  1. I like H rods for jig fishing becuase I have lost more fish using under powered rods than I have ripping jigs out of their mouths with a heavier power. And again the sensitivity on that rod is nice. I have a few other jig rods, but the faster fall with the 12# was getting more strikes than my 20# seagur.
  2. Thanks fat-g, Yeah it's really hard to tell because she was fat as could be, but yeah 5-6 lb is accurate haha. The rod is actually a 7' H cabelas prodigy rod that I have had for awhile now and have found no reason to replace it. It has the power to stick the pigs and the sensitivity is comparable to some of the better rods out there.
  3. After a few weeks trying to Chris to put down the jigs and get out of the workshop, he agreed to take me to one of his local favorite lakes. Chris is designing a new line of jigs so we did some testing, and they were killer! The presentation that worked the best was the PB and J color in 3/8 oz. Unlike the theory that slower is better in the fall, the bass hammering the jigs on a faster fall, as well as fast hopping on the bottom. We were tossing the jigs near pads and around docks, but found that most of our fish were in open flats, with not much cover. The first two pictured below I caught on the PB and J, but near the end of the day clouds rolled in and become overcast. I told Chris that I was switching to black/blue, and he turned and said "I'll stick with what I am throwing". I flipped the jig near a pad and THUNK! I set the hook on what we both thought was a heavy pike, but as it boiled it was clear that it was no pike. The bass wrapped itself around a few pads and I new there was a chance a would land this fish, but my 12 lb CXX came through and I horsed her to the boat. We didn't have a scale on us, but she measured at 20" and we are thinking between 5.5 - 6 lbs. Overall, the jig preformed beyond our expectations! Look out for his new jigs in the near future.
  4. I was fishing out on my home lake about 100 ft from shore and this sucker soaker pulls the biggest bass I have ever seen come out of my lake. He just threw the fish on shore like it was nothing, and so my paps and I tried to distract him as the fish flopped around in search of water. Unfortunately he caught on and we weren't able to save her. I also witness a hmong family NETTING bass. One of them was throwing out bait and the others had nets they threw at the bass as they passed. Let's just say they weren't doing that for very long. Even though there are laws in place for anglers to keep bass, its sad to see some of this going on, especially when it is on your home lake.
  5. Absolutely let him know. Chris has built up a reputation of building quality hand tied jigs, so if you had a bad experience with one of his jigs he will do what he can to make it up to you. I have never had a problem with quality, it fact I have a few swimjigs that I have caught over 100 fish on.
  6. Northstar New Gill swimjig with a Paca Craw in Alabama Craw = perfect match
  7. Spro aruku Shad
  8. Only one mention of DT Fats? The perch color Fat 3 is at the top of my list.
  9. That would work up here for Muskies!
  10. Spook or Sammy
  11. I am very simplistic when it comes to color and I go with what I have confidence in. White has produces more fish in the morning for me than any other color, so I haven't found a reason to change
  12. Simplify it by thinking about the conditions. In low light, I stick to white (morning or cloudcover) and black (night). On bright sunny days I will throw a pearl belly/watermelon ribbit frog all day.
  13. ^ hope this is accurate. Franco, my local GM has had the Dt flats and fats, but not the original Dt series.
  14. I don't know if they will be available, but do you have any links to the sales going on?
  15. Jigs, lipless cranks, jerkbaits, manns baby minus
  16. Sunny days and the water is a little stained
  17. Thanks man. I'll go with the Cumara
  18. BassThumb, More great info, much appreciated. Is the cumara underpowered? I might take a long look at the CUC-74H
  19. 10'+....I'm set on the two rods, I'm just wondering if anyone has fished them both.
  20. Looking to get another jig rod for deeper waters..I am looking at the 7'2 Cumara MH casting or the 7'4 dobyns champ extreme MH. I own a few Cumaras, but only spinning so I don't know how the casting rods feel. Anyone have experience with these rods?
  21. Baby bass Zoom fluke = great choice
  22. That is great to hear Lee! Chris is a very down to earth guy and I agree he makes a pretty nice jig
  23. Breezy, Also try rigging them like I mentioned earlier, pegged bullet weight/t-rigged. That way you can slow roll or jig the swimbait...that is very deadly sometimes.
