :'( I blow them off and the next cast pull out a 2.5lber. They all start freaking out. Needless to say it was a nice suprise. 8-) Went back several times after that only to get skunked. :-/ Its all good though.

Wife wants me to show off her catch
I had one of those hit a buzz bait one time and was very suprised at how hard it hit. It is fun going after the smaller stuff every once in a while. 8-)

will hot temps in my car damage fishing rods
I wouldnt recommend that with any rod you truly care about. Just like you wouldnt throw a rod into an oven. If its a cheapy just count it as the cost of admition and run it till she breaks.

Frog Fishing
I like the Ribbit Frogs. I have a spro frog but I find I have more luck with the ribbit frog because I can fish it just under the surface. I also preffer the changable frog boddies incase of a quick color change.

Re: pond lures
I will throw a Rat-L-Trap or Road Runner depending on clarity. Worms/Lizards work as well but I tend to enjoy the faster moving baits.

A new strategy, for me anyway
mmmm...is there anyway to hook a trolling motor to that canoe?

is fishing your "main" thing?
What is this a confession thread? hahhaha My list is (in no order): Photography (D90 with a bunch of lenses) - I do weddings and other events as a part time thing (Anthonyspics.com) Cars (Integra Type R) - I enjoy road racing and doing HPDE's 4 to 6 times a year fishing small dirt bikes - I used to race MX but I dont feel like messing with the injuries anymore hangin with the wife Church Stuff I do about everything equaly. I need to drop a few things though. There is just not enough time to do all the things I would like to do. 8-)

Blood on tail
Interesting stuff here. Although that was a lot of posts to get to no concrete explanation. :

Swimsenko and line twist
I usually will fish a swivel about a foot up the line and run a leader to the worm. The swivel will allow it to spin with out twisting the line ; )

What is your favorite "Bite"
I really like the top water buzz bait strikes and then the slam on a rattle trap or spinner.

IS there such a thing
Yes I readjust the freespool and brake on the real when I change lures. I always do this because this is my only rod. But after further googling information on the real and rod the rod has a 3/8oz. min. on the lure : / The problem is just too much rod and reel for the type of fishing I am doing. So I went to cabelas and picked up a Shakespear Tempest reel with a ProGuide IM6 Rod for 4-10lb line and 1/8-1/2oz. Lures. I also got a ProGuide IM6 Rod for 8-17lb line with 1/4-5/8oz. lures for the future light weight BC reel in the future. I really liked the look of the rods and they are great priced. I hope they perform as well as expected.

IS there such a thing
Yeah i read that article. I dont have any issues throwing the reel on a larger heavier luer. It is only when I am using the lighter weight stuff. That and the gear ratio is a little overkill for the fish I catching. I wish I had larger fish to justify it

THanks for the info fellas <off to cruise ebay 8-)

IS there such a thing
by light weight tackle I mean a road runner or a rooster tail. I can only go bank fishing ( no boat :'() and I have a navy blue diawa bait cast on an IM6 graphite rod from BPS. Every time I try and throw something light it just wants to bird nest. Plus when I get a fish on, there is no fight. It just skips the fish across the top of the water. (mostly 1-3lbs. fish being caught) Needless to say it is just overkill and I am looking for a reel a little more suited for the fishing I am able to do. 8-)

IS there such a thing
IS there such a thing as a bait cast reel that can be used for light weight tackle? <likes to use light weight tackle but hates his baitcast when all it wants to do is birdnest >

You're either a Tackle Junky...or Not.
Because when it comes to cameras or stuff for my new truck, I'm completely the opposite as I am with fishing tackle. I could spend litterally 10's of thousands of $$$ on cameras and truck stuff, if I had it ! Heck, I have 7 cameras now.... but would just love to buy a top of the line pro DSLR, and a full assortment of lenses.... that would be $50K right there ! And a couple more top of the line fixed lens cams.... and a good digital video recorder.... And I know I could easily dump $50K or more, into my truck too. So, as you can see, for me, fishing is the FAR cheaper choice ;-) Peace, Fish HAHAHHAHAHAHA! That is how I justify it to my wife as well! "Baby fishing is CHEAP compared to my other hobbies" <Tackle Junkie 8-)
