Re: pond lures

Featured Replies

My favorite lure is a crankbait. The one that I have caught the most bass on is a 10" ribbontail worm.

The only lures that are not suitable for ponds are those you

don't want to lose! Diving crankbaits are a perfect example.

A finesse worm works great for me

Topwater is my favorite but I catch more on plastics.

jigs in the weedline tx rigged worms wacky worms and lizards i have best luck with on ponds once and awhile a topwater frog coming off the pads slowly.

senko, wacky rigged. but have caught alot of pond bass on crankbaits

I will throw a Rat-L-Trap or Road Runner depending on clarity.

Worms/Lizards work as well but I tend to enjoy the faster moving baits.

cant really beat a good ol senko worm

nice dark color jump keep slowly popping it off the bottom

Me too...most ponds (city parks) are only 3-5' deep, so the worms are #1...usuaully a 4" roboworm.

For ponds it's hard to beat a Senko.

Shakey Head worms and lizards.

Worms by far and even though i get more qaulity fish on my jigs my personal best was with a worm ,,this will all change as i have found ragetails shads, anacondas, lizards, frogs ,spacemonkey and craws,i really love these things and if i didnt have so many manns and zooms plastics if i was just starting fishing and bought Ragetails this would be my only choice by far a phenomenal lure and so far stands right along with my manns augertails and zoom lizards

My favorites have been either a Shallow or Medium diving crankbait.

This year I think the Rage Tail plastics will become my favorite with most of my catches so far being on a swim jig/chunk and other products getting a plenty of use as we get consistent weather.

Bandit Footloose in chrome or pearl color.  Went with three buddies yesterday to a new pond, two started with worms & the other started with a spinner bait.  I caught four bass before any ot them had anything, one even borrowed a Footloose from me.  I usually start with a crankbait, then switch to plastics.

GY pro twin tail grub black bl fl on a 1/8 to 1/4 swimming jig head ;) covers top to bottom

The 3 local ponds I fish I have the best luck with a Cavitron Buzz Bait and all types of plastic worms rigged Texas and Wacky style.  Lately a little luck fishing Fat Ika's or Palm Trees.

Later, ;)

Ponds all have their own personalities so it's impossible to say.  But for most that I fish where there are lots of weeds, I like a superfluke.
